Tokyo part 1 [21 Aug 2008|12:39pm]

angelachibayuy
Well I promised I'd do some sort of post about Tokyo.  But so much happened in Tokyo that it won't be written inorder and I can't guarantee I'll write all of it.

But I'll start from the end.  In fact why don't I do this post as a sort of "Things I learned while in Tokyo" post.

1. Karaoke can be fucking expensive.
It might've been the company, and definitely was because it was Saturday evening, but an hour and a half of karaoke cost us 2 people 5600Y.  I had a great time but never before have I paid over $20 for such a short time singing my heart out.  And I think I scared my friend Dai with how 'ayashii' or risquee of songs I know in Japanese, including one by GAM respectively titled "...H"

2. Even Foreigners may be molested on trains
Yes that's right, the thing that I said "I'd actually be pretty amused if it happened",,, happened.  And then two days later my friends like "Yeah there are a lot of perverts on this line".  And I'm just like... duh.  Like at first when he bumped into me from behind I'm just thinking oh that can't be on purpose.  But then when it was repeated I just moved to another part of the train car.  I know I should've said something and called the conductor but honestly that in itself seems more trouble and embarrassment than the actual action itself.  And plus I was so shocked and confused because most of the time as a foreigner you have no threat of being molested that I was kinda just in the "huh?" stage.  Next time i'll make a fuss and kick the guy int he balls, even if it gets me in trouble too.

3. I can outfan the Japanese Wotas.
On Friday the 15th I went to "Morning Musume x Takarazuka Cinderella THE Musical", dragging [info]xelloss_poo along with me as i had an extra ticket since my other friend couldn't get out of work.  Since I got to the location much earlier than her, I hit up the goods line right away.  And I spent a little over 8000 yen or $80 buying a bunch of JunJun goods.  If i'd gotten her full solo set, which included more pictures and her towel it would've been 14000, but I only didn't get that as I was a little short on the money.  To tell the truth if I had the funds I probably would've gotten all of the girls goods which would have cost a bit over $1000 but I do have common sense enough to know that I can't spend that much on my loves.

The musical was wonderful.  Very professional, very everything really.  There's more about that over at my other journal [info]musingsofahun . But my true wota-ness came out during the musical review at the end when I danced and shouted it out with the best of the male wotas there, screaming the lyrics and the girls names as loud as I could.  I should've bought a penlight but didn't realize that JunJun's color was indeed blue or could've easily got some.

.... well gotta go to work so I'll continue this later.

I am looking to try and clear some space so I would like to try and sell some of my costumes. I worked hard on these and while I love them I just don't see the point in them sitting around collecting dust. So it's throw them away or sell them.

Just so you know my general size is 14/16 on the top 18/20 on the bottom.

I can accept PayPal, but considering they're douches and take out fees I ask that you please be willing to tack on $5 for the fees. Otherwise I can do checks or money order. My PayPal address is ammweber@indiana.edu. My actual e-mail address is masayume01@gmail.com should you need to get a hold of me for any reason.

I missed the UPS guy! :( [info]brighteyedcat sent me cookies in exchange for the chocolate and Hobnobs I mailed to her. The sticky note on my door says he'll be back again tomorrow between 10 and 2, but I'll be at work. :( I WANT COOKIES DAMMIT.

I called Melissa on my way home after having dinner w/JEW. It'd been a while since we talked, and she always complains that I never call her, so I figured it was about time. :P Of course, now we are flirting over text, because she asked if she could call me back to finish our conversation later. I said sure, but to call me back on my house phone, to which she answered with "Yes ma'am."
Me: lol
Melissa: u laugh easily :-p
K: Everyone says that!
M: ...I like it when u laugh, a person should never make a girl do the opposite.

It goes on from there, but anyway. Why did I leave this girl behind?! I am totally guilting her into coming to London for my birthday though. :)

The post-sunburn shedding has begun. I feel like a leper, hahaha.

Man, this has been a total nothing post. What a waste. lol! However, my baby cousin has finally joined LJ. :) Everyone go say hello to [info]nancy_dickins! My incredibly hilarious cousin, Joy, also has an LJ ([info]chasethat) but she unfortunately does not update that often. Which is a pity because she has a damn good sense of humour. But she's planning on possibly coming to visit me next summer, which will be awesome if she does!

I got all my fabric today. I'm so excited to start on Sasami's magical girlness and also May from Pokemon. I ordered my wig for May last night. It took me forever to find the right shade of brown. @_@

OKAY...

