This contest is dumb. The entries will be dumb. The prizes will be dumb.

I'm sorry.

---------------------------------------------------------------
The Contest:
1. Write a 250 character (letter, not word) or less speed-story* loosely involving a dragon entirely in LOLspeak**.

And/Or

2. Write a dragon*** LOLspeak haiku. (3 line poem, 5 syllables, 7 syllables, 5 syllables.)

---------------------------------------------------------------
The Prizes:

Lolspeak speed-story winner: I will design a dragon based on your lolspeak story, and just your lolspeak story. No additional information is required! (or will be accepted) You will receive a high-rez copy of your loldragon and the dragon will be published as a spot illustration in my next how-to-draw book.

Lolspeak haiku winner: Same deal!

---------------------------------------------------------------
The Rules:
1. Have fun.

2. Your entry must be either a LOLspeak haiku (follow the syllable rules of the format) or a 250 character (letter, not word) or less story. If your haiku is not a haiku, or your speed story is much too long, your entry will be disqualified.

3. The LOLspeak story or haiku must be your own work.

4. You may enter up to 3 times.

5. All entries must be recieved by Friday June 19th 11:59PM EST. Entries past this time are still welcome, but you will no longer be eligible to win.

6. All entries must be posted to this journal entry (please follow the link. It will take you to the screened official thread in my LJ.) Comments are screened, so only you and I will be able to see your entry(s). After the contest is over I will unscreen all entries so everyone can enjoy. If you do not have a LJ account, simply post your e-mail or DA/FA/SA or other way I can get in contact with you should you win.

7. The dragon I design based on your LOLspeak poem or story will be published as a spot illustration in my next how-to-draw book. By entering this contest, you are acknowledging that you are okay with this. If you do not want me to draw a dragon based on your story and wish to enter anyway, you must specify that you do not wish to win the prize, but only to share your story :-)

8. I will be judging this with a panel of LOLspeak experts who are totally not my Warcraft vent buddies. (only they are.)

---------------------------------------------------------------
Disclaimer: Since I'm going to be drawing a dragon based on the haiku or story, the dragon design may not turn out exactly how you have in your head if you're trying to win this contest to get a very specific dragon drawn. This contest is mainly for fun, which is why the I'm not asking for art or small novellas. The idea is that you will have as much fun writing your 5 min blurbs as you will if you win and get a dragon, or so I hope :-)

* I can tell you right now that a speed-story that consists entirely of describing your dragon is not a story at all!

**If you're not familiar with lolspeak, the link I provided kind of gives you the gist of it. Now, when I say "entirely" in lolspeak, that basically means mispell as much as possible, but you are not limited to the words contained in the lolspeak dictionary.

***Because Haiku are short and can be very interpretive, you don't have to have your haiku specifically mention a dragon or scales or wings and whatnot if you don't want to. Just know that if your haiku is chosen it will eventually be turned into a dragon.

---------------------------------------------------------------
Extra Info: Since I'm posting xposting this to a community who may not know what the heck I'm talking about when I say "Oh yeah, the prize is a piece of dragon art it's going in a how to draw book" you may be like "What the heck is this person babbling about?"

I will draw a dragon based on your lolspeak haiku or story if you win. Examples of what my artwork looks like can be viewed in my livejournal.

When I say a how to draw book, I mean something like this, only more better (as I made this one 5 years ago and have improved since then!)

If you have any additional questions, feel free to reply here in the art_dragon community thread (this topic you're reading now) as opposed to the journal entry in my LJ (which has screened comments for entries only. :-))

I just now finished this girl. She was a commission, as most of my plushes are. Hopefully the person who commissioned her will be happy with her.

Hi, I just just joined here!
I love drawing, and dragons are one of my favorite things to work with. I'm not much of an artist yet, but I really want to improve so constructive criticism is very welcome!

I've been on live journal for a while now, but I've only really started becoming active on it recently so I don't really know that much. Does anyone know about any other good art/character design communities here?

Hello to all who have been kind enough to take interest and read my entry...I am Dracotic Cannibal, a maker of glue dragons and soon to be other creatures...I have had some completed for a while now, but I didn't really have intention of selling them right just yet...But, due to the wonderful economy we have right now, I have for sale my first two larger completed glue dragons I have constructed from scratch...

What is a glue dragon?

Answer:  I am a firm believer that you can make art out of anything, and I've proven that with these dragons of hot glue, and wire framing...I created a base with inexpensive wiring used to arrange artificial flowers and have added layer upon layer of hot glue to form, in this case, a dragon...In the future I will be accepting commissions, so I will not limit myself to dragons alone, but they are my passion...

How long does it take to make one?

Answer:  It depends on the size...The largest of my collection took me 4 days give or take, but that was when I was able to bring it to work and add to it...I can no longer do this...A small computer perching dragon will take me no more than 4 hours,..

How did you figure to use hot glue as a medium?

Answer:  Well, as a child I really enjoyed hot glue...I would like to drip some(not too hot) on my finger and feel it dry, but being young, I was discouraged to freely use the gun(Unless no one was home, hehe...)

They look like they are made of glass...Why haven't you painted them?...

Answer:  My first was not intended to be painted...It was made to display the technique...Honestly, I would love to see these painted or "stained"(Glass stain is ideal on these sculptures) So if you are interested in purchasing one and find yourself to be artistically inclined, I would love to view a complete painted sculpture...The second I can stain upon request, but it would take a lot longer to ship out...Right now black is the only stain I have in a good quantity...Other colors are available, but not in large amounts...I would have to purchase more, and at this time, I don't know if I'm capable(So it would cost extra)

I love the idea, but I don't see one I like...Can you make what I want?...

Answer:  Eventually, sure...Like I had stated above, I am game for many requests, I love the medium, and feel confident enough to take on most commissions...But this will be probably in the middle of April when I have settled into my new habitat...

Glue...Doesn't that melt?...

Answer:  Why yes...Glue does in fact melt...I guarantee 100% quality and satisfaction on my works, and will even try and repair any damage that might occur for no extra cost(I just ask you pay shipping)...While I do guarantee this, I do not reccomend putting these sculpts in areas that have high temperatures such as next to the stove, in the car, etc...If it is too badly melted, repair isn't exactly an option, insted it becomes a memory...

So if they melt, does that mean it's really delicate?...

Answer:  Not at all...In fact, the large glue dragon reminds me(durability wise) of those old school plastic dinosaurs...As long as you mind the wings(they can bend somewhat, but can be bent back into place), and do not pull at smaller details that stick out, you should be fine...Your 2 year old or your cat will love knocking it over, and you will love that it doesn't break...I actually had my mischevious cats in mind when I made these, hehe....

Well, I've been on this community for about a couple weeks... Never really got around to posting an intro!

I am mildly insane, also known as Nezdragon.  I'm not an artist but I do, on occasion, draw dragons:

I also have a DA account where my occasional artings are posted.  So... hi!  :P

I thought it was really nice that there was a community that drew dragons, I like to draw them too, so I thought I would share and join! Magic, I know!

What I've seen so far is fantastic, I know I'm not the best, but I hope you guys like some of my stuff!

Look forward to more posts ^.-.^
