Aside from being a haven for yaoi fanfic writers and fan artists, we have specifically conceived this community especially for those who have felt alienated by other fandoms from which they came. Have you ever been criticized for your choice of pairing in an anime? Have you ever been put down for not following the "rules" or "canon" of your favorite anime or manga? Have you ever been flamed just for daring to write a fic or draw a fanart that is considered outside the norm of your community? If you answered YES to any of the above, then ALTERNATIVE YAOI is the place for you! We strongly believe in allowing fanfic writers and fan artists to explore their favorite anime/manga without any restrictions or need for labels. Here, the key words are IMAGINATION, CREATIVITY and INGENUITY. If you can write a good story or draw a fine piece of art, then by all means share them here. For now, we are concentrating on Gankutsuou, Samurai 7, and Kyou Kara Maou (because these are our favorites), but ALL FANDOMS are welcome to post here. Admittedly, we are very greedy for good stories and arts, and we would really like to have a nice home for all those talented people out there. We finally have our FIRST affiliate! (This is a yaoi community after all, unless some very smart writer can come up with a way to turn Kirara into a guy.) 2) ABSOLUTELY NO FLAMING! (Both of us have a very low tolerance for flamers and troublemakers.) 3) Posting Rules: When posting fics or fanarts, please include the following information… NAME OF FANDOM: TITLE OF STORY/ART: NAME OF AUTHOR: COPYRIGHT DATE OF STORY/ART: (We STRONGLY INSIST that EVERYONE make a habit of putting this notice in ALL your works for your protection against plagiarists.) PAIRING: RATING: G, PG, NC-17 or whatever SPOILER WARNING: (Where applicable; this is only intended for those peeps who hate to be spoiled) STORY/ART URL: (If your work is archived in another website or LJ) CROSSPOSTED TO: (Where applicable) *PLEASE PLACE FICS AND FANARTS BEHIND AN LJ-CUT.* 4) Reviews are encouraged here. This will give the writer/artist the incentive to improve his or her craft. Constructive criticisms are also welcome. However, they should be carefully and TACTFULLY worded so as to avoid hurt feelings. Rory is a professional writer and editor, and she has also attended seminars on doing reviews, so she knows just how thin is the line between constructive criticisms and flames. If you feel you can't say anything nice, then don't say anything at all. 5) Announcements/discussions that are of interest to the community are also welcome here. However, we highly recommend that any topics for discussion be brought to your attention first. We've seen innocent discussions turn into outright flame wars, and we want to avoid that from happening here. 6) Any complaints should be sent directly to roryheadmavatyahoodotcom AND saiyukihanaatyahoodotcom. We will deal with the matter AS WE SEE FIT. Flames warrant an outright ban, so watch yourselves! This covers just about everything. We really want Alternative Yaoi to work.
