The 'Stadtbahn' in Vienna has different kinds of stationbuildings; Normal, Beautiful and Luxurious.
The latter was for sure the 'Hofpavilon' in Hietzing. The private station of the emperor of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
It is still eyecandy. It is a pity Franz Joseph only two times made use of this accommodation.

Sometimes my quest for Art Nouveau, in combination with Dragons, brings me to rather queer places.
In Germany you can find the ‘Siebengebergte’. One of these seven mountains is called: ‘Drachenfels’ (dragons rock).
Halfway the top there is a temple-like building in late Jugendstil style. This is the ‘Nibelungenhalle’.
It has been built in 1913 and is devoted to the composer Richard Wagner, whose work was very popular in de Jugendstil/Art Nouveau period.
Hermann Hendrich was the painter of the many works here exposed, that refer to Wagner’s operas’s. Many of them are affected by leaking water caused by overdue maintenance.
To avoid misinterpretations; there are several swastika’s applied in the building, but just as a symbol for the ‘sunwheel’, they have nothing to do with the later Nazi symbol.
Besides that, there are many symbols applied that refer to old Northern Mythology, saga’s and legends. The subjects of Wagner's opera’s.
There's also a 'Scherrebek' tapesty. (See my post of 3 june). It shows the three Godesses of 'fate' under the Ygdrasyll tree.
Behind the building, there is a garden with a great dragon, made of stone, and a little zoo with mainly all sorts of reptiles and some other creepy creatures.
I must admit that this is a very peculiar place to be… come along if you like it!
Last week I visited the Danish village Skaerbaek.
About hundred years ago, it was part of the German Empire and it had the name Scherrebek.
Scherrebek was famous because of the weaving school that existed there for some period.
It was an attempt to improve the prosperity of the local people.
Many Great Names among the Jugenstil artists, like Otto Eckmann, Hans Christiansen, Henri van de Velde and Heinrich Vogeler made designs for the tapestries that were made here.
The charming museum of Skaerbaek has many remains of that period of flourishing.

I just returned from Lund, in the South of Sweden.
In the Stora Fiskare gatan I found this building with two guardian dragons around the door.

( The other two are behind a cut, because I care! )
