After an absence of over a year and a half, The Honeycomb, now known as 'The Hive' makes a welcome return to the Edinburgh clubbing community.

Whilst The Honeycomb specialised in dance, at 'The Hive' we're keen to establish nights that can create synergy between both the electronic/dance and indie/alt crowds by taking full advantage of our twin rooms. It's all about mixing it up, taking a wrong turn in the maze of rooms, and discovering something you never knew you would like. An audio clash of sorts.

Launching on Saturday 14th with a whole host of familiar faces spread over 2 genre-spanning rooms, our new night, /slashdot, epitomises this concept.

Rotating guest DJs sourced from already established local nights will offer an authoritative voice on their respective genres. The first month alone will see Split, Bass Syndicate, Manga, Dogma, Obscene and Access man the main room playing DRUM AND BASS/ELECTRO/TECHNO/BREAKS, while Room 2 sees The Goulag Beat, Fast, Dogtooth and I Fly Spitfires provide INDIE/PUNK/NEW WAVE.

The opening night on the 14th of July brings two of the heavyweights of the scene together for a tête à tête as former Dogma DJs Nomad & B*Wilder go up against G*Mac and DJ Believe from Manga and Bass Syndicate.

With an ethos of keeping the prices low, and the quality high, the night offers free entry until midnight and £5 after. Drinks will be available from £1.50 all night. For the occasional free entry and complimentary drink thrown your way you can also join our guestlist at www.myspace.com/clubhive.

Running for just under 3 years NEON is Subway Cowgate's fortnightly mash up of all things goth.bleep.industrial. rockmetal.grunge.punk.eighties

This fortnight it falls on the same night as Combichrist so we're inviting you all round after.

An idea I've been kicking around for a while has been a website that acts as a directory of creative types in and around Aberdeen.

I know that there is a flourishing RPG scene in Aberdeen, a music scene, two universities with computing departments that turn out web-programmers or developers, so there are different sorts of people who I'd think benefit from such a site.

I'd like to develop the idea some more into a more definite proposal and would be interested in any input people care to make.

'Creative types' could cover artists, photographers, web developers, writers, DB programmers, jewelery makers and a dozen other different types. I'd find a directory very useful both as a means of getting work out there and as tool to find artistic types who can assist with different projects.

Dependant on the particular type of creative person I'm imagining a database driven system that stores contact information about the person, cost, examples of work, genre, style etc.

If anyone is interested in assisting with this project that please drop a post here.

Hello everyone, i live in england atm. but will be moving to aberdeen later this year so thought it might be nice to chat to some people in the area. When i move up there i would also be interested in finding any alternative/different looking models to photograph purely for portfolio use, i wouldn't be able to pay models but i can give free pics to add to modelling portfolios etc. So if any of you are interested or know people in the area who may be just post a reply to this.

I went to HJB the night that it was first closed. It was sliently surreal, people sitting looking shell shocked.

Mind you it was only the first monday in a while that I actually wanted to go. Which I guess could give an indication of why it was closed; people just not wanting to go out on a monday?
