Beck: Mongolian Chopsquad will be on MuchMusic this friday and saturday!

I'm not crazy. Their commercials for March Break programming showed two seconds on the opening of Beck, and Zannen, Canada updated that it will be showing two episodes friday night (repeating all next week), and then like 5 episodes (either this saturday or next). It's awesome. We'll be the first station in North America to see the dub! I love Canada and MuchMusic! We actually kick ass compared to the U.S. for anime for once. Hazzah! Everybody better tune in to promote more anime on Canadian television!

Ja ne

J-pop Dance!

It is finalized!

On Friday February 23rd, Haru-hime will host: a J-pop Dance!!

It will take place at the Coastal Inn Champlain (across from Crystal Palace) from 8pm-11pm. That's three hours of awesome anime/j-pop music to dance the night away. Dress up if you want, and bring some glow sticks for fun.

Tickets will be $8.00/each. And I have a table at Animaritime on Friday from 3-5pm to sell tickets. It will be located near the registration tables. Unfortunately, I only have 65 tickets available because of limited space in the room, so I suggest people come early to make sure they can get one.

It took a long time but I finally got this event up and running. I hope it's a success, and who knows, maybe there will be one at next year's convention.

- Haru-hime (aka haruka_san....haru-hime is my new alias) ^_^

Dance Update 3

New Info

A convention manager at Crystal Palace told me this: "the hotel is across the street from here. It would be 5 minutes to walk. It's like walking for about 6 houses from your house. Trust me they walk in the parking lot and cross the street with the light and they are right there. The thing is that crystal palace is so huge and our land is so huge. We have a parking lot and a mall in our land. Trust me on this. If you can walk from the crystal palace to the mall here it's the same to go to Coastal Inn."

What do you think about the dance now?

Hotel!

Just so you know, there IS still room in the Animaritime room block. The rest of the hotel is full. You have to ask to be in the Animaritime room block. Being in this block gives you a slightly better rate as well as access to some events for hotel guests only, such as a pool party, extra DDR time, and a lazar tag event.

If you are unsure of your placement, we reccomend that you call to confirm. They shouldn't have any problems moving you if you need to be moved.

The problem is this: Animaritime has rooms reserved, and so the hotel can't put anyone in them except for those who specify that they are going for Animaritime. Right now, the hotel has booked all of its rooms in the hotel that weekend, but there are still rooms in our block that can be filled. So please, if you're not part of the Animaritime block, go back and get it straightened out, because it's keeping other people from getting non-convention related rooms.

Thanks everyone, we'll see you at the convention!

Anime Dance help: Part 2

There is a Post and Poll on the Animaritime forums to help get an approximate idea of how many would attend this dance at the Coastal Inn or not. This, with your comments, will help me make a decision!

http://animaritime.mtaanime.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1226

P.S - remember that this is not run by Animaritime; I will be putting this on all by myself. To help me decide if I should do it at all, I need to see if people will attend.

Anime Dance Possibilities

I am seriously considering hosting a dance during Animaritime at the coastal inn (not too far from Crystal Palace). Because of space, time, etc. problems, I cannot have it at the ramada.

Therefore, if I sold tickets for like a 3 hour anime/japanese dance, would you guys mind having to go like 5 minutes away by cab to attend! I can only sell like 55-65 tickets as well b/c of space limits...but it would be great. I'm renting equipment and everything.

I think you would all enjoy it, but I do not want to pursue it too far if many of you will not leave the hotel (either friday or saturday evening) to attend.

Tickets would probably be around $10/each (that is not inflated...I would just be breaking even).

Is this hotel really that far? Are many of you have access to car (or friend with a car) to go?

Tell me what you think.

Update: Remember that if four people split a cab it is not that much. And it would be a fun night.

As the title states the convention is just around the corner and I hope all who haunt this group has pre-registered. We have a new great venue at Ramada Plaza in Moncton New Brunswick and I hope to see you all there. Not native to Moncton? No worries, just book a room at the Plaza under Animaritimes name (you have to phone to book under us) and have a wonderful time with 'Hotel Guest Only' activities. For information on rates and the phone number to the Plaza please click here.
SELLING AT ANIMARITIME

Last year at Animaritime I noticed that there was an artist's alley to sell your artwork. I was really hoping to participate this year, however I would like to sew things instead of drawing, maybe some hats or bags, etc. Does anyone one know what exactly is allowed to be sold in the alley? How much a table in the alley costs? Or what the deadline for registering is and what you have to do to register?

Thanks for any help!!!

ANIME DANCE HELP!

