There are no real rules other then respect others and treat them as you wish to be treated. Nobody knows everything and the point of this community is for helping - everyone needs help at some point, why not get it from others who share your views or lifestyle? There are no stupid questions, stupid people, or smart-ass answers. Asking questions shows you want to learn and we are here to help you do so.

[+] FrozenTech's LiveCD list - this is an extremely comprehensive list of live Linux CDs. A live CD is a Linux environment that runs completely off the CD, so new users can get their feet wet or the advanced user can use it for rescue or other geek needs. People new to Live CD should check out Knoppix - one of the most well known Live CDs.
[+] Custom Google searches - If you have not already added the custom google search plugins to Firefox you can visit google.com/linux, google.com/bsd, or google.com/mac to get specific searches
[+] PGP & GnuPG - Please see this post about how to setup and use both programs on any OS (Mac, Win, and Linux)
[+] Gaim plus Gaim-Encryption and/or Off-the-Record Messaging - Gaim is a multi-protocol instant messaging (IM) client for Linux, BSD, MacOS X, and Windows. It is compatible with AIM and ICQ (Oscar protocol), MSN Messenger, Yahoo!, IRC, Jabber, Gadu-Gadu, SILC, GroupWise Messenger, and Zephyr networks. Gaim-Encryption uses NSS to provide transparent RSA encryption as a Gaim plugin. Off-the-Record (OTR) Messaging allows you to have private conversations over instant messaging by providing encryption, authentication, deniability, and perfect forward secrecy. IMs are just like email, they are sent as clear text over the net and can be intercepted / read by a third party.
[+] Shell provider listing - This is a pretty large list of free shell providers. Distros include RedHat Enterprise, SUSE Enterprise server, Fedora, *BSD, HPUX, HP Tru64, Debian, OpenVMS, Mandrake, SunOS, and Slackware.
