Dress
So Ive been making my dress, Im not much of a sewer, so I first had to kind of teach myself a bit more of sewing. Ive been sewing almost nonstop for the past 2 weeks.

My original design I had to throw out the window, as it looked horrible on me. (I didnt finish it, I only made part of the bodice and realized quickly that it sucked) So I came up with an easier design, more attainable for my sewing and sizing skills.

At first I liked it, then I hated it, thinking it wasnt "anti" enough. And then I ran into this:
http://offbeatbride.com/2007/05/your-wedding-is-not-a-contest
And realized my dress is fine. Nobody has a dress like it, and I made it all by myself, and I suppose thats kind of cool as well.

This is it, mostly done. I havnt sewn in the back zipper or hemmed the bottom yet. But I was finally able to wear it tonight. Ive sewn 10 practice bodices, 2 previous "final" bodices that I messed up on, and I make a trip to Joannes (fabric store) every day or every other day.

It shouldn't be too cold, at least nothing like back East. Once the sun comes up, which it does really early, it starts to heat up fast. The Strip also acts as an artificial heat trap due to all the buildings/people/etc. By the end of the week the lows on the Strip should be in the 40s, but you'll be partially in the shade and that does get chilly.

Hopefully we'll have kicked our gloomy drizzle and high winds by the time you get her! This weekend was miserable.

It's a great dress -- and don't worry thinking whether or not it's "anti" enough. My wedding looked pretty damn traditional (www.sheeri.com/wedding, watch the 16 minute full ceremony video if you want a few laughs) but it was "anti" because we THOUGHT about EVERY detail. I wanted a white dress, and I got one (but it had gold too!). I didn't want my parents standing up with me at the end of the aisle, but I did want them to walk me down the aisle. We wanted good food so we had a caterer friend arrange food that we'd bought as "a very large takeout order for 150 people" from our favorite restaurant. Oh, and it was in my husband's childhood home, in the backyard. We did everything ourselves, including renting the china.

Antibride means thinking about what you want and doing it. And if that means you think about it and end up with a 'traditional' wedding, so be it.

The most traditional thing we had was the flowers, we had "Florist wedding flowers," because my mother wanted to do something, and she's a traditionalist, so I told her she could do the flowers. Although I wanted roses, and for a June wedding, roses are in season, so they ended up costing her less than my sister's wedding (also 150ish people, but 5 years previous!). (and considerably less than either of my brothers' weddings, one brother spent on flowers what we spent on 1/2 the wedding!)
