Ive got two rabbits thawing in the fridge right now. Torrow I will be throwing one in the crock pot. The other, smaller one will be given to my dog as a nice snack. So I don't know if I will add some cream of mushroom soup to it, or make into rabbit and noodles or what. What ever I decide will be delicious.
I also plan to save the others (those not used as dog food), and cook them up for our family reunion at the end of the month. I may make something and foold them into thinking its chicken. :P
I am proud that I grew these animals myself, and will making some home cooked goodness with them. Just thought I would share. :P
Also butt hurt vegans from the rabbit vet list. :P This is one is convinced anti_vegan is mine.

This one that can't seem to grasp the concept of using tact in her comments. Same person that claimed she was purchasing sick rabbits from breeders to euthanize, rescue them, or whatever.
http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/RabbitVet/message/26215
And by chance I found their little vegan group. Where they are talking all kinds of shit about how they hate the evil meat rabbit breeders on moderators on rabbit vet, and rabbit vet talk. :P

I am having some rabbits butchered this weekend. A couple will be for dog food. Ive neverfed them to my dog before. S would be wise to debone the carass before feeding to her. Which woul dbe better? Raw or cooked?
And so this is not too ot I will be thinking of all the crazy half starved vegans when I cook up a delious dish of either rabbit and noodles, or rabbit and noodle casserole, from one of my home grown animals this week. Yummy!
Also if anyone wants to share some good rabbit recipes that would be great.

This was taken from a rabbit list I am on. And thought I would share since a couple of people are going off on the breeders (mainly me and dennis) about how rabbits/animals have rights, and we don't deserve to have them since we keep the majority of them as livestock. Did I also mention these people are vegetarians, and peta supporters?
animals have the right to eat and such and yes they have the right to fend themselves so they dont get eaten! no matter how you look at it. when a dog cowers in fear from a human its their right to be afraid! a dog has the right to run after another animal. WE give the animals right! ANIMALS in captivity are what we make them! look at your pitbulls some are nice n loving and some are nasty SOB's its cause we allow it to happen and its their right to act upon it! humans have their rights taken away as well! and dont tell me they dont! thats what jail is for! to keep humans in captivity under control! lucia its ok! and i agree with YOU!!!!!
and those who think animals dont have rights you better do your DAM homework! why do you think we fight gainst killing animals for their fur....... they have the right to live man doesnt have to go killing them! what about when a baby is born and it has to be put in ICU its given the right to fight for life! why do you think ainimal shelters fight to save animals cause its their right to survive! every breathing animal has a right to life! just like you do!
remember our pets are what we make them! if we abuse them they have the right to be scared become biters etc if we love and nurture our pets they have the right to love us back if they choose to!
i think some on this group need to go to animal classes and learn a thing or two!
I was going to post another, but just decided to link to one instead. :P The group messages are open. There is lots of AR peta drama to sift through. :P But this one is lol.

Another note I may be cooking up one of my home grown rabbits soon. Found someone willing to butcher for me. yum!

10:29 am - BBQ Tuesday!

My local grocery store had a great sale on pork spareribs- I snagged up a cryovac 3-pack of HUGE meaty ribs for about $12. We recently cut down some big dead branches from one of the plum trees, and lopped 'em into nice fat logs for the smoker.
I gave the ribs a rub last night with my fave 'simple' formula: ground red (cayenne) pepper and seasoned salt, then let them rest overnight. Started the fire about 7am with some nice plum logs, then put the meat on at 7:30 with a water pan under them (close to the firebox) to keep the smoke moist.
They'll be slow smoked over plum wood until late this afternoon. If they aren't tender enough, I'll cut 'em into half-racks and put in a turkey oven bag and cook on the lowest oven setting for a couple of hours (they literally fall off the bone this way). I've got some Budweiser BBQ sauce and Sweet Baby Ray sauce sitting in the fridge waiting for 'em...
I've got a Brinkmann Pitmaster, btw:
Damn shame the vegans can't enjoy the magic that will emerge from this thing in a few more hours...lol

"NEW YORK — The granddaughter of Cuban revolutionary leader Ernesto "Che" Guevara is at the forefront of another revolution — for vegetarianism.
Lydia Guevara poses semi-nude in a PETA campaign that tells viewers to "join the vegetarian revolution," said PETA spokesman Michael McGraw."

Well, this is interesting....some Canadian MPs are suggesting that the Canadian Olympic team should incorporate sealskin into their team uniforms for the 2010 winter Olympics. Cue vegan bitching: 3... 2... 1...
Personally, I'd like to get some sealskin clothing for myself - or make it. Anyone know where a guy can buy seal skins? It'd make a great winter coat!

I was at Safeway the other day and they had the coolest reuseable grocery bag ever. In fact it's so cool I will probably be using it for a purse.
And yes, I am a huge nerd for Steak.
( my steak bag let me show it to you ) It has a ton of information about their meat on the sides of the bag, but it lists all the types of steak on the side. I've seen really expensive shitty looking actual steak bags, but this was like 1.99 so I was quite pleased.

Wow, it's been eons since I've posted here. Hi, all. Anyway...
http://www.arubaostrichfarm.com/
I'm going to Aruba for the 6th time in my life, but it will be my boyfriend's first. My mother emailed me information on the Aruba Ostrich Farm. There you can go to the ostrich petting zoo area, feed and pet them, take pictures with them... then head to the restaurant and have an ostrich burger, ostrich sashimi, ostrich steak, and so much more. I'm excited for this! I've eaten ostrich before, but never on the grounds of an ostrich farm! Neat!

There is nothing quite so nice(aside from the eating part) while sick as coming down from bed and finding a 7 pound picnic ham quietly burbling on the stove. Particularly when your mother is responsible for wrapping them for the floor and selects the nicest, meatiest one possible.

10:34 pm - Vegan rabbit owners
|

I swear to god, vegan rabbit people are nuts. This stupid bitch (and the rest of the petards on the list) has been shoving her views down our (rabbit breeders) throats for the past three weeks. Because ZOMG some of us kill the bunniezz, and also chose to keep one or two as pets, while the rest are sold as pets, show stock, or *gasp* food. Killing, and breeding = abuse in their eyes.
http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/RabbitVet/message/24028
Three weeks later she still doesn't get it that we aren't going to change and do not want to hear it.

This was on the news here last night but it hasn't made it online, probably since it's a local story. Researchers here have found a possible one dose cancer vaccine in a seal contraceptive they developed and have been using on Sable Island for a number of years. It also has applications for pandemics. They were invited to a world influenza/pandemic conference so maybe it'll go somewhere. Cool! Freaking really cool!
http://www.immunovaccine.com/press-releases.php
"Halifax, Nova Scotia – ImmunoVaccine Technologies’ (IVT) patented depot vaccine formulation, DepoVax™ is showing positive pre-clinical results, with single-dose efficacy achieved in therapeutic cancer and several infectious disease vaccine models."
"The efficacy of a single dose of a DepoVax™ formulation was shown using a Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) associated cervical cancer model. In the therapeutic C3 tumor challenge model, DepoVax™ eliminated 100% of established cancerous tumors after a single dose. In contrast, tumors remained intact when treated with a placebo vaccine. The effect of the vaccine is linked to the activation of a potent and specific cellular immune response. "
"“Typically, vaccines need booster shots to be effective, which is not an option in a pandemic situation,” said Mansour. “Our depot vaccine formulation makes a single-dose pandemic flu vaccine a strong possibility.”"
