Well it's confirmed for Chicago. :-D

http://www.billboard.com/bbcom/news/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1003786362

We can wait for single day tickets but they won't go on sale if the 3day passes sell out and we won't know until June. Thoughts?

While there is no 'Chicago', I suppose one has to wait for the 'Official' Lolla people to announce instead. So Aug 3rd still seems doable.

BUT even if there is NO Aug 3rd, I'm still up for Chicago! Just maybe the weekend before/after. :-D Or maybe...Cleveland! Yes!

Chicagocon

In the wake of recent rumors that NIN and Radiohead will be headlining the Lollopalooza Festival in Chicago the weekend of August 1-3 it seems like the optimal time to plan that little trip to the Windy City. Of course, it still may not happen, but it does seem to be the buzz.

Who would be interested in this? I'm sure the tickets would set you back a couple hundred dollars, judging from what the Pemberton festival costs. I was actually looking into that trip when I saw [info]m0reta say that she'd rather go to Chicago for this show, if it happens. Although I'd love to see the Vancouver area, Chicago would be about $1000 cheaper for us. ;) Well, maybe less depending on what gas prices do by August.

So keep that weekend earmarked and when it becomes real, we'll plan.

Mansinthe?!?

NYTimes.com had this article yesterday entitled A Liquor of Legend Makes a Comeback dealing with the new absinthes that are going to be sold in the US. A quote from the last page made me wince:

One absinthe that will try to brave the regulators next year is a spirit distilled by Markus Lion in Germany for the performer Marilyn Manson. Called Mansinthe, it is “designed to please newbies as well as long-term absinthe lovers,” Mr. Lion said in an e-mail message.

How do you justify a bad habit? Brand it!

Can't wait until the next school shooting finds an empty bottle of this in the shooter's locker. *groan*

Happy 10th Anniversary

Synchronicity part I

My sister arrives at my work today to pick up her wedding rings, which I have sized. She engages in a conversation with my boss about her job which is at Anthem. After joking about health insurance rates and turning people down, she launches into a speech about the upcoming Michael Moore film, "Sicko".

"Yeah, we all got the memo about this movie and to be ready for the backlash. Oh, and there was this blogger who had a website called moorewatch.com..."

Life can be so surreal, in so many ways.

To all my friends that I met in person 10 years ago: Truly, what a long strange trip it's been. What memories! What shared experiences! WHAT DRAMA!!

I wouldn't change a thing.

Love you all,
Momma

Keeping Balance

In case you've been listening to Year Zero on constant rotation *whistles innocently at no one in particular* and you've been getting into the mindset that maybe Trent has a clue and we're all DOOMED (not that I'd get sucked in like that, no not me), here's a link for you to smooth out the wrinkles in your worried little brain.

A Brief History of the Apocalypse

Starting as long ago as 2800 BC:

"According to Isaac Asimov's Book of Facts (1979), an Assyrian clay tablet dating to approximately 2800 BC was unearthed bearing the words "Our earth is degenerate in these latter days. There are signs that the world is speedily coming to an end. Bribery and corruption are common." This is one of the earliest examples of the perception of moral decay in society being interpreted as a sign of the imminent end."

Next apocalypse is April 29, 2007 according to Pat Robertson! Everyone plan to sleep in!

Or you can just go that torrent route.

Or wait for that very special night. :-D

I just got this on Myspace. Most amusing!

--

From Daphne Carr:

I am working on writing project about the album Pretty Hate Machine
that will be published in 2007. I am seeking out fans of NIN who would
be willing to be interviewed about their current or past love of
Reznorâs music (with emphasis on PHM but not excluding later work)
and its impact on their lives. I am looking for fans who currently
maintain residence in Mercer, PA; Youngstown, OH; and Cleveland, OH and
am open to speaking with all fans but am especially interested in fans
in their 30s and 40s. If you or someone you know would be interested in
participating in this project, please email me at
musicwriting@gmail.com and include a short paragraph about your
background, why you love PHM how it has impacted your life. I will
respond to all emails.

Any Nincon plans?

So, I can't help but notice that there's a NIN show scheduled for May 24 in Toronto (the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend)...I'm already hoping to hit the one on the 23rd in the Boston area, but I didn't know if people had any sort of plans for the Toronto show or not. (In other words, should I even think about Toronto, or should I just content myself w/Portland, Boston and possibly Hartford?) Money's awfully tight, but weirder things have happened...

EDIT: OK, I'm officially a moron...I just realized, after grlykitty's post, that I was thinking of tour dates that are actually happening in JUNE, not May. NIN will indeed be out west for Memorial Day weekend, not here on the east coast. Apparently my iMac at home isn't the only thing that's well on its way to being toast... *sigh*

Move along, nothing to see here...

Thank you to all the a.m.ninnies

I just wanted to extend my heartfelt thanks to all of the a.m.ninnies out there--I found out a short while ago that the remix of "Only" which I finished for a radio station KNRK 94.7) contest was voted by the listeners....long story short, it looks like I will (presuming that there are no disasters) be meeting Mr. Reznor (Trent, not Bob) in person for the first time ever this weekend!

Thank you to all the a.m.ninnies for the support....it means so much to me!

Je Vive Encore...

I had forgotten I was a member of this community...I'm forgetting a lot of things. I would like to join with anyone in mourning Nola. As some people may know, I have been good friends with the author Leilah Wendell. The Westgate, her museum on Magazine Street, was ruined by the floods of Katrina.

I hope you all are well and have had much success in moving forward since last we may have chatted.

mcd a finalist for (local radio station) 94.7's NIN "Only" remix....

Hello fellow a.m.ninnies--the alternative radio station here in Portland (94.7 KNRK) recently held a submission for "Only" remixes--the top five remixes (as chosen by the DJ) will be available for people to listen and vote on. The winning remixer will get a chance to meet Trent Reznor (NIN plays here in Portland on 9/24) and play the remix for him....

Long story short, the remix which I submitted ("Night Version") wound up being in the Final Five! I'm wondering if fellow a.m.ninnies would listen to the Final Five remixes and vote on your favorite ones? I'm *not* going to say "vote for mine!" because a friend and a fellow local musician (Damon Law, of Written In Ashes fame) also wound up in the Final Five. Although it would be amazing to be able to meet Trent in person, I would love to see people to vote for their favorite remixes....

Anyhow, the remixes and the voting link can be found here: http://www.947.fm/Article.asp?PT=Contests&id=115966

NOLA relief

sell on ebay and donate to Americares
If you're tapped for money join me in selling stuff you really don't use anymore and sending the money to a relief organization.
I like Americares since the percent of money used for overhead is much lower than some of the over blotted mega-charities.
Hey anything you can send by any means neccessary.
Sending clothes, food, and medical stuffs is great if there is a pipeline already in place, but money moves quicker than a can of soup.
Sell that old GPS, PDA, mp3 player you don't need or use.
I'm digging around in my closet of goodies, oh look there is a 15" NEC monitor somebody will buy it.
