Before getting into details, we'd like to point out that this is a 16+ community.

This community is based around swapping alternative-themed gifts anonymously with other members, much in the style of

secretpostuk. I was a member of

secretpostuk but decided I would rather have a community that wasn't largely based around the increasingly-popular 'fruits' culture (so no big plastic beads, fruit/polka-dot/stripe prints or kiddy jewellery).

THE SECRET POST
♥ This community is much like Secret Santa, except we run it every other month!
♥ This community is only open to users in the UK & Ireland
♥ Each time, if you choose to participate, you will be sent the details of another user and then required to compile a package for them to a set cost.
♥ YOU DO NOT HAVE TO PARTICIPATE EVERY TIME IF YOU DON'T WANT TO!
♥ This community is Invite Only. Feel free to recommend a friend, but you have to be sure they're going to stick to the rules.

TO TAKE PART:
♥ Join the community here (please don't just add us as a friend).
♥ Wait to be approved as a member. Criteria:
- You must live within the UK or Ireland.
- You must be 16 years of age or over.
- You must have been invited.
- You must have been an LJ user for a year or more.
- You must have updated your journal within the past month (if you haven't but are active on communities, then email the moderators with a link to a community post).
- This is an ALTERNATIVE secret post community so you must 'be alt' (cyber/vampire/horror/EBM/industrial/fetish). It would kind of be pointless otherwise :p
♥ Send an email (subject line - 'ALTPOSTUK SECRET') to the moderators, containing:
- LJ username
- Real name
- Address
- Email address
♥ Once approved, make a friends-locked post to the community, containing:
- List of likes and dislikes (feel free to include images of the type of things you like)
- The LJ usernames/email addresses of any friends you have who will be happy to help with item selection for your package (real friends, partners, housemates etc...)
- Please make sure the Subject for the entry is 'Likes & Dislikes' and you put your content under a cut.
♥ Your likes & dislikes will be added to the community's Memories section.
♥ Every other month there will be a post marking the start of the new cycle.
♥ If you comment in the monthly cycle post that you want to take part, you will be emailed all the details you need for your secret post receiver.
♥ Keep an eye on the community to get details of upcoming posts - PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU ADD US TO YOUR FRIENDS LIST OR YOU WILL MISS THINGS!.
♥ Please do post pics of your pressies! If you can't you MUST put up a post at least describing what you got.
♥ at the end of every cycle, once all gifts have been received, we will reveal who sent to who.

PARCEL RULES
♥ Each package must be worth a minimum of £7.50 (not including postage & packing). In October, in honour of Halloween (the MOST important holiday of the year), the minimum value will be £10.
♥ Second-hand items ARE allowed but MUST be in ADDITION to your £7.50 minimum gift or actually new/in like new condition.
♥ Hand-made items ARE allowed but PLEASE be sensible and honest when placing a value on them! Any possible harshness aside... YES, effort counts towards value but be reasonable and make sure any hand-made item is of a high quality.
♥ You must send your package Recorded Delivery, which helps us avoid any confusion and resolve disputes relatively easily (it only costs an extra 65p).
♥ Once your package is sent, please email the Recorded Delivery Tracking Number, the date you sent it and how much it cost, to the moderators (subject line - 'TRACKING NUMBER').
♥ All packages MUST be received by your allocated user by the date stated on the post at the beginning of the month.
♥ Please remember these rules and, most importantly, HAVE FUN!
