| About: | At the beginning of the 20th Century, in the dark corners of the world, mysteries wait. Ancient races lurk in the deep jungle, Science Pirates prowl the skies, and eldritch horrors wait just beyond the edges of sanity. As the world recovers from a devastating war, the adventurers of the Alexandria Foundation travel the globe, fighting evil and bringing these mysteries into the light. The world explored by the agents of the Alexandria Foundation is an alternate history 1922. The Great War between the Allies and the Central Powers was still fought, but it was fought with strange machines of electricity and steam. Airships sail the skies, carrying passengers and cargo to all points of the globe. Nikolai Tesla is the celebrated wizard of electricity, while Edison labors in relative obscurity. The Alexandria Foundation was opened in London in 1917, to give hope that the horrors of the Great War might never occur again. Convinced that ignorance was the cause of war, Warren Pennington, scholar, scientist, and retired world adventurer, gathered some of the greatest minds of the new century to prove that science and enlightened humanitarianism would end the bloodshed and prevent future wars. To that end, the Alexandria Foundation funds research, exploration, and scholarship in order to produce leaders for a greater future. However, the world is a larger and stranger than anyone could have dreamed. In the far places of the world lie creatures and peoples unlike any known to civilized man. The mysteries of the world open themselves only to the bold and the resourceful, and so the Foundation maintains in its membership individuals of unique courage and extra-ordinary ability. These adventurers explore the shadows at the edge of the map, finding lost worlds, uncovering ancient mysteries, and fighting those Science Pirates who would pervert the advances of this new century to their own, evil ends. This is community was created for the players of the Alexandria Project tabletop RPG campaign, to help us communicate with each other about the game, and give us a place to put system and background info that doesn't fit at the table. We also hope that our friends and other players/fans of Spirit of the Century will enjoy reading aobut the exploits of our characters. As such, only players will have posting rights to the community.
