Article in the Sydney Morning Herald: LaPaglia's desperate move to see Sydney FC. Gist of the story: LaPaglia has convinced Bruckheimer/CBS to film WAT in Japan so he can attend the FIFA soccer tournament when Sydney FC plays in it.

Saw this on Google alerts, but beware of potential plot spoilers in the description if you go to the page. I kinda wish I hadn't even seen that much. I'm trying to remain as spoiler-free on it as possible.

The final 18 episodes of Murder One will be hitting store shelves on November 15 in a 5 disc set (810 mins). The Full Frame (1.33:1) presentation will be accompanied by Dolby Surround audio trakcs in English, French and Spanish, as well as English and Spanish subtitles. The set will sell for $59.98 US, or $89.98 CAN

Various LaPaglia tidbits

Now that the relatives have left, I can catch up on some news...

1) April's Venice Magazine (apparently only available in California/Los Angeles) features LaPaglia on the cover with a multi-page article full of large, colour photos inside. Folks with access to it should look out for it! For the rest of us, here are some ebay links:

While there isn't much good at the moment on ebay in terms of pictures, there are a lot of auctions for upcoming magazines that feature LaPaglia, so I figured I'd post links to three sorta randomly selected auctions for the mags in order to let folks know about them. I don't know enough about New Idea Magazine to know if it's a crappy tabloid or something more legit, so if someone out there knows, please enlighten me.

Winter Solstice pictures

There are some production photos from Winter Solstice up here on Yahoo.

Most of them we've seen before (some in much larger, nicer versions on the Sound Pictures press page), but there's at least one with LaPaglia and Janney I haven't seen before.

Also, I just checked the official movie site again, and there's stuff there. Not much we haven't read before elsewhere, but there is a nice Flash pic of LaPaglia on the main page. I've captured it and put it here in my photobucket for now:

The official site still doesn't seem to provide actual useful information, such as when/where it's playing. :/

Sorry if I'm behind on other news and goodies lately, as I have not been feeling well.

The Desert Reel Film Festival has announced the film "Happy Hour" has been selected to open the 2005 festival.

Winter Solstice will be released in Canada on April 15. It doesn't say where, so check your local film listings to see if it will play near you. No word yet on release outside of North America.

I've added this to the calendar at LaPaglia Respect (http://movies.groups.yahoo.com/group/lapagliarespect/) with automated reminders to be issued one week before and one day before, similar to the entry already made for the April 8 US limited release.

Winter Solstice Trailer

Despite the fact that the "official site" still has nothing of interest, a friend of mine here on LiveJournal commented in my journal today to let me know about a new trailer for Winter Solstice on Apple's site (right click and "save as" to get a copy...Mac users do something similar I think, maybe command-click?). It's 19MB.

I watched it even though I'm spoiler-averse because I'm not sure if I'll get a chance to see the actual movie any time soon. I don't think it's got spoilers. Nothing stuck out as "hey, that's probably a giveaway to the whole film" or anything. But obviously I haven't seen the whole film so this is just a guess. It seems like a nice set of clips from the movie.

And naturally, LaPaglia is gorgeous and appears to be doing a fine range of wonderful acting, as always!

LaPaglia donates SAG awards gift bag to charity auction

I saw the Google Alert that LaPaglia had donated his SAG gift bag to http://www.clothesoffourback.org/ (he has donated tuxedos, watches, etc. in the past), and was going to mention it anyway but then today I got email from the Clothes Off Our Back people themselves asking me to help publicize the auction. This is the third time LaPaglia-related PR folks have approached me to help get the word out on stuff related to him. I wonder if I'm on some kind of list or something? Cool!

Anyway, I located the exact URL for the SAG bag auction, which ends at 10:00 pm Eastern Time on March 13. It's currently at $1000. The page lists everything that's in the gift bag; wow, that's a lot of stuff. Kudos to LaPaglia for generously giving it away for charitable purposes. Proceeds from the sale will go to Children's Defense Fund, Smile Train, Cure Autism Now and UNICEF's tsunami relief fund.
