I appear to have fallen out of the habit of making icons. Not good.

Since it has been about a year since I last posted icons (I'm not sure if this is an exaggeration or not; that's the terrifying part), I bring to you those few I have made since I last posted. They're all music-themed, as this is the direction in which my icons seem to be generally headed.

Hello, community!

Apparating is undergoing some major design changes at the moment. There is a new user info page and layout in place, and I'm going to work with Lisa and Leslie to get all of the entries tagged so it's easier for you to find things.

For those of you who are affiliated with the community, our affiliates list is going to be moved from the profile page to a journal entry within the next day or so.

There should be a new icon post coming up shortly, but don't forget that you can make requests or subject suggestions on any of the previous entries so we can try to make what you want to see.

I decided to make a tutorial after making an icon and realizing I was very fond of the colouring. It's actually similar to the colouring technique I use on a regular basis, so this is my two cents on an alternative to icon colouring.

Go from this to

Difficulty: Easy to medium. It's best if you know the basics of your graphic program but I tried to explain things in as much detail as I could. Please note that I made this tutorial using Photoshop CS2. I'm sure it can be translated in some extent to other Photoshop programs, but I have no experience with PSP. There is a selective colouring step, but it's optional. I've included a .psd for the basic layers used.
