Compare and contrast -- Carly vs Amy singing "Going Under" Live [Jun. 24th, 2009|11:09 pm]

itapyourphone
They both have trouble with the low notes live, but it really seems like Carly is able to hit the highs on the chorus and bridge in a healthy-sounding chest voice without going screechy. Amy looks like she's in pain trying to get out that high D note.

More fun....related to amy lee getting owned :P [Jun. 19th, 2009|10:22 pm]

http://www.evboard.com/1162753-post16.html

I particularly like this part

"Q:Tell us the story of how this came together.

To be completely truthful this began in 2003. There was a point in time before I left Evanescence when Rocky (Gray) and John (LeComte) and I sat down and said, this thing is going in a different direction, and we all love the music that we make together and we all contemplated doing it with someone else. But the timing wasn’t right and it wasn’t something I was willing to rush in to, but something needed to change so I left."

So Amy was actually who they were trying to cut out...it just so happened that Ben left...amy got the band by default, they didn't even really want her :P

And this part sounds like the little dictator

"Q: How is The Fallen different from Evanescence?
BM: Its different in the fact that this is a real band. It was never set up that way in the past. This band is one hundred percent democracy. Everyone is equal. Everyone brings their own crap to the table. And what also is different is that I believe it's better. "

AMY LEE GETTING OWNED [Jun. 18th, 2009|12:31 pm]

denythesymptoms
By Brian Mansfield, Special for USA TODAY
American Idol powerhouse vocalist Carly Smithson is joining the original guys of Evanescence, who are relaunching as a hard-rock band called The Fallen.

They'll make a formal announcement Monday in Hollywood, with a news conference and their first live performance. Debut song Bury Me Alive will be available at that time for free download at wearethefallen.com.

The lineup consists of Smithson and three of the four original members of Evanescence — guitarists Ben Moody and John LeCompt and drummer Rocky Gray — as well as bassist Marty O'Brien, whose recording and touring credits include Disturbed and Kelly Clarkson.

"This all happened by accident," says Smithson, who sang Evanescence's Bring Me to Life during the 2008 Idols Live tour. She's friends with Moody's housemate, Monique Morrison. "I met him once or twice (at the house) before the band thing," says Smithson, who had been working on a solo project.

Though Smithson and Moody both shared similar visions with Morrison for bands they wanted to form, Moody wasn't ready to bite.

"I'm sometimes hard-headed, and it took me a while" to give the Idol a shot, Moody says. But when another artist persuaded him to check out YouTube videos of Smithson performing, "I just kind of freaked out."

Moody called Morrison and asked her to arrange a meeting. "She happened to be with Carly and said, 'We'll be there in 20 minutes.'

"Carly is a rock star," he adds. "She was one of us."

She isn't the first Idol to attract the interest of an established act: Season 5 finalist Chris Daughtry turned down an offer to become Fuel's frontman. But Smithson jumped at her chance. "The first time we rehearsed, everybody started in on this jam of Iron Maiden. I was like, 'I'm in a band! I love this!' "

The new group's name alludes to Evanescence's 2003 major-label debut album, Fallen, which has sold 7 million copies in the USA.

Moody left Evanescence shortly after Fallen, citing creative differences with singer Amy Lee. LeCompt and Gray followed in 2007. Lee continues to perform under the Evanescence name, though the group hasn't released an album since 2006.

The Fallen plans to tour in September and initially will release its songs in small doses every few months, Moody says, "so there's always new music and new reasons to come to another show."

whatever happened? : Lacrymosa [Jan. 3rd, 2009|12:26 pm]

within_me_666
To Amy lee suing her manager and vise versa? I never heard anything else after it was annouced.

Also my 9 year old cousin who is a Ev fanatic pointed something out to me today when she was listening to The Open Crap. Amy has that she wrote Lacrymosa. No mention of Mozart at all. Eh? Is that Palgarism? She did NOT write "Lacrimosa". A great artist wrote that. All she did was add the 'Woe is me, fuck you Ben, Shaun' lyrics to it. I don't know how I missed that, didn't notice til my couson told me today.

Not really interesting as such...just a bit lazy and unoriginal, going with big eyed creatures. This time with an underwater theme.

OH an she posted again

http://www.evthreads.com/showpost.php?p=907161&postcount=23

Pretty much sounds like a rehash of the crap she spewed around the time of the fallen/open door gap.

Hey everybody! Happy holidays.
I'm glad you like my lunchbox, I spent about a week of my life obsessing over it. Its funny, everytime I finish one of these things I'm like, 'Rats I really want to keep this now!' Anyone ever see that pair of Ugs I did a few years ago? I collected about a million little care bears, beanies, legos and whatever else, then sewed and glued them all over the surface of those things. They were like giant transformer feet. I loved those! Anyway, not the point. The lunchbox auction is a great cause and the proceeds go to feeding hungry people in New York and South Africa. And hey, if this art stuff is too rich for your blood, maybe go help out at the soup kitchen for an hour or two this year. Or bake a pie for your doorman. Everybody likes pie, and those who don't like pie still like knowing there's someone out there who cares about them enough to make them a pie.
About the music... you all should know that I am writing, and expanding my mind. I always want to feel like there is no roof on what I allow myself to do creatively, so I'm exploring a lot of different things right now. Try to be patient, and I promise you will end up with something worth the wait. As far as the "film and tv" thing and what thats supposed to mean, you probably know that scoring and writing for film has always been a dream of mine, and I'm seriously trying to pursue that. I miss performing and seeing you guys and I hope you have a great holiday season!
Oh and by the way, if you haven't seen Steven Colbert's Christmas special yet, your'e in for a really tasty treat. It's freaking hilarious and my family and I think its the best Christmas special since Pee Wee's.

love,
Amy
