| About: | We are against pornography.
We each oppose porn for our own reasons -- usually because of the way it depicts people and sex. We are men and women. We are christians, jews, atheists, and all else. We are NOT man- or sex-hating. Also, we are not _anti_porn. Most of us DO NOT at all oppose masturbation.
We've heard all the arguments, and, frankly, we have our minds set. Don't come bother us with particularly if you have preconceived notions about anti-porn feminists in your head. First off, most of us DO NOT advocate the banning of porn, which we believe would be a futile act, but believe in the power of socialization. Secondly, we are not just against porn because it shows 'beautiful' women and we're 'fat and ugly' or any of that bullshit. We have valid reasons for our opinions. Pornography is a damaging, patriarchal, social phenomenon, which is generally driven by nothing short of pure capitalism. It reinforces the status quo, including all kinds of inequalities and injustices.
This community is strictly for those against pornography. It is a progressive community tolerant of religious views but not extreme conservativism. Please do not join if you are against pornography because you don't like 'sluts' or because you think sex should be limited to married couples. It's a safe space for those who disagree with, dislike, feel uncomfortable with, have been abused by someone using or been abused whilst involved in porn. It's about time we had a space of our own where we weren't constantly forced to defend ourselves and our beliefs. Don't waste your breath here if you can't respect that. Please do not join or comment to debate or argue. We have no qualms with blocking people. Cutting and pasting comments or posts from ![[info]](http://p-stat.livejournal.com/img/community.gif) anti_porn to any other lj or community will get you banned unless you ask for permission from the poster. If you are interested in challenging our ideas, you may take all queries/statements to porn_debate. Either that or shove them up your ass and kindly leave us alone :)
