So I'm watching a feature about the OotP film and a certain phrase catches my attention...
"we take a look behind the scenes with Harry Potter actor Daniel Radcliffe and co-star Emma Watson..."
Aaarrgghh! Co-star??? No...just...NONONO!!!
They then proceed to show random footage of Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson on the set.
Where's Rupert? Where is he??? *tears hair out on frustration*

Has anyone seen the new OotP trailer? Harry's hair is so appalling it made me physically ill for the rest of the video.

I just watched the Goblet of Fire last night again, and how are they going to get all of Harry Potter's articles in the Daily Prophet? They have no blackmail. The Rita Skeeter/ Animagus storyline completely disapeared! Can you imagine them just using the Quibbler for the next few years? Argh. Did you hear that in the next movie Draco Malfoy becomes the king of the centaurs?

1.) Name: aimerlire
2.) Age: How rude.
3.) How long have you been a Harry Potter fan? Just after the second book came out.
4.) What was your overall impression of the Harry Potter films? A bit like a bunny trying to be all goth.
5.) What elements in the films (SS, CoS, PoA) did you dislike the most? The way everyone at warner bros. appears to be colorblind. Harry's eye's are not blue! I boycotted a bookstore once because their Harry wasn't bloody canon. Hermione's atrocious dress, a.k.a. ugliest thing ever. Periwinkle blue. Say it with me, periwinkle blue.
6.) If you met Steve Kloves (the script writer) on the street, what would you do/say to him? Hey, I have a book rec for you. It's called Harry Potter. Never heard of it? I think it's quite popular in Britain.

I couldn't resist joining this community.
1.) Name: Lauren
2.) Age: 17
3.) How long have you been a Harry Potter fan? I read the books for the first time in December of 1999. My friend Meg read them to me before that as we walked to school, and I was like "WTF is a Hufflepuff" when we played outside. :/
4.) What was your overall impression of the Harry Potter films? I've come to the conclusion that Warner Bros can't make films based on books [I saw Queen of the Damned, and I nearly died], so I saw the first one and I was like this is typical WB. Then I saw the second one, and I'm like "why do we keep drifting from the plot?" The third one was worse, and I have not seen the fourth one since I sat through it in theaters last year. In fact, the only one I really watch is the third one and that is to obsess over my weird Remus/Sirius shipping. :/
5.) What elements in the films (SS, CoS, PoA) did you dislike the most? Okay, you know what? I really liked John Williams. I liked when he composed the music. You shouldn't change composers in the middle of a series of films. It's not cool. That's a petty thing to hate about the movies though. Isn't it?
I absolutely hated Goblet of Fire. Like they're at the Quidditch World Cup and then BOOM! they're being attacked. What I hate about all the films is the running from action to action to action, no downtime to sit and reflect on what just happened. :/
I don't understand why Harry doesn't have green eyes. I don't understand why the Slytherins are in a lot of Gryffindor classes that I didn't think they were normally in. I don't understand Dumbledore after the old Dumbledore died. I miss the potions thing in PS.
6.) If you met Steve Kloves (the script writer) on the street, what would you do/say to him? I would put him under the Imperius Curse. Such a Harry Potter thing to say... Sigh.

I've been meaning to ask this. I finished chapter 12 of Harry Potter SS, The Mirror of Erised a while ago and I have a question. It's not trivia or anything like that but just an oppinion question. Here it is:
What does Dumbledore really see when he looks into the mirror?
I think he sees something along the lines of himself, but less powerful and important, and having a family of his own and maybe leading a more normal life.
What do you think?

1.) Name: H
2.) Age: 16
3.) How long have you been a Harry Potter fan? since the first movie (i.e the first movie made me want to read the books and after i read the first chapter of ps i realized how sup-par the films are)
4.) What was your overall impression of the Harry Potter films? when i watch them as just movies there ok. ss and cos i can live with, even though they overdid it with the cheese. poa i like and gof i hate. When i watch as a harry potter fan i feel cheated and hard done by. i realize that they cant fit all the info in the books in, but give me a brake. i feel sick when i think about ootf. i like that book, so if they eff it up, heads will roll
6.)If you met Steve Kloves (the script writer) on the street, what would you do/say to him? who told you had the ability to write a script? yeah, well they lied.