For my birthday:

Beach party
(sunburn awaits!)

or

Sewing party
(This will push you all to be motivated :O and if anyone is really kind to me and would like to host it at their house, I would be glad to help with finances or whatever it takes. I just don't want to do it at my house because it's not yet cleaned and sanitary. :v)

Here is my schedule for this upcoming semester.

MATH 300 T/Th 10:30a - 11:45
COMP 420 T/Th 12:00 - 1:15
COMP 262 T/Th 3:00 - 4:15
COMP 447 -- online --

Hopefully this semester will be very good, I am inching closer and closer to being done with school.

---

Also I already applied to one guild and left because they wiped three times on THE FIRST BOSS OF BLACK TEMPLE, healers were awful, I was destroying their melee DPS, their rogues were using fist weapons (lol!). But I finally got a response from another guild today and did Teron with them, hoping I hit 1900+ DPS, had drums up like 90% of the time so I may have. My goal is 2000 DPS (the benchmark for http://www.wowwiki.com/Brutallus.

So if this doesn't work out, I will probably play alts for till Wrath, or PvP.

John & Kelly's Wedding Weekend [20 Aug 2008|09:41pm]

aznaphrodite
[ mood | happy ]

John & Kelly's big wedding weekend was this past weekend. Some of you may have met them at my wedding. John was one of Chris' groomsman (the white one LOL) and Kelly was his girlfriend back then. Anyway, Kelly is originally from Hawaii and all her family are still there so they had a small private wedding in Hawaii with only her family and Hawaiian friends on 8/8/08. They decided to have a wedding reception with John's family and their mainland friends in Dallas since John's family is in Fort Worth. Lucky us! We were their only friends that didn't have to travel far!

Anyway, it started out for us on Thursday afternoon. Brian Fields flew in that day and stayed at our house on Thursday night. He was a pretty quiet house guest. I had to work on Thursday and Friday (at home) and he slept most of Thursday since he was tired from his flight. For dinner, we took him to Spring Creek Barbeque. He and Chris stayed up late watching the Olympics. On Friday, Chris came back around 1:30 pm from work. We had lunch at Luigi's Pizza. Fields and Chris went to watch "The Dark Knight" while I worked. They got back around 6:30 pm and we had dinner at Sonic's before heading out to Dallas for the rest of the weekend.

The Hotel Palomar Dallas was the official wedding hotel and all the guests were staying there. The hotel was really nice! It was decorated in a contemporary art deco style. Our room was huge and had wrap-around floor-to-ceiling windows. We were in room 818 and I didn't realize it until she told me but she tried to get all of us on the 8th floor to keep in the 8/8/08 theme!

Our room at Hotel Palomar Dallas

After we all checked in, we met up in the lobby with Kelly, John, Fields, Nishant, Daryl, Ann, and Steve. Fields booked us a table at the Brut Champagne Boutique so went over there and had some bubbly. After having some yummy French Champagne, we hung out at Central 214, the hotel's lounge, having drinks and munchies until 2 am. OMG. 2 am. I rarely ever stay up that late.

On Saturday, we didn't wake up until 1 pm!! I don't think I've slept that late since college. It must have been the combination of working on Friday + drinking + staying up until 2 am. OMG. We had lunch at Cafe Express, across the street from the hotel, where we ran into Daryl and Ann. After lunch, we met up with everyone at the pool. In our rooms were these zebra-print robes so I wore one down to the pool. Everyone thought it was hilarious! There were some nice cabanas to lounge in but I spent most of the time in the jacuzzi and some time in the pool, which was cold! The weather was perfect though. It had been over 100 degrees the week before and there were threats of rain but the weather was so nice!! We hung out by the pool until 4 pm and then everyone headed back to their rooms to get ready for the reception which started at 5 pm.

The reception was held at Trader Vic's, which is a Polynesian themed restaurant. Since Kelly & John's wedding was in Hawaii, the tropical restaurant was very fitting! Unfortunately, as only 1 of 2 married couples that are John's friends, we were put at the "old folks" table, instead of with Chris and John's other friends. LOL! The other married couple was Alvin and Jenni, who we went to college with, and the "old folks" were John & Kelly's elderly neighbors from Oklahoma and their daughter and her husband (who were probably in their late 40's). The food was fabulous but I already knew that since we went to the Food Tasting. Chris gave a toast to the bride and groom. He's known John since kindergarten, which beat out everyone except for John's family!

