| About: | Greetings, and welcome to the Alternative Parents of Toronto live journal! This is a community of alternative parents (ie. anyone not considered the conservative 'norm' when it comes to being moms, dads, caregivers and guardians), and all ages, races, genders, and religions are welcome to join. This diverse group is made up of parents in the GTA and surrounding area, and consists of goths, punks, tattoo & piercing enthusiasts, gays, lesbians & bi's, etc. Generally, anyone that doesn't fit the soccer mom/dad standard! My goal for this community is to create a large network of like minded parents to get together for outings with our children, share advice, stories, joys & gripes, possible toy & clothing exchange, and basically to make new friends for both ourselves and our kids. Thanx for your interest, and I hope to see you as a member in the near future! ***Please note: This community is now officially an LJ-only community. We will still be having get-togethers and events, but on an infrequent & indefinite basis; For example, we will still be doing the annual Holiday luncheon and celebrating A.P.T.'s anniversary. A.P.T. members are also encouraged to organize their own events for the community, and are welcome to do at any time.
