Well here's the least surprising news of the day. After the new reboot of the Friday the 13th franchise grossed $45 million on its opening weekend, Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes production company is going ahead with a sequel. The Hollywood Reporter has good news though-- the new one will probably not be based on any of the previous Friday the 13th sequels, given that they all pretty much suck.

The question remains whether Jared Padalecki and Amanda Righetti, the only two survivors of the original film, will return for the second movie; they both have roles on TV shows (Supernatural for him, The Mentalist for her) and might not be able to return. Especially given that roles in horror movies, Jamie Lee Curtis aside, don't tend to lead to stardom.

I'm so unsurprised by this news that I don't really even know what to say about it. I'm sure we'll see the same thing happen when the new Nightmare on Elm Street makes a bascrillion dollars, and the horror movie industrial cycle will begin anew.

You can bring a whole new dimension to this horror remake on DVD and Blu-ray this May. My Bloody Valentine 3-D will be released on DVD and Blu-ray on May 26. We have no pricing details, cover art or special features as of yet, but we do know that the film will include both the 2-D and 3-D versions of the film, and there will be a set of 3-D glasses included. The film stars Jaime King, Jensen Ackles, Kerr Smith and Edi Gathegi.

    March 1, 2009 – Jensen Ross Ackles, who plays Dean Winchester on “Supernatural” (8 p.m. Thursdays on The CW), turns 31 today.
   He played Alec on the Fox series “Dark Angel” and C.J. on The WB series “Dawson’s Creek.”
   His first acting role was as Michael Duss on the TV series “Wishbone” (1996 episode titled “Viva Wishbonr!”). He was 18.
   Best wishes to Jensen and everybody who shares this special day with him.