I'm Jacqueline, and I live in Sydney Cape Breton. I need people who live in Moncton (or anywhere else going to the con that may be willing to help out with or even have connections with equipment, lighting, etc...however that is not necessary) that are willing to help me in planning an anime/j-pop/j-rock dance during Animaritime 2007. Cause I need numbers for places in town, and people willing to keep in contact with them (i.e. renting equipment). The con staff itself does not have the time or money to host it themselves (they are busy enough as it is), but with some congoers helping me, maybe we could put one on ourselves.

I will also need volunteers to help set up/tear down, sell tickets, etc.

And I think most people can afford like $5-6 for admission to help pay for costs.

Please reply here if you are interested.

Or Email me at: island_anime@hotmail.com

Animaritime Location Confirmed!

The location of Animaritime 2007 has been confirmed. It will be held at the Ramada Plaza, aka Crystal Palace in Dieppe.

More details behind the cut

Sackville, NB., Sept. 15 -- Animaritime is busting at the seams. Animaritime,
Atlantic Canada's only anime and gaming convention has announced that the 2007
convention is coming to Dieppe, NB. The change in venue is prompted by the
convention's rapidly increasing attendance. Nicole Shannon, one of the co-chairs
of the convention, estimated an attendance of 350 people, a 55% increase over
the previous year, based on the convention's current growth trend. The event
will be held on the dates of February 23-25 2007 at the Ramada Plaza, located in
Crystal Palace in Dieppe, near Moncton NB.

"The move will help us accomodate our ever-growing attendance, and give our
attendees a place to stay," said venue coordinator William Belanger. "Our guests
and attendees were having a hard time finding places to sleep at night,
sometimes they even commuted for the weekend. By holding the event in Dieppe
this year, it will be a lot easier for our attendees to handle travel and
accomodations."

Animaritime is the Maritimes' only anime and gaming convention. Animaritime 2007
will be the fourth annual event, and is expected to be the biggest yet. With the
announcement of the move to Moncton, the conventions organizers expect a much
larger increase in attendance than seen in previous years. Some of the events
planned for Animaritime 2007 are: guest pannels, video showings, gaming rooms,
RPGs, TCGs, lectures, demos, workshops, dealers room and artist's alley.

For more information about Animaritime, contact the venue coordinator, William
Belanger at 506-536-8731, or email him at wjblngr@mta.ca. For general
information about Animaritime please visit http://animaritime.mtaanime.org.

I know there are a bunch on the forums who appear to be going, but who here is planning on going to Anime North? Would it be worth planning a gathering of some sort?

edit: Or Anime Boston, which is on the same weekend.
Or any other conventions over the summer? I hit most of the Toronto ones ^_^

For those of you who have only been to Animaritime, larger conventions can be an entirely different experiance ^_^

10 days left!

There's just 10 days left to pre-register for the convention and 2 weeks to pre-register for the Cosplay Dinner! For just $12 you can have on guaranteed meal during the convention, so you won't starve when the dealers room eats your food budget ^_^

We now also have Guests and a Schedule posted.

NEW parent's room, for those of you who come attached. It'll be a place for them to relax and de-animeify during the convention if they need to, as well as some information sessions to help them understand exactly what this anime stuff is.

Cosplay Dinner!

Happy new year! We'd like to announce the opening of registration for our Cosplay Dinner! This year we will be holding a cosplay dinner, where people can come in cosplay and have a good meal, while getting to know others con goers. You are not required to come in cosplay, however we think it would be a great time if those that did interacted with the other guests as their character. The charge is $12, in order to cover the cost of the food. Unfortunately, due to time constraints and food preparation we require that you register for the dinner in the next three weeks. To join us in this fun event, please register at http://animaritime2006.mollyguard.com. We hope to see you there!

Konbanwa minna!

Hiya, my name is Jaki Lyn (actually Jacqueline). I also just found this community and wondered if anyone from Nova Scotia, or the maritimes go to Anime North!? My friends are going to Animaritime this year, but I can't make it myself. We are all from Cape Breton!!! I have gone to Anime North 3 times already and this year will be my fourth. It is so much fun, and I was so thrilled when I heard that New Brunswick was going to have a convention. The maritimes are totally not given enough credit for anime loving. And it's a shame for all the people before who could not afford going all the way to Mississauga for Anime North. I cannot wait until I can go next year.

Please tell me if anyone goes to Anime North from the Maritimes, especially from Nova Scotia, or even Cape Breton, but everywhere is really cool to know. Maybe we'll see each other in May and then next February!

Ja ne minna!

P.S. - Anyone who has gone to Anime North might know me and the dance group I am with: NanYan (we did the Pegasus Millennium dance and last year's Escaflowne Dragon Slayer's Dili Smackdown: both were part of the skit contest/friday night masquerade.). ^_^
