I tried to see if these questions had been previously asked, but could find no specifics. I’m applying to four schools overseas and two domestic for international media/communications MA programs. They have rolling or June deadlines.
1) In obtaining a letter of recommendation from my current employer I’m conflicted about the best person to ask. I currently work at one of the largest international non-profits in the Los Angeles County affiliated branch. I could ask one of the following:
a. the CEO/President, her name, position, and Los Angeles contacts could benefit me in applying to a few L.A. schools, but she doesn’t work with me everyday and know the breadth of what I do.
b. my direct supervisor (she knows my daily tasks and projects and could probably elaborate on my abilities with a personal touch).
c. the Director of an International program I worked with through my current non-profit in Los Angeles. (he works with me about once a week and has worked with many different global non-profits, political campaigns, the list goes on and on. And he is also very well-known by other non-protits, schools, etc.)
2) I work in my current job as AmeriCorps, but am unsure how to emphasize the fact that I’m AmeriCorps in my applications. Anyone that has information on serving/applying would be greatly appreciated.
