An offer of rooms at the Doubletree Pittsburgh Hotel
Anthrocon needs your input!
I've gotten a very generous offer from the Doubletree in Pittsburgh, which is just as close (and in fact a few steps closer) to the Westin than the Omni: $119 for up to 4 people, $169 for a two-room suite (king or queen bed in one room, and a living room with a fold-out bed attached to it). The trick is that it would require a one-night deposit up front (non-refundable if canceled) when the reservation is made; that would be applied to your stay when you check out. We would need to guarantee them a minimum of 20 rooms, and we need to have some idea if there's enough demand. That's where you come in! If you do not yet have a room, please let us know if you would go for this deal.
The Doubletree has a 7-11 convenience store right in the lobby (and it is really open 7-11!). They have complimentary wireless in all rooms and in all public areas, an indoor pool with saunas, and -- for those who don't like to walk -- a complimentary shuttle to the convention center that will spare you the 6-8 minute walk if you are footsore at the end of the day. If you already have made a reservation at the Doubletree, a simple phone call would be all it would take to move your reservation into Anthrocon's new block and get the less expensive rate.
So now the big question:

We thank you for helping us to make Anthrocon as accessible to our attendees as it is fun to attend!

If you do not have a room at the Westin or Omni, would you be willing to take the Doubletree up on this offer, and pay the one-night deposit (non-refundable if canceled) up front?
