My name is Portia St. Luke, and I'm an illustrator who has really enjoyed discovering the "furry scene" this past Anthrocon. While Anthrocon was my first fur-con, I was blown away by how loving and joyful it was, and I'll definitely be back next year.

I also hate posting introductions. Really, how are you supposed to get to know an artist off of a written paragraph? Normally, I really do much better by just sharing artwork... '

...aaaaaaaaaaaaaand This is a furry list, soooooo...

Some of the artwork (both published and unpublished) that was created for AC 2008:

"Ice Bear" (Printed in the Dining guide, and exhibited in the art show.)

Original design for the cover.
Well, an attempt at a tutorial, anyway. c.c Here's how *I* lay down my colors. The subject of this piece is a flame point siamese.

Markers used: Prismacolor: wheat, cream, eggshell, buff, putty, deco orange, carmine red, henna, raspberry, mahogany red, ballet pink, salmon pink, blush pink, cold stone, mint cream, pale jade, green tea, celadon green, avocado, spearmint, clear blender.

Final Image:

Concept sketch, done in blue pencil.

Inks, done using a lightbox, which means cleaner lines and no erasing. =D Plus you can redo it and not lose your sketch if you screw up (which I actually did the first time on this piece).

First color layer: wheat. Character body.

Fourth color layer: buff. Character body.
Heya people! :)

Here's a tutorial/step-by-step thingie Goldenwolfen uploaded recently, showing how she does the colored pencil/watercolor thing:
http://goldenwolf.deviantart.com/art/Tutorial-Page-1-87627643
http://goldenwolf.deviantart.com/art/Tutorial-page-2-87627770
http://goldenwolf.deviantart.com/art/Tutorial-Page-3-87627831

Another link I've forgotten to post earlier, Tascha's tutorials: http://www.tascha.ch/index.php/Tutorial/Tutorials.html
These are great, but they might not be for the very beginner.

Realistic wolves: http://yellow-eyes.deviantart.com/art/Drawing-realistic-wolves-57510034

Scribbly and Ink Tutorial: http://ursulav.deviantart.com/art/Scribbly-and-Ink-Tutorial-33116403

Two Photoshop tutorials. Neither of these show the tecnique I find best and use when I color, but they can be fun to play with, and everybody should experiment until they find what suits them best. :)
http://b1nd1.deviantart.com/art/Just-a-big-Photoshop-Tutorial-25463898
http://shoomlah.deviantart.com/art/Colour-Dynamics-Tutorial-26840573

On another note, I've made a concept sketch of the community's mascot (my suggestion, nothing's decided yet of course). I'd love to scan it in, clean it up, throw some colors on it and show you guys, but there's a litte problem; I currently have no Photoshop, so I can't. Thankfully the computer guy will be back in a few days and fix that, so not to worry. ;P It's a raccoon, btw. The mascot.

ETA: We need a tutorial tag. Tried to add it, but it didn't work. D:
