Welcome to

alluring_stills. This is a LJ icontest community for stock bases. We're a stillness community and every week the mods will give you, the participants {and occasionally the mods}, stock images from which you will make icons.

There are two moderators for this community.

♥ You must be a community member to participate.
♥ Absolutely no animated icons. This is a stillness community.
♥ Submissions must be anonymous. This means you cannot advertise your icon, use your icon in your userpics or ask friends to vote for you. No posting your icon anywhere else before voting has ended. This rule is a must to follow!
♥ You must use the images that are provided unless otherwise stated.
♥ Make sure your icons fit the LJ size standards of 40K and 100x100 or smaller.

♥ Post your icon as a comment to the designated post for that week. {All comment's will be screened to retain anonymity}
♥ When posting your icons in a comment to the challenge post, make sure to post in both IMG SRC form and URL form. Make sure to host them on a server that allows hotlinking! {Photobucket and ImageShack are good for these}
♥ Try to post all your submissions in one comment; this makes it easier for the mods to post voting.

*If you have any trouble with this or further questions, don't hesitate to ask.

♥ A new challenge will be posted every week on Monday.
♥ You will have until one week from that Monday before 12 p.m. EST to enter the challenge {reminders will be posted}.
♥ Voting will be put up on Monday, and run till Wednesday at 7 p.m. EST.
♥ Winners will be posted on Wednesday evening.
♥ Banners will be posted as soon as they become available.

♥ You don't have to be a member to vote.
♥ No anonymous voting allowed.
♥ Vote for your favorite three icons. You will then vote one icon for Best Cropping and one icon for Best Coloring. Voting will take place in the form of screened comments.
♥ Don't vote for your own icon. Doing so will result in one warning. Do it again and you will be removed from the community.
♥ Votes will be tallied in a weighted system {i.e. if you vote for 1, 2, 3 {in that order for first to third}, 1 will be weighted with 3 points, 2 will be weighted with 2 points and 3 with 1 point}.

♥ Every week, there will be an award given for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places. Awards will also be given for Best Cropping and Best Coloring.
♥ The mods will be choosing Mod's Choice as well.
♥ Winners will be given banners.

Here are the rules for the LIMS challenges:

♥ There is a cap of 10 people that may participate in each round. All participants will automatically be granted one skip.
♥ During the voting process of each challenge, you will have to vote for TWO icons you think are of LESSER quality. Your votes must not be based on your personal feelings or subjectivity, but on the formal quality of the icon. You will also vote for TWO FAVORITE icons.
♥ The icons with the most negative votes will be eliminated. Please note that constructive criticism and fair elimination is part of the game. Make sure you can cope with it before you sign up.
♥ When you vote for the icons, you will give a short explanation as to why you think the icons are of a lesser quality or why they are the best. Here are some examples of helpful and not so helpful responses:

For your favorites -

Good response: The icon was clean and the texture was wonderful!

Not so helpful: I liked it.

For least favorites -

Good response: The clash of colors was distracting.

Not so helpful: What a mess.

♥ The votes will be tallied and each participant can ask to receive their comments. But, you are not forced to get them if you don't want them. Those can be sent to you via LJ messages or your e-mail address, whichever you prefer. Voters who made the comments will not be revealed, just the comments themselves.
♥ When you sign up for a round, you must be aware that you will have to participate in several consecutive challenges, unless you asked to use your skip.