| Hi, Delurkificationizing here |
[02 Aug 2006|10:33am] |
I'm rererererewatching all of the HP movies due to participating in POA sporkage, so I thought I'd actually post something here finally :)
1.) Name: ScarrrrrrrrRRRRlett
2.) Age: Old enough to know better than to expect good movies to come from great books
3.) How long have you been a Harry Potter fan? Since right after CoS (book) came out, and I have no idea when that was
4.) What was your overall impression of the Harry Potter films? SS- Daniel Radcliffe irritated the hell out of me! And he still does! I think casting could have with minimal effort found someone better to play Harry than DR. Granted, most children can't act, so I shouldn't hold that against him, but could they not have stuck contacts in his fragile eyeballs and some hairspray in his perfectly neat hair? That is not HP, it is an imposter. My boyfriend who looks nothing like Harry looks more like him than "Dan" does. And where on earth is my "blonde beach ball"? CoS- I actually found this the most bearable movie. I did hate how we could TELL that DR (he is NOT Harry Potter!) was speaking Parsletongue even when the camera was from his POV. And how we all saw him see Lucius Malfoy stick Riddle's diary in Ginny's cauldron. HP would have said something had HE seen that. PoA- Just.. kill me. KILL ME. KEEELLLLL MEEEEEE. Hello idiot Lupin who is in love with Lily Potter. You though Harry's boggart would turn into Voldemort even after it, um, DIDN'T? Looks like "Dan"'s broom came a few days and a climax too late. And how do Lupin and Sirius know all about the Marauders' Map anyway? I know they didn't write it because they would have TOLD us if that were the case. GoF- I'm sorry, I'm having difficulty believing that this movie was based on any book, let alone Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.
5.) What elements in the films (SS, CoS, PoA) did you dislike the most? I didn't see this until after I wrote all that up there, so I guess my overall impression of the films could best be summed up with "bad".
6.) If you met Steve Kloves (the script writer) on the street, what would you do/say to him? Nothing, as I have no idea what he looks like and I'm non-confrontational anyway.
I had some other rant to go off on, but I totally forgot about it as this survey thing has consumed my mind.

I have something I have just recently noticed about all of the HP movies. None of them have the little funny moments that the books do! In the 4th movie for example, there is no Ton-tongue Toffee, no Canary Creams or fake wands. And even though they had the scene in the prefects bathroom with Moaning Myrtle and Harry...well that just bordered on sexual harassment. And they didn't put in the scene where Myrtle gets flushed into the lake during the second task. Also although this doesn't really fit in the subject, I really missed the creatures in the maze. And the golden mist that turned the world upside-down! So much was simply glossed over...:(

I'd like to take this opportunity to rant a little about GoF because frankly, it was horrible. Firstly, the opening scene in the Riddle House was backward. Barty Crouch Jr. was there with Peter! It's basically *bow to the darklord kisskiss AAAck! Old man die!* I wanted to scream, right there in the theater. Since I couldn't I mumbled curse words under my breath. My sister god pretty pissed at me because she's one of those people who has FORGOTTEN WHAT'S HAPPENED IN THE BOOKS and LOVES the movies. I swear I'm adopted. But I digress, back to the rant! Harry does not spend any time with the Dursleys, that's right, no Ton-Tongue Toffee! And the Weasleys never get stuck in the chimney! They never showed the World Cup. WTF?! They showed like the first two minutes and then they cut to after the World Cup when they death eaters show up. And Barty Crouch Jr. shows up and goes medieval on Harry's ass, and I go WTF?! again.
I can't go on...this will take me hours to type if I go through the whole movie, and my brain will implode.

