Fourth Degree? I am moving soon and I looked on Witchvox for listing of Wiccan groups in the area that I am moving to. I found the following group: http://www.witchvox.com/vn/vn_detail/dt_gr.html?a=usmn&id=26054" Like Gardnerian witchcraft, the Alexandrian tradition offers three initiatory grades, and also a fourth, for the truely advanced devotee of the Goddess and magick."In their description of themselves they say there is a 4* and that they are Alexandrian. Has anyone heard of this before? I have heard rumors in the Proteus tradition that they had a 4* but this is the first time I have heard of it outside of that. cross posted to the wiccan LJ community Current Mood: curious | | Wednesday, May 9th, 2007 | 8:35 pm [gwenyviere]

My introduction Hello everyone! I am here to learn from the Alexandrians on LJ and figured that since I joined an Alexandrian LJ community I should introduce myself. Lets see...I am 30, a mother of two and wife to a firefighter in the Central FL area. I am a dedicant of a small, but wonderful Alexandrian Coven in FL. I have been pagan for most of my life, but I have just recently (5 yrs ago) started to get into the local community and learn from others of like mind! I love the Tarot and ritual. I am also into the "old guard" peronalities of the Wica. Like GBG, Alex and Maxine Sanders. So I try to collect newpaper clippings, pictures and books whenever I can about them. I lurk on Amber and Jet yahoo group as well. Current Mood: cheerful | | Sunday, November 12th, 2006 | 10:06 pm [tryst_inn]

Can someone verify this? "July 28, 2006 - Pete Pathfinder Davis and his working partner, E'bet Tennis were honored by being initiated to 3rd. degree in Alexandrian and British Traditional Wicca by Lady Zara, Coven of Akhelarre, Salem, MA., chartered by Temple of the Mother, of Wingham, Kent, England"
My first thought was: Do they know this man's history?!? | | Tuesday, April 18th, 2006 | 8:31 pm [tryst_inn]

basic intro and question I've been lurking for a few months now, and I have a question.
After 15 years and a great deal of growing up on my part, I'm exploring the possibility of returning to my Alexandrian training. The road back to this point has been disappointing at best and abusive at worst.
However, in that 15 years, my life has changed a great deal. For one thing, I am now the parent of a toddler.
I know that specific groups will handle this question very differently, but, in general, how child-friendly is Alexandrian?
The Alexandrian group I initiated with back in the late '80's had some pre-teens and teenagers who didn't participate. I am unclear if that was the parents' choice or the kids'. All holidays and moon rituals were clothed, though.
As I said, I am still in the considering stage. For one thing, there's not much we can do to actively pursue this until we are out of rural New Mexico. By rural, I mean that Albuquerque/Santa Fe is 4-5 *hours* drive from us, Amarillo Tx and Lubbock Tx are both 2+ hours drive from us, and Roswell is 90 minutes away.
Thanks for your time :)

Trying to find a vouch for a Lexie in IL Trying to help a friend who has relocated to IL:
Lady Morgen HPP Coven of the Crossroads Sister ~ HPP Coven of the LAKE
Her Witchvox profile (since removed, dated July 2004) stated: Coven of the Crossroads was born out of the cooperative efforts of Lyn Nitz (Alexandrian HPP - 25 years exp.) and Marty Couch (Alexandrian HP & Elemental Priest - 20 years exp.)

Differences in Alexandrians.... I notice now, that although Alexandrians have a common root, their practise greatly changes from person to person, coven to coven and upline to upline. It all makes me curious about how much variation in Alexandrians there really is out there. In a lot of uplines there is a certain amount of eclecticism intertwined amongst the Alexandrian teachings. I mean.... the founders were ecelectic by nature, piecing it together from many sources. What I mean by a certain amount of eclectism is that stuff we do between the Alexandrian rituals and literature. A coven may take an afternoon to learn about Tarot, or Dowsing, or Sweat Lodges, or something which is not Alexandrian, as part of their greater spiritual training. But when it comes down to it, they are Alexandrian and practise in that style. This is all quite funny when I hear Alexandrians bash eclectic practise. Alexandrians (and BTW in general) often tends to incorporate eclectic practises, just like eclectic practise often tends to incorporate aspects of BTW (or ceremonial magic etc). But back to my point.... what happens when an Alexandrian becomes too eclectic that they no longer are teaching Alexandrian things other than maybe some of the rituals? Are they still Alexandrian?? So here are some questions I would like to pose. What makes Alexandrians inherently Alexandrian, OTHER then our uplines? Is it our Book of Shadows? Don't they tend to vary from upline to upline? So, are they still Alexandrians? If you are initiated in one tradition but primarily practise something else, which tradition are you?? book about Alex Sanders, special signed edition for charity appeal for Witchcraft Musuem Hi there, apologies for any cross-posting i have been asked by the Witchcraft Museum in Boscastle to help them out with their flood appeal by selling a very limited edition book on ebay; a book about spirit communication with the shade of Alex Sanders, which was donated by the author to the museum, and which is signed by Graham King, the museum owner, and comes with a letter of authenticity to that effect. There are only 27 copies of this book signed, so it's really a pretty rare thing! Full details to be found here http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4529987588&ssPageName=ADME:B:EF:UK:1 One per person only, in an attempt to root out speculators please forward to any interested parties, and e-lists where such advertising is allowed, cheers dave evans | | Tuesday, February 1st, 2005 | 6:08 pm [achadachad]

