| Palermo and Catania |
[Feb. 4th, 2007|02:46 am] |
I know there have not been a lot of posts recently...but I thought this was pretty important, and well, rather sad.
Did anyone else hear about the huge riot at the Catania vs. Palermo match? It was actually very tragic...there's a story about it here....http://msn.foxsports.com/soccer/story/6437932. Apparently it was pretty bad for the players, although it doesn't mention anywhere that any of them were badly injured, thank goodness.
I didn't see it but it sounds horrible. ANDREA PLEASE TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF! May all of those who are injured recover quickly and may the police officer rest in peace. :( |

I know it's been quiet around here, so I figured I'd post some type of pretty. Here is a link to a video of Andrea discussing the scudetto:

ps- I'm having a hard time trying to stalk Barzagli... it seems as if there is no info on him anywhere! Anyone else feel the same? |

| [Serie A] Milan - Palermo 0-2: Andrea's Testimonial |
[Oct. 23rd, 2006|09:16 pm] |
Continuing my post here... still on the topic of Milan - Palermo, Andrea Barzagli gave his testimonial of the match.
Barzagli: "Abbiamo dato tutti il 100%"
22.10.2006 22.35
URL: http://www.ilpalermocalcio.it/it/0607/news_scheda.jsp?id=6062

| [Serie A] Milan - Palermo 0-2 |
[Oct. 23rd, 2006|09:10 pm] |
Serie A 2006-2007 22 October 2006
MILAN - PALERMO 0-2
Scorers: 3' Bresciano [2nd] (Palermo), 29' Amauri [2nd] (Palermo)
( Formations and mini stats. )
Hey, everyone! It's been quiet lately! ^_^ So I've decided to start posting match reports and pics again. :D
I hope everybody got to watch this match, Milan vs Palermo, because it was amazing! <3 I read Andrea and the Palermo defense got a high score this time. Average is 7, I think. And excellent job indeed because they didn't concede a single goal and really frustrated the Milan strikers. Unfortunately, Andrea was seen very little throughout the match (Cristian Zaccardo was more visible)... but he really did play well.
Good job, Palermo! ^_^ They are seriously a contender for the scudetto now. :D
Photos!!!! Palermo's official website doesn't have the pics up yet. I'll make that update later. On the meantime, here are the pics I collected from other places of Andrea... <3
( Photos behind the cut. )
That's all for now. Be back later! ^_^ |

| [Euro '08] National team call-ups |
[Oct. 2nd, 2006|10:15 am] |
3 Palermo players get the call-up to the national team and they're the same people who joined the national team the last time for the matches against Lithuania and France. They're the second most represented team in the national team right now, as well as Juventus (also 3 players).
Andrea Barzagli, Cristian Zaccardo and David Di Michele will have a chance in playing for the Azzurri against Ukraine and Georgia.
But since Nesta and Materazzi are back from their injury/disqualification, Andrea is naturally 3rd choice for central defense alongside Cannavaro. His chances of playing are very small now, especially because the records are against him (a draw against Lithuania and a loss against France) but I'm keeping my hopes up. *crosses fingers*
GOALKEEPERS Gianluigi Buffon (Juventus) Cristian Abbiati (Torino) Marco Amelia (Livorno)
DEFENDERS: Cristian Zaccardo (Palermo) Andrea Barzagli (Palermo) Fabio Cannavaro (Real Madrid) Fabio Grosso (Inter Milan) Gianluca Zambrotta (Barcelona) Alessandro Nesta (AC Milan) Massimo Oddo (Inter Milan) Marco Materazzi (Inter Milan) Manuel Pasqual (Fiorentina)
MIDFIELDERS: Mauro Camoranesi (Juventus) Andrea Pirlo (AC Milan) Gennaro Gattuso (AC Milan) Daniele De Rossi (Roma) Simone Perrotta (Roma) Stefano Mauri (Lazio) Gennaro Delvecchio (Sampdoria)
STRIKERS: Alessandro Del Piero (Juventus) David Di Michele (Palermo) Antonio Di Natale (Udinese) Vincenzo Iaquinta (Udinese) Filippo Inzaghi (AC Milan) Luca Toni (Fiorentina)

Can't wait for their next match! But the next Serie A match is two weeks away as international competitions are just around the corner. Let's hope Andrea and Cristian get called up again. |

| [Uefa Cup] Palermo - West Ham 3-0 |
[Sep. 29th, 2006|12:17 pm] |
Uefa Cup 2006-2007
PALERMO - WEST HAM 3-0
Scorers: Simplicio 35' [1st] (Palermo), Simplicio al 17' [2nd] (Palermo), Di Michele 23' [2nd] (Palermo)
( Formations and mini stats. )
Congratulations to Palermo! It seemed to be an excellent game. Agliardi, the first choice goalie, was replaced by Alberto Fontana, the second choice goalie for this match. Ironically, Fontana's sheet is clean. He did some great saves, it appeared, because Palermo didn't concede a single goal! But according to Di Michele, the defense tonight was great, so props to Andrea Barzagli, Cristian Zaccardo, Marco Pisano and Mattia Cassani.
Here's Cristian Zaccardo's post-match interview, in which he mentions what it's like to play alongside Andrea.
( Zaccardo: con Andrea mi trovo alla perfezione )

I included Andrea Barzagli, Cristian Zaccardo and Alberto Fontana's pictures. Fontana because the man deserves the spotlight! <3 There's one picture in the .zip that I named "Who" because at first glance I thought it was Andrea, but then again I could be wrong. So if anyone can be sure that it's Barzagli or someone else, please let me know. :P This time, 216 pages of pics. No biggie. By now I'm used to it. LOL. |

Well, at least the pictures don't disappoint. Lots of pictures of Andrea this time, looking hot with the captain arm band. But I'm not in the mood to do any previews so go straight to the download, OK?
I compiled the match pictures - mostly Andrea, with some Cristian (since he was only a substitute in the 2nd half, there aren't many of him) - after going through 151 pages this time. Still a lot, but at least I didn't die from exhaustion like last time. LOL. OK, enjoy. |

| [Serie A] Empoli - Palermo 2-0 |
[Sep. 24th, 2006|10:54 pm] |
Serie A 2006-2007
Empoli - Palermo 2-0
Scorers: 28' Saudati [1st] (Empoli), 9' Almiron [2nd] (Empoli)
( Formations and mini stats. )
Disastrous result for Palermo! (What is it with my favorite teams this week!) So, this is the second red card for Palermo in the week. >.< After Simplicio in the last match, now it's Guana. And again, they got more cards than the opposing team!
According to Gazzetta.it, Brienza also failed to score from a penalty. Heeeeee... wonder why!
And since Corini didn't play, I'm guessing Andrea was captain again... great. So they lost while he was captain. I'm not blaming him at all but I imagine it must be tough on him! Aieeee...
OK, photos coming later. |

Palermo Training 2006.09.23
In preparation for the upcoming match against Empoli, on Saturday morning, the team was back at the training field. Later in the afternoon, they would fly to Tuscany. I gathered the training pictures and some very gorgeous ones of Andrea. <3 I included Cristian's pics as well.
( Andrea & Cristian behind the cut. Might be too heavy for dial-up users. )
Arrival in Tuscany 2006.09.23 In fact they have arrived in Tuscany, at nearly 6 p.m. local time in Italy. Pictures are available in the official site but no shots of Andrea.
Media attention for Palermo Since they're now at the top of Serie A with 2 clear points ahead of the other clubs, the media has given them a lot of attention. Palermo players and club president were invited to speak at several national radio stations and also TV shows.