Chris' friends are known drinkers and he partook in a Scorpion Bowl with them. Not to be outdone, I joined in a round of Patron Silver shots (my first shot, excluding jello shots!) and also went at with Steve and Nishant on a big bowl of Mai Tai.

Of course, that wasn't enough drinking. After the reception, we all got back into our swimsuits and hung out at the pool where they promptly ordered a bucket of beers. We hung out in the jacuzzi until the pool closed at 10:30 pm and then finished off the night by hanging out at Central 214 again. I've never drunk so much in my life until this night. But I know my limits and I barely felt tipsy for 1/2 an hour after having a gimlet at Central 214. Perhaps building up my tolerance slowly with a drink here and there during dinner has been helping!!

The favor: Inside is a cute ornament filled with sand from the Hawaiian beach they were married on

Everyone had to catch their flights home on Sunday morning. Only we, John, and Kelly were left. After sleeping in and a late checkout at 1 pm, we had lunch at Central 214, which turns out to be a good restaurant as well as a lounge! After lunch, we took John and Kelly to Sprinkles where we bought 1/2 a dozen of yummy cupcakes! I <3 Sprinkles! John & Kelly headed off to John's parents' house in Fort Worth and we headed home.

The best part of the whole weekend was hanging out with all of Chris' friends. Most of them have known each other since high school and some of them since grade school. I really wish I had friends like that. My family moved around so much that it was impossible for me to keep in touch with people since grade school and I hung out with several groups throughout high school and we're just not as tight as these guys. It's awesome to his friendships with them. They're also hilarious!! Hanging out with them is always a blast! Since they're a bit spreadout now, weddings are a mini-reunion. Fun times!

I'm really happy for John and Kelly too! They are a really cute couple! I've known John since college as well. He was Chris' roommate in our old apartment before I moved in. He was practically my roommate since I was there so much!! It's great to see that he found such an awesome girl. Kelly is fantastic!!

We might be going to visit John and Kelly in Oklahoma on Labor Day weekend. We'll see. I've never been to OK so I'm semi-excited! "Semi" excited because Kelly told me not to get excited cause there is nothing to do there. LOL! We were originally planning to go to AnimeFEST for a day but I think I'm conned out. >.<

My birthday is on the 23rd! I'll be 22 and I am looking forward to it. New age, new starts. Gotta get rid of baggage (like people who are jerks) and gotta get myself a better job that will be a bit more flexable with hours. I LOVE my job, I just hate the fact that I can't go to school with it because they'll put me on oncall if I don't work =\.

Going to this place called Takumi in Little Tokyo. Here is a list (mainly for me) so I don't forget who I invited:

+Sergio
+Melissa
+Kate
+Miguel
+Tim
+Danielle
+Martin
+John
+Naida (bringing Joyce?)
+Sisco (And his fiance??)
+Mike (And his GF)
+Me!

That's 15 people .____.;;;;; I don't know if this place can hold that many people. I do hope some of them come anyways. Especially Tim because he's the beardbr---oh wait, he's not on my LJ anymore :(

Apparently, for my WoW friends, I am Ashley-ramas. A 40 man raid to boot. Hmm. Yes, at work I talk about WoW in emails with my friend. This is what he said to me today:

As for you, you're a dirty blood elf so I'm NOT so proud of you. I would have at least been proud if you had been an undead or something like that. But TWO blood elves, bleh, that's so noobish!

XD I love work emails.

Hmm....time to go back to work!

I have, um, acquired all of Radiohead's albums and I have to say I don't get what the big deal is.

OK Computer is a masterpiece of epic proportions for sure, and definitely one of my favorite albums, but their other albums are kind of boring.

Now I'm making American chop suey and it's (hopefully) going to be amazing... we shall see.

A Tale of Memories [20 Aug 2008|02:20pm]

rental_daughter
[ mood | bored ]
[ music | Lexy - Ma People ]

Posting this out of boredom....
It's from Ef - A Tale of Memories -nods-

The girl is the only one in the world.
That made her the god of this world.
She found herself on an island when she began to understand things around her.
The island was small, and one could go around it in half a day by foot.
All she could see at the beach was the ocean, the sky, clouds and the horizon stretching as far as she could see in a 360-degree view.
There was a mansion on the island.
There were a huge amount of preserved foods and daily necessities inside the warehouse of the castle, so she did not starve.
There were tons of books which she couldn't finish reading, even if she spent her whole life.
They contained everything in this world.
The stories written in the books were all about people.
People cannot live alone.
There were many books with that written in them.
However, the girl was alone.
She lived by herself.
Laughing, crying, things that were previously of value, none of them were needed.
They were finished. They were completed.
The girl was the first 'average' person in human history.
The average of the statistics is exactly the same as the sum of herself.
That's why everything she does is correct.
At the same time, everything could be wrong.