1.) Name: Newbia
2.) Age: 14
3.) How long have you been a Harry Potter fan? I read SS in first grade (it's the first book I ever remember enjoying), so around 7 years now.
4.) What was your overall impression of the Harry Potter films? SS was okay. I wasn't blown away by any means (I almost stayed in to watch Saturday mornining cartoons rather than see the second movie), but it was okay. CoS wasn't a Casablanca either. However, I hated--HATED--Prisoner of Azkaban. It was a complete travesty! I had to actually leave the theater during the scene on the bridge where Lupin talked about Lily. I refused to see GoF, even when my friend threatened to stab me if I didn't see it (really).
5.) What elements in the films (SS, CoS, PoA) did you dislike the most? First of all, the completely new people they've replaced Harry's best friends with. Hermione has been replaced by a Supergirl who wears stylish jeans and basically does everything and saves the day, without actually being compassionate enough to fight for the rights of house elves or smart enough to read all the time (because then she might become a nerd, and the filmmakers can't have that!). Ron has been replaced by some oaf, and for some reason Harry keeps letting him hang around with him and Hermione.
Second of all, they've totally gotten rid of all the small stuff. The things that I love most about the book are the small things: the humor; how well-developed and detailed the world is; and how even the small characters get an interesting background. All of the subplots and subtle details that added richness and depth to the story are gone.
It was summed up perfectly in Mad Magazine's parody of the fourth movie: "Welcome to another thrill-packed semester here at Halfwits!" says Dumbledore. "Together, we shall accomplish the impossible! Namely, take a 734-page book and somehow cram it into a 130-minute movie! So if you're into those annoying chapters with the "civil rights movement for elves", take your geeky nerd diatribes to the Internet! That subplot is OUT of here!"
6.) If you met Steve Kloves (the script writer) on the street, what would you do/say to him? Eh, I wouldn't take it out on him. It's not *totally* his fault.

Unfortunately, all of the scenes and chapters have been claimed, but you can still read the sporking of the GoF movie. It will be side-splitting, I promise.

The other movies will probably be done once GoF is finished.
Have fun. :)

[04 Apr 2006|12:17pm] |
Hey Guys! I'm so glad that their are manyh people like me that don't like the HP films particualarly much.
1.) Name: Siobhan (Sio)
2.) Age: 14 (DOB: January 22nd 1992)
3.) How long have you been a Harry Potter fan? Since around the time GOF (book) was released, my brother brought home 1-3 one day and I realy enjoyed the books.
4.) What was your overall impression of the Harry Potter films? I don't mind them to an extent but sometimes they completely spoil briliant thngs JKR does. It's to hollywood. The werewolf transfomation was awful. plus many others.
5.) What elements in the films (SS, CoS, PoA) did you dislike the most? The Characterizations of Hermione and Ron, They go from being loyal Equal side kicks to Super! Hermione and Cowardly! Ron. Also they make it seem H/Hr which is so totaly not true. R/Hr Forever! :)
6.) If you met Steve Kloves (the script writer) on the street, what would you do/say to him? By a copy of all 4 books (That he's done the screenplay) ask him to sign them, then rip them up in front of him yelling "THAT'S WHAT YOU'VE DONE TO THESE wonderful BOOKS YOU MORON!!" In another scenario I would ask him if an obssession towards a Teenage Fictional character is healthy?
Did anyone hear about this: Emma Watson (Hermione) says that she just filmed a scene for Phoenix where she blasts Ron (Rupert Grint) and "slams him against the backwall with a spell" for making a patronising, sexist comment. *groans* more Super! Hermione. and it isn't even Kloves writing the script.

3.) How long have you been a Harry Potter fan? Seven years.
4.) What was your overall impression of the Harry Potter films? ...horrible. They're just lucky they're all the way in the UK. *shakes fist*
5.) What elements in the films (SS, CoS, PoA) did you dislike the most? The acting's gotten even more horrible as more movies come. If now including GoF-- Mike Newell is first when I go on my homicidal rampage.
6.) If you met Steve Kloves (the script writer) on the street, what would you do/say to him? Equipped with a crowbar and my hitman on speed dial-- I'm good.

Name: Estelle
Age: 24
How long have you been a Harry Potter fan? I discovered the books in 2001 so that would be 5 years now. I remember walking past a bookshop during my stay in Australia and wondering why they put thoses giant posters of a boy on a broom stealing an egg from a dragon. I only realized these were props for the release of GOF once I'd actually read the books back home months later.
What was your overall impression of the Harry Potter films? That it could have been worse but not by much. Of course I'm glad we didn't get punk kids with an american accent taking drugs in the toilets with Moaning Myrtle but these movies had so much potential that I'm angry anyway. I don't care how JKR supposedly praises Steve Koves to the sky. He butchered the books plain and simple. Of course he had help doing the butchering. Gosh I can still remember Daniel R. trying to act in the first movie (and in the following ones to come to think of it) and Rupert Grint's idiotic grimaces. Hermione's too pretty and not at all Canon. Her clothes are also way too smart. As far as I'm concerned, the only good things about the HP movies are Snape and the photography of POA
What elements in the films (SS, CoS, PoA) did you dislike the most? Alright, we'll do this movie by movie.
SS-->the awful acting. The uninspired script and Hagrid.
CS-->the fact that they stayed too close to the book while taking out all the things that made it special in the first place. Dobby. The cheesy ending--all the school cheering for Hagrid? Come on! a bit hard to swallow don't you think?
POA-->Lupin's moustache. Gosh how horrible. The anorexic-looking werewolf--seriously, where did that thing came from? The total lack of backstory about the Marauders. Girl Power!Hermione with highlights in her hair and sexy jeans. The fact that they assumed everyone had read the book.
GOF-->the special effects orgy. Gosh, they took all the great little things from the book. I can't remember Krum saying a full sentence--I'm not even sure he said a single word actually. I'd have fallen asleep during each of the tasks if the awful music hadn't given me a headache. Definitely my least favourite HP film
If you met Steve Kloves (the script writer) on the street, what would you do/say to him?
Heck I'd probably be on my way to a job interview/meet some friends/catch a movie. I'd certainly not waste my time telling him what I think of his scripts.

[06 Mar 2006|02:00pm] |
1.) Name: Gwen
2.) Age: 20
3.) How long have you been a Harry Potter fan? I think I read PS in 2000. I had a break for a while, and then read books 2 - 4 in a marathon. I'm now consistantly into the fandom.
4.) What was your overall impression of the Harry Potter films? My overall impression was one of shoddy workmanship and design. There are elements I like (such as the uniforms), but there are too many niggles for me to watch them comfortably. I find that the acting is fairly poor compared to the special effects and its fairly glaring.
5.) What elements in the films (SS, CoS, PoA) did you dislike the most? The portrayal of Hermione is completely off. Hermione is my favourite character in the series. I love her as she is: loud, bossy, neurotic, tough, independant and not especially pretty, but harbouring a certain charm. I do think that Emma Watson is a good actress (certainly better than Daniel Radcliffe XP), but she is not Hermione, and I hate how her pretty, girly, blonde image has been adapted by 'fans' as Hermione.
As I mentioned, the niggles. Harry's eyes are one of the most annoying: his eyes are a trait from his mother, and convey an identity. They are also symbolic in the context of the story (Tom's a Slytherin with red eyes, Harry a Gryffindor with green eyes...). That and other key symbolisms, certain scenes and character roles that were crucial to the story have been omitted, to the detriment of the stories.
I think if you're going to make a movie, you play it by the book. Oh, and the Hr/H shipping annoys me too.
6.) If you met Steve Kloves (the script writer) on the street, what would you do/say to him? Regard him with a degree of contempt, and remind him that if he liked Hermione so much, he wouldn't turn her into a pink toilet doily attached to Harry's hip.

1.) Name: Amanda
2.) Age: 20
3.) How long have you been a Harry Potter fan? I read PS when I was 14, so 6 years now and still going strong :)
4.) What was your overall impression of the Harry Potter films? I remember watching the first movie and going WTF????? very loudly inside the theater as five minutes into the movie Hagrid turns to Harry and goes: "You're a wizard, Harry". That line just came completely out of the blue and really pissed me off. When I left the theater I started counting all the ways I could kill Christopher Columbus.
Yeah, so I really really hated PS. CS was somewhat better. Can't stand thinking of PoA. GoF is by far my favorite. It's the a wonderful movie, but it's better than the other and Dan is just Harry in every scene. He's improved so much since PS. But I really didn't like that uplifting end. It has absolutely nothing to do with the book, I remember feeling like shit not so great when I finished that last chapter.
5.) What elements in the films (SS, CoS, PoA, GoF) did you dislike the most? Gah, not counting the things that are cut off (because that's just too much stuff), what I hate the most are changes like Scared!Ron, Squeaky-voice!Ron, Super!Hermione, way-too-old Sirius and Remus, Ginny not crying when she wakes up in the Chamber, Ron not standing up for Harry and Hermione, Sirius's screen time in GoF.... I actually can't remember much now because even though I have the DVDs, I don't watch it all that much because I just get frustrated.
6.) If you met Steve Kloves (the script writer) on the street, what would you do/say to him? I think I'd probably start laughing, because I'd remember this. And ask him why the hell he's so infatuated with Hermione.
