despicable
I couldn't really put my thoughts on Sarah Palin into words, but thankfully Jay Smooth of illdoctrine.com did it for me.

Here are a couple of quotes:

"Wow! I expected her to give a good speech, but I didn't expect her to be so snarky, and condescending, and hostile. Dude, anger leads to hate, and hate leads to suffering. Why you trying to take us on the path to the dark side, Sarah Palin? Is this how the McCain-Palin administration is going to handle working with congress? Is this how they're going to approach foreign diplomacy?"

"The difference between a community organizer and a politician is that community organizers are the ones who take the responsibility upon themselves to help their fellow citizens without the benefit of the government budget behind them and go out there every day doing the hard, thankless work to make this country livable, which is what allows you politicians to be able to go on TV and brag about how this is the greatest country in the world. And for you to go on that TV show and spit in those people's faces for the sake of a rhetorical flourish? Is disgusting."

Thank you, Jay Smooth! Watch the video! ♥!

oh, who would ever wanna be king?
→ I find myself increasingly offended by Palin. Not only her snarky speech last night, but everything she stands for. I certainly didn't want to vote for McCain but I didn't feel particularly insulted by him either. This lady is seriously cuckoo for cocoa puffs.

→ My response to more BSG movie casting news (via [info]greycoupon): here )

→ Last night I did do a little scribbling. Nothing worth transcribing, but it's a start!

damn the man! save the empire!
→ I'm really jealous of everyone talking about starting classes. I need one more class for my two-year and I can't take it this semester because none of them are scheduled during a time I'm not working. Lame. I suppose I could have just taken something else to keep my brain a'working but I didn't really think about it. And now that the semester has started I'm super sad I don't have anything to study and fail miserably at. ;)

→ I watched Empire Records again the other day, but it was the "re-mix" with a boatload of deleted/alternate scenes which were awesome. It was really fun watching the movie again. It still made me laugh and I love all of the characters just as much. I only watched that movie about four and a half billion times since I was 13 or 14. Only. And holy!crap! Berko (Coyote Shivers) looks so much like Zach Braff in that movie it's kinda scary!

→ I keep thinking about the "little hater" that [info]sol_se and I talked about the other day. My Little Hater has gotten beyond ridiculous at this point. Fic... Vids... All of my creative endeavors... they're dead in the water.

I do believe the cycle he talks about is true, that life just gets in the way and then when you finally get the time to come back to whatever it is, you don't feel confident to give it another go, and so you procrastinate and then you feel even less confident so you procrastinate some more. That really sums it up perfectly. The question is: if I know what the problem is, I should be able to... overcome it, right? I just need to make myself sit down and create something and ignore that nagging voice inside my head.

What the bloody hell is going on in St. Paul?

This is what happens when you don't watch TV and are away from the internet for days at a time. The world goes crazy when you're not looking!

WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH MY USERPICS?

>>IMAGE REMOVED TO PROTECT MY EYES<<

That's supposed to be an animated icon that [info]charmax made. Instead it's some creepy guy wearing a pirate patch. Am I the only one seeing this?

One of my SGA icons is messed up also...

pass the word
I'm sure those of you who were on my flist last year are semi-familiar with this, but please if you have a spare second read this:

My friend Stacie ([info]truelovepooh) was diagnosed with both stage 2 ovarian and breast cancer on March 26, 2007. Because she was diagnosed while she was still in the 90 day probationary period at her new job, and her husband is an independent truck driver, she ended up completely without health insurance, like so many other Americans in this day and age. Now the hospital is turning her down for treatment because she can't afford it.

Some of her friends have come together to create a fundraiser to help raise money. It's called Fanfic On Demand. It reminds me a lot of Sweet Charity. Authors in all fandoms are invited to sign up to write a fic (the word counts can vary from 2,500 to 20,000+), specifying what fandoms they will write in and what they won't write, and then they are bid on. The highest bidder gets to deliever a fic challenge to the author they have 'won'. The author is then given 30 days after payment is recieved to complete the fic.

I have a LOT of excellent writers on my flist and seeing as this is for all fandoms, I'm trying to get a few people at the very least interested in this.

So if you are at all interested in signing up, I've made the form available for download here. If you decide to do this please send the form to supportstacie@gmail.com.

Also I would be eternally grateful if you pimp this in your own journals or anywhere you can. This is a cause that is really important to me, as I would pretty much do anything for this woman.

Thank you for your time, if you managed to read all the way through this.

→ I came home from work and saw that [info]sol_se got her VividCon DVDs in the mail today so I ran downstairs to ask if I'd gotten any packages today. But! Nobody had checked the mail!! So, I went outside traipsing through the puddles in my bare feet, in the dark!, to the mailbox and can you guess what I found inside? (Well, I never said subtlety was my strong suit.) So yes! I am super excited and kind of feel like doing a vividcon marathon this evening. There are tons I have yet to see and I have the TV all too myself! (Though I may stretch it out a couple of days.)

→ I re-watched the movie Eight Below today. I honestly don't care if it's considered good or not, but I love that movie, despite the sadness. Puppies! I miss having a dog. The re-watching was indeed prompted by the new Fast & The Furious trailer. I can't believe the entire principle principal (Thank you [info]kmousie.) cast is returning. That is just loopy! I never watched a single one of the sequels but I am really tempted to watch this one!