The girl began to paint.
Books, musical instruments, pictures.
Among those things, it was the tool that's most likely to create a human.
But it didn't go well.
She got tired of it many times.
It didn't matter anyway, even if she got tired of it.
When the season changed, she had enough.
She finished the painting before long.
She found out that she was more suited for drawing realistic scenes.
As long as she was able to draw something that looked like it, it was fine.
Something that didn't exist there.
Drawing humans might be something hard to do.
That's what she thought.

The girl is the only one in the world.
That made her the God of this world.
She found herself on an island when she began to understand things around her.
There was nobody else around.
She had nothing to do.
That was the everything the world offered.

One day, the girl tried to light a fire on the beach.
Because there was an episode in a book about a person who lit a signal fire after being stranded on an island.
A white line rose up to the deep, blue sky.
She thought, "What is this thing that's just like a cloud?" and she put her face near it.
Her eyes and throat hurt badly.
She backed off in confusion and gazed at it from a distance.
She understood that it was useless.
Likewise, she began to understand one thing after another.
She understood what 'understanding' meant.

She painted a human being.
She painted a boy.
So, she decided to add a figure of a boy into paintings of landscapes she had painted.
She put up those paintings in the same places where she painted them.
There was not a single place on the island she did not paint.
The girl was with the boy everywhere.
It meant that the girl and the boy looked at each other every time she looked at the paintings.
But the girl had no feeling of achievement.
"Would it be a 'human'?" she thought.
No. This was the 'painting of a human being.'
He did not move. He did not think. He was simply there.
Lonely?
Finally, she could ask herself by finding the word.
She was not lonely.

The girl began to look at the painting a lot.
When she stared at the boy in the painting, she had a strange feeling.
'Let's marry.' She somehow had that idea.
In the books, there were an unusual number of stories relating to marriage.
It was described as something important in people's lives.
She began to study the marriage system in detail.

The girl married on the next day.
She found a dress in the castle.
She pretended to ask herself, 'Do you vow to marry?' in her mind, and she pretended to answer 'Yes.'
And then she kissed the boy in the painting.
It tasted like oil.
She threw the flowers that she picked as a bouquet.
She prepared a bigger meal than usual.
It was a party after all.
But she had leftovers, because the dress was too tight around the hips.
The girl tossed the bouquet, the dress, and the leftovers to the bottom of the dump site and went to sleep.
And thus the wedding ceremony was over.

The girl started drawing self-portraits the day after the wedding ceremony.
Even though she was married, there was no one except her in her world.
That's why she put herself into the paintings.
The girl put herself into all the paintings.
In the world beyond, the two of them were laughing together.
Looking at herself in the paintings, she felt strange.
The girl couldn't really understand this feeling.
Nevertheless, it continued to attract the girl's interest.
The girl is only one in the world.
That made her the God of this world.

The girl is only one in the world.
That made her the God of this world.

The girl is the only one in the world.
That made her the God of this world.
Something mysterious happened.
The two in those paintings had moved.
The god looked inside the paintings.
The two in the pictures seemed to be having fun, smiling at each other.
But the paintings were blurred.
The world itself appeared blurred.
Why, the girl thought.
A strange feeling developed in her mind.
She could not describe what it was.
She wondered why the paintings became blurred, even though she painted them so clearly.
The two in the paintings were smiling at each other.
That was what she felt.
She repainted them.
She repainted them over and over.
But the results were exactly the same.
She was at a loss.
She began to be unsure of everything.
The girl is the only one in the world.
That made her the god of this world.
So she thought she should make her world much cleaner.
She burned all pictures.
She set fire to the mansion and the old castle.
Along with the structures, she burned all her memories.
Lastly, the God threw the trash, the only trash left in the world, out from the cliff.

For the girl, it's the happiest ending.
The girl shouldn't have contact with other people after all.
Because she has found out what loneliness is.

That girl is us.
