Bad Girls of Bad Art "Psychedelic Prom"
Look out boys, the girls are taking over! Bad Art for Bad People will be hosting "Bad Girls
of Bad Art: Psychedelic Prom." The opening reception will take place Friday, May 23rd at the
Continental Club in Denver from 6 p.m. until 2a.m. We will have The Omens, Dario Rosa and
Dead Bubbles playing music (grab your honey for that first dance) and the Oh La La burlesque
troupe will be performing between sets. Visual art by 10+ artists will be on display.

First, a few Hearse Girls pictures...

I was really happy with that first picture, it turned out a LOT better than I had hoped. I owe Josie BIG TIME for going out with me in freezing rain and taking these pics, she is an excellent model and you can see more of her on the Hearse Girls page located at www.hearseclub.com

Below is a music video we directed for Hearse Driver written by EJ Wells, piano music intro by Richard Coleman.

With only two days of shooting time, Aubrey Ellen Shomo and I shot this video at a variety of locations. Cops were called, city streets were spray painted (actually, used colored hairspray for the skid marks) and giant spatulas were used. In fact, I still have the thing in my back yard...it's just not something they really build silverware drawers in anticipation of...13 foot spatulatory devices...that being said, HERE IT BE!

As always, you are more than welcome to cross post the HELL out of this. Email it to friends, post in your own Live Journals or on Myspace. Even if only one other person happens to see it, that always helps and is appreciated. Especially if the person who happens to see it is a Hollywood producer who has lots of money and poor judgement when it comes to handing out hefty paying contracts to inexperienced film writers who use too much profanity.

Zombies and other actors/actresses needed

SORP Films is looking for a variety of actors and actresses for our upcoming film.

We are in primary need of female zombies as well as news reporter/ anchors, Police Officers, Monks, Male Native Americans (18-30), Mothers (30s), Fathers (30s), Female children (8 - 12) and extras needed.

Production starts mid-September, casting is Sept 1. Bring headshot, resume and have a prepared monologue.

kaRIN and Statik from the band Collide and Dean Garcia, who was the instrumental side of the band Curve.

Where do they live now?
kaRIN & Statik live in Los Angeles and Dean Garcia lives in London.

How did they meet and when did The Secret Meeting start?
They met in 2006 while kaRIN was surfing around online and came across Dean Garcia's solo page on myspace. kaRIN wrote Dean a short note to see if he might like a guest vocal and it turned into a full project.

Where did the name The Secret Meeting come from?
We all brainstormed and bounced back and forth a bunch of names and The Secret Meeting seemed to be the one that fit the project the most.

Do they have any previous releases before The Secret Meeting?

How many CDs have The Secret Meeting released so far?
This is their first.

What else have the members of The Secret Meeting done?
Highly sought out in the music industry, both Statik and Garcia have helped to shape musical history and have lent their talents and skills to incredible visionary artists. CALLING COLORADO ARTISTS to participate in the:

First Annual Stapleton Art Walk

SHOW DATE: Saturday, June 23, 2007

SHOW TIMES: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

LOCATION: In Stapleton on 25th Drive west of Central Park Blvd.

EXHIBIT SPACE: Artists will display in assigned canopied (10x10) spaces on the street next to the park in front of million-dollar homes. Location decisions will be made by the jury.

NOTE: Artists will be provided a 10x10 canopy with a table and chair.

2007 SHOW FEES: $75 EXHIBITION FEE, PLUS ONE PIECE OF ARTIST'S WORK AS A DONATION TO SILENT AUCTION TO BENEFIT BRENT'S PLACE (minimum bids to be determined). $75 will be due upon acceptance.

ARTIST SELECTION: This juried show is open to all Colorado artists.
Paintings, pottery, sculpture, jewelry, photography and outdoor art are welcomed.

IF YOU ARE SELECTED: You will be notified by May 30, 2007, of your space number corresponding to an exhibit location in the park or in one of the display homes.

SELECTED ARTISTS are required to submit one piece of art as a donation for a silent auction to Brent's Place. Minimum bids TBD.

SET-UP: Saturday, June 23rd: from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. Drive-in trailers or vans are permitted on the street until 9:30 a.m. ONLY. The street will be blocked to vehicles at that time. There will be NO storage provided on site. Your exhibit space must be clean and neat. One artist per space.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: Email 3 photos of 3 different representative works to be exhibited and the electronic application (Word form document) no later than 5 p.m., May 15, 2007. For an entry form, please email stapletonartwalk@jgu.com. You will also be sent a copy of the guidelines for this event.

When you receive the application, save the file to your desktop as Stapleton Art Walk Application FOLLOWED BY YOUR LAST NAME (example Stapleton_Art_Walk_Application_Smith). Attach the application and 3 photos and email to stapletonartwalk@jgu.com.

PHOTO GUIDELINES: Send JPEG files formatted to at least 6" by 4" (or proportionate size) at 300 dpi. Clearly title each photo with the name of the piece, medium, and your last name (example: Flying birds_pottery_Smith).

Edward Scissorhands is playing at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts - but only till Sunday! (yesterday was the opening night!)

Checked it out yesterday and was incredibly pleased - I actually haven't actually seen the movie, but loved the performance anyways. I didn't know what to expect going in - it reminded of a ballet (lotsa dancing, no talking), with incredible costumes and a pretty amazing set. I mean, I'll say it, I cried at the end. *sigh*

Plus Gallery will be hosting a special one-day only dialogue with Damian Hirst this Sunday.

Hirst, who heard about Doug Mielnicki's debut at Plus Gallery, has agreed to come out, take in the show and meet / greet fans at 2:35pm on April 1st.

Hirst will also be bringing along a few of his newest paintings, one of which will be donated to the gallery for a special drawing that day. We are going to have to limit attendance for this event to 500 people, we'll have a special lottery in place for those interested in attending, though we ask that you line up at the gallery no earlier than 4am on Sunday morning.
