Copyright - The images posted have to be made by the people who made them. Subsequently, all images present are copyrighted to the people who posted them, they are not free clip-art and may not be copied or reposted without the owner's permission. For the photographers, it's advised to add a copyright notice to your photo's in case someone saves them for their personal collection.
No pet pictures - I was initially content to ask members to obey a rough guideline to keep pet pictures at a minimum, unfortunately some people have proven to me that not everyone is mature enough to handle such freedom. As of 26-7-2004 posts with obviously domesticated animals will be removed. If you want to post pictures of your pet, there's plenty of alternatives like ![[info]](http://p-stat.livejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif) creature, ![[info]](http://p-stat.livejournal.com/img/community.gif) petphotos or petpictures. This community is for wildlife photography only!
Added: To clarify, I'll be banning the photo's of both animals in "webcam range" and obviously domesticated animals, for example; A horse in tack or a horse being ridden, pets in cages, people holding pets etc.
Pictures of animals in zoo's and sanctuaries are allowed, pictures of petting zoo animals are iffy. Please remember that the animal should be the focus of the picture, try to avoid huge pictures with a tiny animal in it except as carefully planned composition. Try and avoid photo's where the camera has focussed on humans, cage bars or wire mesh or are of a poor quality (blurry, sun glare etc.).
Pictures with a dubious subject matter will be dealt with at the admin's discretion.
Make photo's friend-list friendly - Don't post any photo's larger than 400x400 pixels unless you put them behind a cut. Multiple photo's should also be put behind a cut.
Thumbnails are a good alternative or just use a textlink.
Cut requesting
People can request a cut for an image even though it meets size standards as long as they provide a reason (severe phobia) and as long as they're polite about it.
Comments - Adding comments on where you took the photo or with what and how is interesting to read. Perhaps there's a story behind the image, feel free to elaborate on the photo. Please don't write anything inflammatory or attack certain people or groups of people.
Plugging - No hit and run plugging allowed; joining for the sole purpose of plugging an (unrelated) community or site and then leaving. For normal members plugging is allowed as long as the community/site subjectmatter is related to the subjectmatter of this community; wild animals, photography, etc.
Places to put photo's - Deviant Art, Photobucket, My Pic Gallery, Pbase, Picturetrail, Flickr are sites where you can open an account and upload photo's for free as long as you heed their guidelines.
English is mandatory - Additional information about your pictures is great, but this an English-only community.
No pet-questions - There are a lot of communities out there made to answer any of your questions about just any kind of pet; birds, reptiles rodents, dogs, cats. This is not the place to ask anything about your pet or your pet's healthcare. This is a community for displaying photo's of (undomesticated) animals.
Additionally, if your pet is seriously ill or injured (external/internal bleeding, broken bones, missing limbs, severe concussions and balance problems, vomiting and the like) you shouldn't be browsing Livejournal at all, you should be at the vet's office.
If you can't afford the vet, you can't afford the pet!
