3:19 pm - In which they board ship for the Isle of Nemedia
|

caralindacat
|
The note read:
I have been offering this opportunity to have a part in the great Game
to those with the right abilities and temperment, and I believe you are
among them.
Those who choose to participate in this opportunity will be called on
to interfere with, by whatever means possible, those active in the
Game. Incapacitation of some sort is preferred. Payment will be
made for this service, of course, and you are free to leave at any time
should you find it not for you.
A ship called Persephone's Song leaves the harbor at one hour before
midnight tomorrow night. Those aboard are bound for the Nemedian
Isle, and a role in the greatest event of our time. I hope to see
you among their number. Bring whatever you feel you may need;
resources are available to you on the Isle, but they are not
unlimited.
-Asha

Everyone – from the lowest guttersnipe to the High Priests – knew about the Game. Everyone knew why it had started, who had initiated it, and what the goal was. Everyone knew of the Nemedian’s isolation, their Goddess, the underground cove, and the political forces at work.
Everybody thought they knew more than everybody else, though, and everybody was absolutely sure that they were in possession of some secret fact. And since everybody knew more than everybody else, everybody wanted a slice of the pie.
( The Nemedians had not counted on the overwhelming reaction to their Game. )

A few DM imperatives. DS, Icchan - I want your character sheets by the end of next week. DTF-chan - I want Milda's profile reworked by the end of next week.
By next weekend I should have all the relevant game info ready to post. That will include events leading up to the opening game, which I will automatically assume you all know. I don't want to take chat time to rehash events that have been posted elsewhere.
That being said, if I don't get said information posted, feel free to hand out punishment in an appropriate fashion.
As always, if anyone has suggestions/complaints/ideas, contact me or post them here.

8:23 am - Teh Rules
|

1)The GM is god. ( elaboration? ) 2) No Godmodding.
( regarding others ) ( regarding yourself ) 3) Although we won't be using dice, respect the rules of a turn-based system, both in and out of combat. Try not to post more than one action at a time, and make sure you give the other players time to respond to things.
4) Be aware of where your character is, where other characters are, and where things in the location are.
5) Your character can be an ass. You cannot.
( elaborate? )
Mechanics:
The game will (at least at the beginning) be played through AIM chat, on friday evenings (starting time TBD). I expect regular attendance and participation, just exactly as if this were in person. If life interferes, tell me. I'm always online, just drop me a line or leave a note here in the comm what the situation is; even a one-line "Gonna be gone tonight" is acceptable.
The game will be played without dice. This does not mean there are no rules (otherwise, what am I typing?) or structure. It just means that instead of trusting the dice to tell you what happens, you trust me. Should this system not work, we can switch over to traditional style through the use of various online resources. I would rather not do that, however.
There will be a main chat window where the actual game takes place. The majority of what goes on in there will be game-related, in character communication. Here's what I'd like to see in the way of formatting: -Tag your out of character posts. [OOC] works. So does (OOC), {OOC}, or any way of setting off the comment. -By the same token, if you're making an OOC comment or asking/answering a question directly of another player and for some reason can't do it in a private chat window, tag the post likewise. {GM}, [Clawed], Shadow:, etc. -Please, please in the main chat, use a normal font and font size, and a white background. changing text colors is okay. -IC speech is in quotations. (Clawed says, "I want food.") IC actions are as in normal writing. (Clawed picks up a pencil.) Use full sentences and correct punctuation and grammer. Taking the time to form your actions and thoughts into real, actual writing will help keep things moving at a reasonable speed. Minimize use of emoticons and chatspeak. -Present tense, third-person limited, please.
-Address IC issues by character name: Shadow, are you going to climb the ladder first? -Address OOC issues by player name/nickname: GM, can I post this first?

8:11 pm - World Snippet - Magic
|

caralindacat
|
Magic permeated everything. It soaked into the ground, existed in
the air, and was, essentially, a part of every living thing. At
least, that's what those who could tap into the various forms of magic
in the world wanted people to believe, and it was probably true anyway.
At any rate, magic was a very visible part of life. Creatures
made entirely of magic roamed the land, magical items, though rare,
were not out of the ordinary, and magic users made up at least a fourth
of the population of the known world. Most people couldn't
imagine a life without some sort of magic, and while the big things
still inspired awe and fear, the little magics became mundane and
ordinary.

