You guessed it folks, this is a humble community for those who consider Amy Lee (or rather, Mrs Hartzler) of Evanescence to be an undertalented, hypocritical egomaniac. We do not dislike her because we are immature or have no lives, we dislike her because she makes our ears (and eyes ) bleed with her overly ProTooled rubbish, which is very apparent on The Open Door. We do not consider Ev goth but rather angsty, as her brand of tortured white teenaged upper-middle class “angst pop” suggests sloppy eyeliner and bad poetry, and wandering around McDonalds looking lost. Tinkling around on a piano, dressing funny and singing crowd-pleasing ballads does not make you a rock star. It makes you Elton John (and a bad imitation one at that).

We find her claw to fame hilarious and pathetic. Her ego has grown to the point where she disregards and dismisses the other members’ input and songwriting ( Lee accuses guitarist Moody of plagiarising existing songs for their debut LP and hopes fans will appreciate her new album for its originality. *"I think we just needed a guitar player who could make his own guitar riffs instead of ripping everyone else's off." * "At one point, all my piano-playing rights were stripped away from me because Ben felt like I was getting too much attention, so we hired a keyboard player [David Hodges]" * "John and Rocky both made it clear they were ready to move on, I meant it. They were very vocal about the fact that they didn't really care about evanescence at all, and just stayed around for the money." * "They didn't want to be a part of Evanescence anymore, because they were hoping to co-wrote songs in the album and it didn't work out. They weren't there for the art, that’s for sure, and it created a bad vibe. The heart of this band - which is ME - stayed, and that’s what important. "

She lambasts female pop artists for pandering to kids * "What bothers me about so many female pop artists is that sexuality is the only subject matter, or at least the majority of it, because sex sells. The most successful musicians of our time dont even write their own music. Its all scripted, ingenuine slop that has a catchy hook and a great cleavage singing lead. The real message of the music is that we're all fools for buying into a manufactured package fronted by a real live person and not much else. The most offensive thing about it is that alot of these artists got their start with children's programming (the disney channel, nickelodeon etc.), so their fanbase at least began with kids...Of course we all know that it's still kids. That's the worst part.” ---

* Yet who do we see in cute pigtails on the friday night kids’ show of Cartoon Network performing a song she wrote entitled My Cartoon Network---AMY!!

Add this with her atrocious live performances (even current fans are disappointed that Amy cannot sing or play the songs properly). Many fans believe (or USED to believe) that Amy’s voice was quite the most beautiful thing they’ve ever heard. (Maybe because they work in a steel mill?) Yet despite her years in choir she STILL incredibly manages to suck live, even when she’s sitting down and not writhing around like a harpy caught in some power lines. All she’s capable of is whispering and screeching in that vile tone of hers. She sings straight through her nose, takes great gulps of air, sounding like a cat on PCP.

And no matter how hilarious you think that fangirl is singing on YouTube, don't post it---this community is about Amy and her behavior/performances. Just as long as you present your arguments and opinions in a civil and intelligent manner with little profanity, you'll be good.
