Marker Work - Tutorial

Well, an attempt at a tutorial, anyway. c.c Here's how *I* lay down my colors. The subject of this piece is a flame point siamese.

Markers used: Prismacolor: wheat, cream, eggshell, buff, putty, deco orange, carmine red, henna, raspberry, mahogany red, ballet pink, salmon pink, blush pink, cold stone, mint cream, pale jade, green tea, celadon green, avocado, spearmint, clear blender.

Final Image:

Concept sketch, done in blue pencil.

Inks, done using a lightbox, which means cleaner lines and no erasing. =D Plus you can redo it and not lose your sketch if you screw up (which I actually did the first time on this piece).

First color layer: wheat. Character body.

Second color layer: cream. Character body. Begin strengthening color for markings.

Third color layer: eggshell. Character body.

Fourth color layer: buff. Character body. Continue strengthening markings.

Fifth color layer: putty. Character body & nose.

Sixth color layer: deco orange. Character body. Strengthen markings, run colorless blender over everything to smooth them out.

Seventh color layer: carmine red. Character hair base.

Eighth color layer: henna. Character hair shading.

Ninth color layer: raspberry. Character hair shading.

Tenth color layer: mahogany red. Character hair shading.

Eleventh color layer: mint cream. Drapery base color. Eyes are mint cream, cold stone, and spearmint. Additional eggshell added to body shading at this point.

Twelfth color layer: green tea. Drapery shading.

Thirteenth color layer: celadon green. Drapery shading.

Fourteenth color layer: ballet pink. Pillow shading.

Fifteenth color layer: salmon pink. Pillow shading.

Sixteenth color layer: blush pink. Pillow shading.

Seventeenth color layer: pale jade. Bedding base color. Clear blender used on pillows.

Eighteenth color layer: mint cream. Bedding shading.

Nineteenth color layer: avocado. Bedding shading.

Twentieth color layer: spearmint, pale jade. Framing box and interior of box, respectively. Extra spearmint used to deepen shadows on drapery.

Finishing touches: mint cream used to shade interior of box, two layers of it.

I was at the bookstore and it hit me that there were no How-to Books when it comes to realistic furries. At least, I dont think I have seen any.

So, anyone out there seen one? And if not, do you think it's because the book would be too big, or too complex or...what? Also, do you think that any will come out within the next few years? And what do you think the format would be like?

Allo all. If you are wondering why I haven't been on for a while, My motherboard died. Horribly.
and with much hatred towards me.

So, I have nothing.Everything is...gone. Not even my music was saved.

Heck, I'm posting this at my Uncles house, who is graciously trying to save the hard drive and all my data.

Just. Perfect.

But, on the bright side, I'm getting a new computer later today and Its a Mac (SQUEEE!)

Hopefully, my internet will work with it...

Hey, does anyone here have any tips on using a computer tablet? And if so, how do you make lines smoother using flash? (Note: there is no little toggle bar that changes the smoothness)

Yeah, the main reason I havent really did anything in the past....6 days is that I have acccurired a Wii and a copy of SSBB. I might be back in...a week. Maybe. If all goes well and and dont get Mario Kart.

I DO however promise to add more artwork whenever I get off my gaming addiction.

Just a Note here really. Fan Art of Video Game, Cartoon and Movie Charecters are allowed JUST as long as they are Furries.

Note: Furries means any anthropormorphic animal. Like Bowser. Or Falco. Or...uh...those Mole things from Earthbound....maybe? (Pokemon Count too.)

Lo everyone!
As you can see, the user pic icon is rather...lacking. So, I have decided to fill it with Anthro Cafe's very own mascot! There's only one problem though...

I have no Idea what they look like.

So, I am taking suggestions in order to truly capture the very anthro-y essence of this community!

If you have an idea, type what species it is, what it's fur color is, any accessories, etc. Ill take em' all and draw them the best I can for deliberation.

(Note: Mascot will be holding cup of coffee, and you CAN critique the pictures so they can look polished and spiffy and such.)

There are only a One thing I wish to bring up in todays update, but it is quite important.

Ok, I have relized that my original set of rules did not quite clarify exsactly what was and was not allowed, most of which what constitues as yiff or not. So, I am retyping them in order to make them understandable.

1. Yiff is not allowed in this community

THINGS THAT ARE NOT YIFF
Naked Anthros - Lets face it. Unless their forced to, animals don't normally wear clothes.
Anthros wearing provocitive clothing - Hey, its still allowed. Racy and risque, but allowed.
Anthros kissing/ Making out - Nope, nothing wrong with that.
Anthros kissing/ Making out WITHOUT Clothes - Just keep it above the waist and we'll be fine.

THINGS THAT ARE YIFF
Naked Anthros in provoctive situations/ poses - Such as any kissing with groping, any lude acts, ect.
Anthros in bondage outfits - NO.
Anthros having sexual intercourse - Dont even THINK about it T_T

2. Comissions are now allowed.

Reason? Lack of activity.

3. Comments must be in a way that frankly tells the artist what they can improve in a NON-HURTFUL way.

This stems from the fact that I have been told, rather harshly, that my drawing suck. By my (so-called) friends.* And with NO way to tell how they can look better.

(*Ok, one who actully said it sucked. But he's usally a complete Jerk no matter what the situation)

4. A List of Things that are concidered art
a. ANY drawing with antrhos in it - It dosent matter if they are realistic, cartoony, abstract, WHATEVER. They are allowed with this webpage.
b. Any Stories that are based around a cast of Antrhos - Hey, if a book can be called a peice of art...
c. Any Photos of people in Fursuits - Well...the head DOES have to be constrcted...which makes it a sculpture...which makes it art....yeah.
d. Any Flash movies involving furries

5. If you EVER say you can do better, PROVE IT.

I belive thats self-explanitory

6. If your friend is an anthro artist and you wish to put their artwork here, please ask them first AND give them credit.

7. If said work of art is NSFW, please put a warning next to it.

Howdy all, My name's Mercae Killar or Stacy, which ever. I have been drawing anthro art for a while now, abouut 6 years. I really sucked when I began but I like to think I'm getting better.
I will not get offended by critiques, and I will gladly give some as well.
I am attending The Art institute of Pittsburgh Online division, going for my Bachleors in Media arts and animation. Only my first year.
