CHICAGO COMIC-CON DEBUTS ANIME CENTRAL’S ACEN AFTERSHOCK!

With the flash-bulbs and excitement barely fading from the 12th annual Anime Central show this past spring, Chicago Comic-Con will be the only place to experience the first ever Anime Central Aftershock!

Chicago Comic-Con Producer Gareb Shamus announces, “I am thrilled to be working with our friends in the Anime community for the first time at our event. I couldn’t pass up this opportunity to bring even more excitement to all our fans in Chicago.”

Anime Central (ACen) is the annual convention of the Midwest Animetion Promotion Society, Chicago's largest anime, manga and Japanese popular culture convention. Chicago Comic-Con runs from August 6-9, 2009 at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center. It is a national pop culture convention, connecting attendees with celebrity guests, artists, writers and other industry professionals.

ACen Aftershock! offers a taste of anime and manga fandom with exhibitors, artists, anime showings, panel events, cosplay, contests, and a host of other exciting events normally found only at the yearly Anime Central show. This is the first time ever that ACen has offered programming to fans outside of their annual event. Attendees are encouraged to show up in anime costume.

Tickets start at $25 and are on sale now at www.wizardworld.com and 877-402-3748.

“We’re excited to be working with Chicago Comic-Con on this venture," said Rosa Halcomb, the chair for Anime Central 2009 and 2010. "This is an amazing opportunity for fans to get a taste of Chicago Comic-Con and Anime Central at the same time. It’s going to be so much fun!"

The Midwest Animation Promotion Society will present the premiere ACenAftershock! at Chicago Comic-Con August 6-9 with programming at both the Hyatt Regency O’Hare and Donald E. Stephens Convention Center.

SoyCon 2
June 20-21, 2009

Day 0 - Friday June 19, 2009 at 10:00am - Beach Location (TBA)
Day 1 - Saturday June 20, 2009 at 9:00am - The Photoshoot in Chicago, IL
Day 2 - Sunday June 21, 2009 at 10:00am - The Picnic in Schaumburg, IL

SoyCon is the premiere outdoor convention/gathering/photoshoot of the midwestern United States. SoyCon demonstrates the respresentation of cosplayers and fans uniting to celebrate the fandom that exists within anime, videogames, manga, and more. It shows the freedom of speech of showing for who we are and what we love to do. It brings together people from many different areas to see their old friends and meet new ones. Even though it lacks in major factors such as a convention center, hotel, and dealers room, it can still provide the fulfillment of fun, photo opportunities, and meeting alot of people. SoyCon will hopefully someday become an official convention, but for now, it will start from the basics. Soy Sauce's vision is to create a conference that's innovative and different with also keeping the fans' interest from old to new. And what do you have to pay to experience this wonderful weekend? NOTHING!!! IT'S FREE!!!

28th-Jan-2009 06:31 pm - Member activity policy.
http://kisekinohana.net/JAPC/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=375

In light of the difficulties we've experiences with the most recent member clean up, I am instituting a new policy from this point forward. This policy is being instituted to keep the group members active, and prevent me having to do this mass cleanup twice a year.

I want every member to bookmark this topic, and subscribe to it. This way you will be informed of when it is updated, and when the cleanups will take place. I'm really sorry I have to use such an extreme measure, but this is designed to make it easier to maintain the forum(for the mods sanity), so we need to make the following changes.

Every three months(March-June-September-December or January), I will deactivate accounts for the following reasons listed below (Note: you will also be removed from the Yahoo and Google groups).

1. If your account has zero (0) posts.

2. If your account shows no activity during that three month period.

I feel that if you are a member of a group such as this, you should not only be logging into the forum regularly, but contributing to the group in some way. Please remember that the purpose of this group is to meet others and participate in conversations to share your love of anime and manga.

If you have any questions about this, please feel free to post them.