1:01 am - Milda - Bio
|

capt_headwound
|
Mildana is...well was a priestess. She can't remember who of...she really didn't pay that much attention to the god/goddess. She spent most of her time paying attention to the High Priest. When one of her fellow sisters discovered her in his bedchamber, rather unclothed, she was sentenced to death on the spot. Luckily, her real, biological sister was a good friend of the temple's wine master, and was able to sneak her out through the catacombs the night before her beheading. She now lives with a lame dwarf named Spicket who was a friend of her father's and feels he owes the family a favor. She spends most of her time wondering around looking for odd jobs to support her odd housemate and herself. Since the Priest in her situation was not punished, she has decided that human men are cowardly, not to be trusted, and seizes opportunities to ridicule them publicly.

5:58 pm - Shar - Bio
|

Quote: *Fustrated glare, arms flung wide in a gesture that seems to say "What are you looking at?!"*
Shar doesn't remember a lot of things. More correctly, Shar knows a lot of things, but can't remember how or why. Like why his first concious memory starts with waking up half-frozen and buried in a snowbank by the side of a road, unable to remember how he got there or when. Cue rising panic when he realized he didn't even know his own name. His only clues, aside from his distinctly non-winter wear clothing and a dull-edged utility dagger, were a reed flute and a mostly-blank accounting ledger that had badly drawn childish doodles scribbled in the margins and the name "Shar Rasheren" in elven script on the inside cover, which provided small comfort because being able to at least read elven meant he wasn't totally amnesiac, just nearly. He wasn't sure if that's supposed to be his name or not, but adopted it anyway.

In a world in which there are enough gods to truly justify the word
"pantheon," you're bound to have your bad eggs. Those bad eggs
are bound to eventually get a reputation, especially if they walk among
mortals.

10:34 am - Rules and stuff, part 1
|

caralindacat
|
Alright. Character bios should be posted as new entries, not as
comments, and, of course, they all have to be approved. Not that
this should be a problem. Reference the next entry.
We are playing in the world of Faerun, insofar as races, pantheon,
skills, alignments, etc are concerned, so you're willing to draw from
any one of the sources available for that or related worlds. Or,
you can say "screw you" to that and come up with your own thing.
If you do, though, deviate from the standard, expect to give me a full
description of everything and anything relating to your character.
I'll be posting a history and current situation of where we'll be
starting out on the game page over at my site (link's in the sidebar
over there), and character info here on the important people in the
area. Don't be looking for an uber-serious game here. Not
that I expect a party of comic relief, but consider yourself warned
that not everything is going to be taken seriously.
Since the game is chat, that means freeform. Feel free to fully
stat out your character, but keep in mind that those numbers aren't
going to mean much in-game. What's far more important is what
those numbers represent - the personality, history, mentality, and
ability of your character. I expect a true bio, of a decent
length. Take as long as you need to describe him; I'm a very good
reader.
Yeah, I know you all know this. But I am sending this info to some people that haven't really done this before, too.
Character Sheet: I have a
questionnaire available for anyone who wants it. It's a handy
tool for me to have, so I'm going to encourage you to answer it.
That's not a mandate, though. For actual character sheets,
reference the next entry.
In the improbable event that some of you want to do a scene or work out
something between characters between sessions, feel free to do
so. But, anything like that must be posted here (we're all
grown-up gamers here and I chew holes in anyone who metagames, so don't
worry about IC/OOC info) and is subject to my approval. Not that
I'm a game nazi, but I like to know if two of my party members have
discovered that they have a Tragic Past together, or decide that
they're actually deeply in love with one another.
Tagging. Tag your posts
in the subject by what they are. Episode synopses will be titled
with the appropriate episode number. Character bios should be
titled with the character name, and the word bio. Inter-episode
scenes should be labeled as such. Commentary can be left
untagged.

Well, here is the brand-new community for our little game. This is where we put everything relating to the game that's not covered during our sessions, as well as where I'll post the logs of said sessions for review.
