cantaloupes!

ceramics project! we had to use hobby molds, and a make a mold of our choice. I used goose hobby molds for the stems, and made a mold from a cantaloupe for the cantaloupe. The vine is shiny rope/cord.

Wow! What is a hobby mold? We never got to try those in beginning ceramics.

My teacher bought a bunch of them for our class to practice with. They are really kitschy plaster molds of ducks and geese, pumpkins, reindeer, santas, mailboxes, and angels.

oops, that was me. Yeah..anyway. My teacher David loves throwing really commercial ceramic stuff into the mix. It is a part of ceramic world and ceramic history that he wants us to address. He and Sarah, who run the studio, promised us that they wouldn't fire the work unless it was full of irony and wit! They don't want us making christmas presents from commercial molds. :)

Are those little figurines of geese wrapped up in the vine?
