I am pleased to announce that the ArmadilloCon 31 website is live and ready for business. Several pages still need some content, but you can now purchase your membership online and we will have more content up soon.
Thanks to finnswake and Baskin-Robbins for the awesome design idea! After all, it doesn't get any better than Baskin-Robbins around Valentine's Day in my opinion. (Mmmmm.... Love Potion #9 anyone? Hands down, the best ice cream EVER.)

| Filking |
[Aug. 8th, 2007|09:23 am] |
Someone asked the question about filking, and I thought I'd address that here. Over the last several years, we haven't had any organized filking at ArmadilloCon, because we haven't had someone to organize it.
However, it's my experience that there's generally a lot of spontaneous filking to be found during ArmadilloCon. And I just recently got an email from someone called Fax Palladin who will be having an open filk as a room party.
I don't know any details other than that, and I'm sure he'll post more information around the hotel for anyone interested in joining him. I have requested the hotel place him on the party floor.
So hopefully many of you will be able to get your filk on this weekend! |

| AC 29 early registration closing on Monday |
[Aug. 2nd, 2007|09:44 am] |
If you know of someone who's planning to come and still needs to purchase a membership, please let them know that the deadline for early registration is Monday. This is to allow us time to get membership materials put together. The current rate is $30, and will go up to $40 at the door. Memberships may be purchased online at http://www.armadillocon.org/membership/index.htm.
Also, if you love ArmadilloCon as much as we do, plan to pre-purchase your membership for next year at the discounted rate of $25 for the weekend. The rates next year will be going up (although the rate schedule has not yet been set). This is in large part due to higher costs with our hotel, and other expenses.
See you all next week! |

| Room parties |
[Jul. 31st, 2007|02:08 pm] |
|
If you are planning to have a room party at ArmadilloCon this year, please send me an email as soon as possible at chair@armadillocon.org. We are going to put the room parties on one floor (the same floor as gaming and the con suite), which I think will work well for everyone. |

| ArmadilloCon 29 charity auction |
[Jul. 16th, 2007|04:12 pm] |
This year's charity is the Allen Babcock Dog and Cat Rescue, Inc. of South Florida, a no-kill 501(c)(3) animal rescue organization. The Babcock Rescue takes in injured and abused animals, gets them the necessary veterinary care that they need, and then finds them homes after their rehabilitation. They take in animals most other rescue groups will not take in, and fill an important need within the South Florida animal rescue community. They do not get their veterinary services for free, and as a result, operate on a very tight budget.
The Babcock Rescue was founded by my father, Allen Babcock after he retired from Bell South in 1997. He was able to devote a lot of time and energy to this group. My father passed away earlier this year, and the Babcock Rescue is trying very hard to honor his legacy, but it has been a difficult transition for them, and they need donations more than ever.
Any items that would be of interest to ArmadilloCon's members will be gratefully accepted as donations. This can include (but is not limited to) DVDs, CDs, videos, books (of course), galleys, art prints, jewelery, small art objects, genre-related toys, and pretty much anything else that fans would like.
Items for the charity auction may be mailed in advance of ArmadilloCon, or dropped off at con at the FACT table just inside the Dealer's Room.
Our mailing address is:

| ArmadilloCon party this weekend at ApolloCon |
[Jun. 22nd, 2007|10:08 am] |

Also, if you have not yet purchased your ArmadilloCon membership, we will be selling them this weekend at ApolloCon. Flyers will be available in the Dealer's Room at Adventures in Crime and Space.
And be sure to congratulate FACT member and all-around nice guy A. T. Campbell, III, since he is ApolloCon's Fan Guest of Honor this year. |
