i was....
reading this post and got to thinking. what things would i rather have done that were put aside for other things. Well a good friends wedding in scotland. I truly wish I had gone. In retrospect i did not have the money, was living with my mother, had a small child that I could not have left in the states, when traveling to another friends wedding in las Vegas had the even smaller child in tow and was miserable. I have in that period of time had three different jobs, had a banruptcy, gotten married, aquired strange ailments that if the docs had been on tha ball would not have taken 18 hours ot diagnose.

today I was listening to cnn on my break as well as two people in the break room. a person on their "team" had been fired, i heard them say he would call customers back if disconnected. OMG, it is an inbound call center, I would never cal someone back, once a call got cut off at the end and I made sure with my manager that I should process it to  the point of a sale as we had gone through all the red tape so to speak. but to call some one back if the call is cut off. When that happens I save their order just in case, but most of the time they are thinking I didn't really want _____ anyway and that is so ____ expensive, they can't charge me, click. And even in those instances they would prefer to tell you off at how "your company" is gaugeing them and they could go to ___ and get one for $0.45. My feeling is then ___ go to ___ and pick it up and leave me alone I don't price this stuff and it is not my fault you seriously need it and our parts store it 8 miles away and closed cuz you are on eastern time and they are not open tomorrow.

As you can tell I had a day. The hospital visit and the following week I had appointments and am on a new medication. the hubby and I have come to the determination that I need ot drink A LOT more water. I always have cotton mouth and started making weird lip smaking noises when I eat. Sexy I know...
In the vein of saving money and at the hubbys request I had been growing out my hair. I have an appt to get a trim and color done on Tuesday. I will try to upload a pic with the kiddos help.

Oh so back to the cnn story, they was mention of first time home owners getting a BIG tax break to purchase a new home and then later in the story the downside would eb that they have to pay back the govt. because it would be considered a loan. SO what would the benefit be to get that 'deal' and get a home. I look at our place and think of it as home, we have our things where we want them, space is a bit snug, but it is ours. sort of.

In other news.......
I need to get back to me, what I want to do and why I want to do it. I have been enjoying making all these baby things while at work, the mindless mitered squage baby blankets look tremendous (pics to follow) and the booties and hat are adorable (pics taken just not up yet). It keeps me calm with the nasties on the phone and I have somehting ot show for it. There are other people that have coloring books and the 64 pack of crayons. You know I can justify that with the 17 y.o. but the 20/30+ doing that is a little iffy. I am sure if they really saw that I have pointy sticks and scissors (weapons in the eye of the air transit authority) they would sing a different tune, but I am not bugging anyone so it is ok. I found that I was anoyed when ever I would get a call and was trying ot read. Kept losing my place.
Maybe things will be different when the kiddo gets back ot school in a couple of weeks. I guess we will see.

Oh right now I am making a cashmere scarf. it is lovely, not sure who its for yet, but it is lovely. I will need to block it, pics to follow hahahaha, that should be a tag line, pics to follow.

Well there you go the mini update and pics to follow.

i am slowly sinking into a path of insanity.

Yesterday morning i woke up and heated some rice, made lunch, and then left for work.
I forgot to eat -___________-
I was really hungry at 10 and it took me a while to realize that I left my food in the microwave.

I'm volunteering today and I'm really excited. I get to help kids paint and personalize their desks.
since it's from 10-2 i'm going to half skip lunch with my family
and they invited some friends over and I won't be there half the time. HUZZAH! I keep accidentally not being around for weird matchmaking.

Only that guy's family is interested and I told mom a bunch of times that I'm not interested at all or ever. My mom helps me out a bit too and tells them that it's not their business (meaning the parents) because his mom keeps telling my mom "Won't you consider my son?"
Mom and I are both "WTF you're asking the wrong person"

Sign ups and IJ sulking
I am so pleased with the sign ups we're getting for the exchange. Innovative and clever and all sorts of ideas that just are begging to be written. Seriously good stuff.

~bounce~

I think we should suggest adopting bunnies afterwards, if people fancied writing up some of them, don't you?

And I x-posted the fangirl tour to IJ last night.

And there are three comments on it there.

From last year, about my job search.

Erm.... IJ really is falling apart you know.

caterpillars chowing down
they look like tent caterpillars, but aren't either of the 3 species i know, and the tent is kinda meager. they eat more like leaf miners; just the top of the leaves. hard to photograph because the focus wanted to settle on the tent.

walklog:

7-25 biggs park, partial: 2.52 km, 0:51, elevation gain 187m. just a walk to walk; very humid today because warmfront moved in (no rain; wish it would).

Ocotpus Afghan II
Just completed my first commissioned project. I was happy to have a second try at the octopus afghan since with my first one I ended up messing up a leg. I really like how this turned out!

Here is a view of the backside and the ruffly border.

Want to get one too? You can commission one as well!

Fangirl Friday on the Fangirl tour
X-posted to [info]fangirl_tour

I have to limit myself to thirteen recs, apparently. And how shall I do that...

There will be less HGSS than you would expect.

I've tried to be eclectic and entertaining. I hope you find something to like amongst this lot.

I just opened up a new business with BF.  We will be building and selling computers through a webstore.  www.jonez-pwnz.com
It's pretty exciting so far, being my own boss for once.  I can get used to this lol.  So, uh, buy a computer from me?  Pretty please?

In other news, I got accepted to Our Lady of the Lake University for the fall semester.  They threw almost $6000 at me in financial aid, but I still have to find a way to scrape up another $4000 by August 5th.  Odelay!  Life is interesting!  I find it bizarre that I am not in the least bit worried about how I'm going to come up with that much money.

I'm not a knitter..
Really. I had plans to take lessons this weekend with E, but with one thing and another, and mostly because she caught my cold.. that's off. But I'm knitting more pendant bags because I can do it when I'm fuzzy from medication and I have lots of orange perle cotton. What I didn't have was the right color beads for the strap. So I remembered that the Alaska Bead Company is open until 9 on Thursdays (they close at 7 the rest of the week) and went and got the right color beads for the straps.
The first one I made is has a 14 stitch cast on like the link above, but instead of the
xxxx0xxx0xxx0xxxx patterning, it's xxx0xx0xx0xx0xx0xxx, so 5 columns of beads instead of 3. Other then that, it's pretty close to the same pattern, but I made a flap for it. I need to take a look at knitting patterns to see how they are written to be able to write what I did, but really.. if I did it? A real knitter could LOOK at it and tell what I did right?
The one I'm working on now is a bit bigger, not much, still a pendant bag.

I could NOT find the right shade of accents, so I got "close enough" and picked up Miyuki size 8s that are really close.

I need knitting lessons so badly.

sounds of this morning:

swish swish of cars driving on wet city street
plop plop plip plop plop plop plip plop of rain on the skylight
whir of the window fans trying to move humid air soup around the room
whir-grr of the air filter that is almost always on
the scritch scritch scritch of scratching my head
whistle-scream of the tea kettle
rip of opening up the individually packaged tea bag
thunder rumble rumble
click of my keyboard
the slow but steady mumblemumble of Unlikely Lass waking up
talking from the radio telling me all the public radio news
my mother's voice on the phone telling me she's on her way out her door and should be at mine around four this afternoon
