Community Info

NOTE (3.18.2004): There was a web site and memories section devoted to the community, but as life has pummeled me non-stop with outside issues, crises, and other distracting stuff, I'm now too preoccupied to keep up with them. Because of this, the web site's down until further notice and the memories section is currently static. Gomen!



This community was created 07.14.2002 by snowkitsune. The goal for this community is not only to simply share art with one another, but also to share tips, techniques, criticism, and whatever else that may be helpful to fellow artists.



Pretty much anything can be posted... drawings, CGs, AIM/LJ/desktop icons, wallpapers, LJ styles... even things like t-shirts or sculptures or something else out of the ordinary... as long as you made it and it's anime/manga/game-related. *^^*



UPDATE! (4.4.2004): Traced images are NOT permitted. Tracing is seen as a form of stealing, because you are merely reproducing the work of another person with no effort on your own part. The purpose of this community is to further one's artistic abilities and/or to share YOUR art, not someone else's.

POSTING IMAGES


~ Tasteful nudity and implied violence allowed (with lj-cut and a warning).

~ Sexually explicit and graphically violent (blood and gore) pics are not allowed.

~ Use lj-cut for large pics or lots of small pics.


REQUESTS/COMMISIONS/ART TRADES


~ If you post a request, please go ahead and give the details of what you want done. That way people can tell right away if they'd be able to do it or not.

~ Please do not join just to ask for someone to draw something for you. Only join if you feel that you could contribute to the community in some way. (The only reason I ask this is so the community isn't completely innundated with "can someone draw this for me?" posts. ^^;)


ADVERTISING


~ I'll allow it, as long as they are related to art and/or anime/manga.

~ Please limit your ad posts to once a month.

~ If you have more than one thing to advertise (say an LJ community and a web site) please try to put them in the same post.

~ If your site moves or you get a new one and already did your ad post, you can post a revised one as long as it's at least a week or more after the last... I really don't want ad posts to take up the entire journal. ^^;;

~ Do not keep moving your site so you can keep advertising it! Xx; Can we say banned? But I trust no one would be that desperate. ^^;


MISCELLANEOUS


~ DO NOT STEAL. This will get you banned immediately upon discovery. Nothing will get you a bad rep faster than stealing someone else's creation. Ask before taking. If the artist says no, then just don't.

~ On that note, if you're posting a collaboration, give equal credit to the other artist. "Amy did the inking and I did the coloring." Something like that - it's only fair.

~ Game art (Final Fantasy, Grandia, .hack, whatever) is also allowed.

~ Traced images are not allowed - no matter if it's from official art or another's fanart.

~ All posts are related to anime and art. Do NOT join and post something like "Will someone make an icon for me of Legolas from LOTR??" While there just might be LOTR fans here, this is not the place to ask. Unless you have an anime-style pic of Legolas you want on it. :P Same goes for posting... only anime/game related art, please. Thanku. *^^*

~ Tutorials, tips and tricks are welcomed, too. If you have one of your own (or found a good one on the web) feel free to post it.

~ Links to online art stores or other resources are fine, too.

~ Finally... I should not have to say this, but be polite. If you don't like a piece, tactfully point out what might be done to improve it. If I see any "what the heck is that!?" or "j00 sux0r"... j00 4r3 g0n3.

~ ^^; That reminds me... I don't want any sentences like "|-|3y! j00r 4r7 15 5\/\/337! 3y3 r3411y 1yk3 j00r 5tyl3!" or "can sum1 plz make me a icon sumtyme soon plz make it with inu yasha i want borderz and those blinky lettrz because i cant make blinky lettrz can you plz comment or email and tell me if you can thx a bunch" Oo;; L33t speak is fine in moderation... like occasional words. But please use punctuation. It's not much to ask.



A little long-winded, yes - I typically am XD - but it's mostly little common sense. I'm pretty leniant when it comes to most things, too.
