| About: | Full of that dirty, gritty, nostalgia for the future as well as the past that permeated the NAs, that soundtrack of the mid-90s we read them to, where Skunk Anansie was pounding out bitter songs about sex and dreams and racism in the near-future of "Strange Days", and we all read Transit and Timewyrm: Revelation and wanted to drink a bottle of wine alone at night, watching the stars and thinking about the power of those streams of myth that wove, unseen, some distantly remembered past into our future, legends built out of computers and telephone wires and transmats and guns, built of death and tears and kindness and humor and despair; a time when we scoffed at the hype of pre-millennial angst while at the same time thinking of nothing but the future, with a strange, desperate sort of hopeful cynicism. There's a house on Allen Road, owned by a Dr. John Smith. Strange things happen there, sometimes. And sometimes the house is quiet. | |
