Roles and the playing of them... [Aug. 20th, 2008|05:34 pm]

[music |The Wrong Side - Abney Park]

I have a fever and the only cure is more role playing...
I'm on the PbEM patch right now but it ain't cutting the cravings much.
Mostly 'cause of the two games I'm in I get an email once every week from one and once every 6 months from the other, prolly longer. Damn you real life stop slowing up my GMs!
*fist shaking*
The one on-going IRL campaign I am in, Pez's, will like as not be happening again in September, maybe October. My withdrawal is such that I am already thinking forward to AmberCon US in April 2009.
Come on people! Almost everyone I know role plays, 'cept Webby who might've read this anyway since I paraphrase Christopher Walken and mention her, so why can't any of you frellin' RUN SOMETHING!

This has been a public service anouncement from the 'Keep Bastard Sane Society'.

SUV drivers [Aug. 20th, 2008|04:25 pm]

[mood | alive...this time]

I *hate* SUV drivers who think the size of their vehicle means that they can rule the road and bully smaller cars. I had a pair to the right of my car decide to push me around. One needed to cross two lanes to get to a turn lane, the other just wanted to get in front of me to continue straight rather than be forced into a right turn only lane.

Neither gave me any warning before starting to make their moves. I suppose both of them had broken signal lights, too.

I'm alive. This time.

You've all heard me talk about my novel, Pels. Well, meet Pels, who now has her own journal at [info]pelsandfriends, and she and her friends will be writing entries and bits of backstory and helping me live in their heads for the next while so I can get the damned novel done.

This journal is spoilerish, but frankly, I don't think the main event that it spoils is that much of a spoiler.

Pels will be doing LJ Idol. More to give me prompts to write to for her, and to get her voice (and Jenna's voice and Scott's voice) in order and their stories in my head.

Anyway, they'll start posting when the time comes. Not yet, thank the gods. Today I will wrest another half chapter out of Jenna and be pleased with that, I hope.

[mood | annoyed]

so one of our employees has departed, leaving the tech group in my office shorthanded yet again. this particular employee had only been with us for about a year.

apart from the hassle of having to - yet again - do a recruitment for yet another employee, which doesn't really affect me apart from being annoying, I have no real opinion about his leaving overall... except for one thing.

why I shouldn't have two pies and a batch of cookies in the house all at once.

because without warning, I might get a package from Mom with a batch of peanut butter fudge in it. and you tell me, is that too many sugary treats in the house at once or what?

my apple pie has been demoted, though. I think it's been longer since the last apple pie than it has been since we got peanut butter fudge from Mom, but David bypassed the pie in favor of fudge last night. I'll have to tell her.

on the other hand, he might have opted for the pie if I'd remembered to pick up some vanilla ice cream when I stopped at Hy-Vee on the way home.

mmm... fudge. I've had other peanut butter fudge, and this stuff is definitely better. too bad she hasn't remembered to send me the recipe yet.

Plus: Apparently they've fixed the Audacity audio editor so that if you try to write MP3s from a 96/24 file, it writes valid 48Khz MP3 files.
Minus: My CD burning software apparently can't burn an audio CD from 48Khz MP3 files.

I dig this song. [Aug. 19th, 2008|09:56 pm]

Ceili's Muse used to sing it. It's my model for "creepy lullaby"

Oddly, "Creepy Lullaby" is a new ability in Kingdom of Loathing. I like to think that Jackson Browne is an accordion thief who can do (10-20)+(Mys/10) Spooky Damage every round.

Creepy Lullaby

Type: Combat
MP Cost: 30

You know the world's creepiest lullaby. If you look at the lyrics to most lullabies, you'll know that they're all kind of creepy, but this one takes the cake. Which you shouldn't eat in bed, by the way, because you'll get crumbs on the sheets.
