According to the UK media, Adam Ant is meeting with promoters to plan gigs.

Probably only over in the UK for now, but hey, those of us in North America now have reason to hope!

Awww, man. Adam is so sweet - going on and on about the "craftsmen" that made his Prince Charming costume and then sitting quietly while the hairdresser and makeup artist speak so seriously about the Prince Charming "look".

I hope this hasn't been posted before (my apologies if it has) - in fact I am SURE it has since the vid seems to belong to our lovely mod (if  this is really objectionable, please feel free to delete....). I am reposting for the benefit of us newbs. I think it's just fun to see Adam talking.

well hello there, fellow ant people!
i have no idea why this didn't occur to me to post this so i'll do it now.
long story short: for a hobby that became a fun small business, i customise dolls for people who request them. after much of me going on and on about adam ant, as most of us do, it was FINALLY requested of me to make an adam in his stand and deliver era clothing (mostly i made the costume from the video clip but took a few elements from other outfits of his from the same era).

so here he is, my adam ant doll who went to a loving home of another ant fan.

I was thrilled to hear that my favorite band of all time, No Doubt, will be covering "Stand and Deliver." They'll be on Gossip Girl May 11 performing the song. I went on the No Doubt message board and everyone was like, "ooo who is this Adam Ant? He seems really cool!" Oooh they don't even know. It's so amazing for me to have my favorite band cover one of my favorite songs by my OTHER favorite band. How do you guys think it will turn out?

Been a fan since the Ants Invasion tour (Greek Theatre, Hollywood, Nov. '81 - gracious).

The BBC notes that today marks the 100th Anniversary of the Futurist Manifesto (pdf) and I though fellow antfans would be amused at the very least.

i. From The Family of Noise: 'An interview with the man that signed Adam & the Ants to CBS Records in 1980.' Read it here!

Howard Thompson was the artists and repertoire (a&r) person responsible for scouting for new and existing acts for CBS. Howard was asked by Falcon Stuart, Adam's manager at the time, to go and see the band at the Empire in Leicester Square. After listening to a demo tape of Kings Of The Wild Frontier twice, Howard agreed to see them... The rest, as we say, is (making) history!

Once again, I'm irritated that there's one more person that took Adam's 'flirtation with fascist symbols' seriously, but I like this quote: 'His audience was punk but it was like a Gary Glitter show. Totally showbiz, thoroughly entertaining, and it ROCKED. It was dirty/sweet and sexy as hell. Lots of Mohawks and bondage pants, people with ANTS written on their faces in mascara, or tattoo’d somewhere. Leather jackets. Adam had found his audience and they were ready to dance or have sex right there and then. But it wasn’t smutty or sordid, it was joyous and expressive.' Holy hell... I'm even more jealous of the fans back then now.

ii. When Adam got involved with Malcolm McLaren, Malcolm gave him a mix-tape of songs to draw inspiration from, which Adam entitled 'Homework'. The Music For A Future Age blog has put a media player of all 16 tracks (excluding the 'belly dance music') on this page.