Flooded Museum Please forward to any interested parties
It is with growing horror that i watched the TV newslast night- there has been a flash flood, with water up to 10 feet deep, in Boscastle, Cornwall. The town is the home of a unique museum, The Museum Of Witchcraft, and from TV pictures taken from a helicopter i can see that the Museum was in at least 3 feet of water as i watched, with the tide coming in, to complicate matters.
What this means for the unique collections of artefacts and library (including some original 16th century texts) i could only guess, as all phone lines in the area are down, and some roads have been washed away; so communication is impossible right now. The museum has some original Kenneth Grant letters, some unique Crowleyana, a crystal beleived to belong to Austin Spare, the archives and personal effects of Alex Sanders and much more besides... Hopefully no-one has died, although that is unlikely too, as some buildings have been completely destroyed in the immediate area, and more rain is forecast
update.... after a night of much ringing around and a similar morning i have some updates. The museum's structure is not thought to be threatened at present. The library has survived intact. Most of the ground floor exhibits have been immersed in up to 5 feet of water (almost to the ceiling in places, for those of you who know the place) and some are lost, since the flood waters burst the windows. The Crowley and Spare items live on the upper floor, so may be wet, but probably saved; however the lower floor had some unique items which may now be lost. Many of the Sanders exhibits were housed on the ground floor
But no-one from the museum was hurt or killed, and they will be reopening in Spring 2005. Please keep an eye out for the Pagan Federation or Children of Artemis web pages, where support donations can be made shortly

Introduction Hello there, I have been lurking in the community for awhile and thought I should introduce myself. I'm a 1st degree Alexandrian who is interested in various recessions of the craft, from Sabbatic to Regency to Wica. I'm all the way from Australia. Personally I'm more interested in the mystical philosophy and the history behind craft praxis rather than worship or working magic. I'm glad to be on board, as this will help me understand my Alexandrian roots better! Also, I co-moderate a group for those who are of the Wica - or as they call British Traditional Wiccans in the US :) it's at http://www.livejournal.com/community/the_wica | | Wednesday, April 14th, 2004 | 12:00 am [windwriter]

Campaign Against Isis Moon Temple A website named Isis Moon Temple purports to offer online training and initiation (for a fee) into the Gardnerian and Alexandrian Wiccan traditions. This is fraud to the highest degree, and seekers should beware. http://isismoontemple.com/witchcraft1intro.htmlA number of Alexandrian Elders have begun e-mailing the temple to ask that they stop describing any of their teachings as Alexandrian. Gardnerian and Alexandrian Elders are welcome to do the same. A sample letter, written by another Alexandrian Elder, is below. ( Read more... )My apologies for the multiple postings in various communities. | | Tuesday, March 30th, 2004 | 12:00 pm [arrowhawk] |
greetings I am new to this group, so I believe an introduction would be useful.
My name is Shon. I am not an Alexandrian. I have studied peganism, in several forms, for about a decade now. I live in portland oregon. Several of my current friends are in or near the Alexandrian tradition, which is a nice occurance because I have been interested in seeing what you all are up to for a while now.
I spend my time split between studying in a Master of Divinity program at Marylhurst (I am on my way to a Doctorate in Divinity)and a running a spiritual consultation + training business (tarot, astrology, Reiki, Shamanic iniations and healing rituals). I am deeply interested in how people touch spirit and what that touching does to their lives. Conversation and education across traditions to find common ground and to find ways to enhance our particular experiences is one of my greatest passions.
Good to meet you! |
