Calendar Overload

I can't claim innocence on this one. I added 288 indefinitely repeating daily alarm events to iCal and then synced them to my iPhone. Everything worked fine initially, but when I later tried to remove the calendar iTunes couldn't do it. I suspect because the alerts themselves were interfering with the sync process. I tried replacing the data on the phone, turning calendar syncing on then off, restarting the iPhone, but nothing changed. The calendar app couldn't load on the iPhone itself, none of my other calendars or alerts were working, and my syncs repeatedly failed after long delays. I wound up erasing and restoring to factory settings, discarding the backup and setting it up as a new non-syncing iPhone.

Long story short: don't do this.

Probably a silly question but can I use my first gen iphone power cords with the 3G phone? I know the 3G is slimmer but I didn't know if that effects the charging thing at the bottom or not, if it's smaller or whatever.

I want to upgrade because my first gen is a little glitched, I can't hear calls or texts incomig sometimes, so when I look at my phone it BLOWS UP with calls/texts that went "ignored". I also have the speaker glitch where if I take out my headset out of the jack quick it won't realize I'm out of that mode & I can't hear anyone unless they are speaker phone.
Small but annoying glitches.

My only concern if I love my louis vuitton case for my phone, it's a hard molded cover that snaps on, & it probably won't fit on the slimmer 3G model, pout pout pout.

Syncing movies V tv shows

Quick question on syncing that I'm hoping someone can help with.

When I connect my iPhone to my ibook and the control window opens in iTunes on the video tab I can see options for
*rented movies
*tv shows
*movies.

When I drop a tv show into iTunes it shows up as 'movie' in the 'media type.' It appears fine in the movie window and I can choose to sync or no.
However, if I change it to 'tv show' in the 'media type' it still syncs to my iPhone but I can't see it anywhere on iTunes anymore, so I can't delete it from my phone.
(If I choose 'music video' it appears in the 'music videos playlist' and I can select/deselect fine.)

Under the 'tv show' menu in the video tab the box where I should be able to click on the tv shows I want is empty.

Is there a tv show menu I have lost somewhere?

i'm really loving my 3g iphone. one question though: is there any way of setting it so that when you receive a text message it doesn't display practically the whole message on the screen before you unlock the phone to view it? i know the screen goes black again fairly quickly, but i don't always carry my phone around with me (like when i get up from my desk at work every time) and if possible i'd rather not have an incoming text be visible to anyone who might be walking by (or sitting next to me).

I'm going to be receiving the first generation iphone due to a friend upgrading to the 3G. I already have AT&T and signed a new contract 6 months ago. Am I going to have to sign a new contract when I get the iphone or will I just have to pop in my sim card? I've googled and haven't found a certain answer so I figured you guys/girls could help me. Airplane mode + Wi-Fi

I just discovered I can turn on wifi while in airplane mode. The effect is that the cellular service turns off completely but I can still access the internet through a hotspot. This was useful tonight as my GSM static was causing the TV to spark and flare while I only wanted to check my email and wasn't interested in taking calls.

I'm curious, is there any way to email more than one photo from the Photo application at a given time? On my older dinosauric Palm Treo, I could attach several emails to a given email and send them together.

Just bought a new iphone, synched it to my itunes, downloaded the latest update...

I can't get signal. I've driven round my whole town, I can't make calls or send texts and it's driving me mad!! I just went to the store I bought it from (o2) and they said to wait a day as it says "waiting for activation" (and maybe it might take a day for them to register it??) when you turn it on. There's an option to dismiss it or leave it, I left it for 45 minutes at the longest and still nada. I can't get signal in any rooms in my house, my town centre or anywhere!!

Anyone know what to do/had this problem?

I've been looking for a schedule app, one that has the same basic functions as the calendar. Not a to do list, though. I want something that enters times, not just tasks, and I'd really not clutter up my calendar with day-to-day things. Any suggestions within a reasonable price range?

Frozen Phone

my phone has been frozen for about 30 minutes. It wont power off, when I call it it goes to voice mail, and its not dimming at all. It did this after un connecting it after a failed attempt to sync it. Anyway to unfreeze it? its warm to the touch and i doubt it can be good for it not to go to sleep

Every time I try to plug in my iPhone into my PC I get the following error:

iTunes could not connect to the iPhone '''' because an invalid response was received from the device.

I try to go to my computer to click on the photos drive but it opens and there are no images. This is upseting me because I have a bunch of pictures that I want to upload onto my computer and I can't. I could send them through and e-mail but we all know that the iPhone only allows you to send 1 picture in an e-mail.

I want to try and restore the iPhone from the jailbreak, but my PC is not connecting to the iPhone, I don't know what to do. I can't even add any music, pictures, apps, etc.

Someone please help! Any ideas?

Dropped Calls in Canada

From what I understood, spotty 3G coverage and poor call quality was a predominately AT&T issue. I'm in Toronto on Rogers and I would put money on the fact that not ONE phone call since I purchased the phone (middle of August) went successfully. My most common problem is in the middle of a call, usually anywhere from the first 10 seconds to 5 minutes, the call will become garbled and I cannot hear the other person. However, they can hear me clear as day. The odd time they'll say it sounds like I'm in a tunnel, but for the most part it's just an issue on my end. I have spotty coverage in my basement apartment as well, but so does my boyfriend with his Rogers Blackberry (though he gets more 'bars' than I do).

What I was wondering was if anyone else in Canada are having these problems with Rogers? Has anyone called into Care to see if it's a problem with the phone? Did they replace it, or tell you to sit tight?

I called awhile ago about the battery life and they didn't replace the phone at all, they told me to turn off 3G. Wtf is the point of the phone then? Bah. It's a shame because I love all the other features of the phone - it's just unfortunate that the MAIN function has so many issues.

I'll answer my own question:

1. Urbanspoon: I've used it to find the closest Vietnamese Restaurant to me. Great information given with a fun game-like flair.

2. Weather Bug: Being able to pull up doppler maps saved my ass many times over while camping on vacation this year. Was being hammered by bands of storms from Hurricane Fay.

3. Scrabble is still my favorite. Spore: Origins was fun but I still get more joy from Scrabble.

Anyone? (tap tap) This thing on?

I tried to update to 2.1 several times. iTunes downloads the update, begins to install, and then I get a message about "mistake -30".
Did any of you guys have the same kind of problem? I suppose I am not alone. How did you resolve?

I'm sorry if this question has already been addressed in this community, but is there any way that I can use make/use a ringtone as a text message tone? Preferably without having to jailbrake my iPhone.

I download my iPhone ringtones from audiko.net, so if I could use those ringtones as text tones that would rule. :)

The Monster car charger/FM transmitter I used with my 40GB iPod doesn't charge my iPhone in the car. I was considering buying this version that supports the 3G iPhone (Monster® iCarPlay™ Wireless 250 FM Transmitter with AutoScan for iPod® and iPhone™).

Does anyone use this now and can recommend it? I've been really happy with the one I have for the last four years but my iPod died recently so I need to use the iPhone in the car. Thanks for your help ...
