*kicks the community to life*
Post, post, post! I know I've been an irresponsible maintainer, but really, you can post your own stuff here. (:
Anyway, I uploaded this for a couple of friends, so I might as well post the link here as well. These songs are from a mini CD that's part of local toothpaste brand's Christmas promo package. (You get the CD for free for every box of toothpaste you purchase. :D) This gives you a good taste of what Philippine rock music is like (which some may think of as pop rock, but most Pinoy rock music is really that way), provided that you don't listen to the lyrics. Well, if you do listen to the lyrics, keep in mind that these songs were used as insert songs for that toothpaste brand's TV commercials. They all have the same theme and the important thing is to mention the words, "smile" and "close". :D

There ya go. Just trying to share some music from my home country. :D Comment if you download, 'kay?
By the way, the last time I uploaded stuff for this community, there weren't any comments, but Sendspace says there were a handful of people who downloaded the file. ('A handful' is actually an understatement.) Leechers have been a perennial problem in communities like this and I think whatever scolding I give won't work. I don't think I can ask any of you guys to comment. But, I think it'd be better if you upload something in return to increase the activity in this community. Feel free to advertise your own communities as well. And I'll be updating the rules soon. For one thing, MegaUpload has changed policies. We have to update the rule pertaining to that, right?
If the situation regarding leechers doesn't get any better, I can actually password-protect the zip files and give the password only to those who comment. (You know, there's something you call a screened comment.) I don't want to do that, but I will if I have to.

Okay, so I found a couple of good Korean releases during the past week and I uploaded them for you guys to try it out. I got both albums from Z-Degrees. Credit them if you're posting this anywhere else!
Cherry Filter - Peace N Rock N Roll Cherry Filter's new album may not be as good as their previous one, but it's still worth a listen. This album sounds happier than the past album, but it retains the wonderful Cherry Filter sound, nonetheless. 01 Revolution A.D 02 Peace N' Rock N' roll 03 Happy day 04 Melody 05 yookwehan minyuh 06 juhnjangui madonna 07 I stay here.. 08 kkeutnaji anhneun iyagi 09 Poison Apple 10 yaekseuteura chooldonggi 11 yoori 12 tteum DOWNLOAD BUY
Ray Kang - Here and Now Notes: Ray Kang's music is something that's a bit of pop-rock. His music reminds me a bit of John Mayer, although his music is heavier. His voice is really nice, and if it's important to you, his English is really very good. 01 Intro (Stay With Me) 02 Jigeum Yuhgisuh 03 Nuhn Uhdiye 04 Come 05 Wasting Time 06 Keudaeyuh Annyeonghi(It's Alright) 07 Almost 08 Your Way 09 Heuk Shim 10 Dowajooyo 11 Here I Am DOWNLOAD BUY

I really suck at romanizing Hangul. Ugh. Comment when you're downloading!
And everyone, post, post, post! Share whatever you have! Come on!

I am fighting sleep and the notion of having to wake up early for class tomorrow to finish reading Questionable Content. AND to share some awesome non VK Jrock.
Supercar is (was?) a four-piece pop/rocktronica group with Koji Nakamura on vocals, Junji Ishiwatari on lead guitar, Miki Furukawa on vocals and bass, and Kodai Tazawa on drums and vocals. They did the music for the movie Ping Pong, which starred one of my favorite Japanese actors, Yosuke Kubozuka. They disbanded in 2005, leaving their fans clamoring more of their weirdass PVs. Their PV for White Surf Style 5 didn't get featured on Japanorama for nothing!
( Supercar goodness, click click! )
Don't be shy, everyone! Join up and share the love. ^^

Ellegarden's new single is coming out on August 9, so I come bearing the promotional video. I don't have any download link, but I embedded the YouTube clip. The song is great. It's one of the best singles I've heard from them, and you can really notice that their music is slowly maturing into a harder, more solid sound. They sound less punk-ish now, so if you were annoyed with them before, you can give them a try now and see if you like their new style better.
( Ellegarden ~ Salamander )
I've been listening to the clip over and over again during the past hour. I love it so much!
*pokes everyone* Feel free to post or share anything related to Asian rock music that's not visual kei. Come on, you all have posting access. Pimp some nice non-viskei Asian rock band to this comm. Go! Current Mood: artistic

To kick this community into life, here's a couple of Asian rock albums I really like.
Cloud Cuckoo Land is a Korean rock band that will be releasing their first album on July 24, 2006. They play nice, soft rock. Their music involves more than guitar riffs. The first song, Coffee Is... is a funny, repetitive song sung completely in English, that gives you an idea as to how much the speaker in the song loves coffee. Jjak Sarang is my favorite track. The arrangements consist of some great strings and the song ends with a fun reggae feel. Dashi is a sad, mid-tempo piano rock song and is arguably one of the best tracks in the album. The song was used in the Cracker movie OST. For those who are familiar with Nell's music, Cloud Cuckoo Land is a happier, lighter and more ubpeat and creative version of them. Think of Cloud Cuckoo Land as something like a heavenly mix between Nell and the JRock band Art-School.
All tracks in this album are recommended! I totally love this band's music.

I do hope my romanizations are correct. ^^
Bump of Chicken is a band that's been around the JRock scene for quite some time. They're hugely popular in Japan, ranking 2nd in a poll held by Oricon among 10 to19 year-old respondents. The band originates from Sakura City, Chiba Prefecture and consists of Motoo Fujiwara (vocals, lyrics, composition), Hiroaki Masukawa (guitars), Yoshifumi Naoi (bass), and Hideo Massu (drums). Their music, to me, sounds like re-packaged, modernized, and Japan-ized Beatles rock. The charm of Bump's music lies in their lyrics, though. I usually have to read lyrics translations twice before I can understand what the lyrics mean. Sometimes, there are stories, but most of the time, there are messages hidden underneath layers of figurative language. (Or the meaning sometimes gets lost in translation.) Bump is definitely one of my most favorite bands out there, and they're worth a try.
Ygdrassil is their most recent album, released back in 2004. This was also their first album that I was able to listen to, and I fell in love with their music upon hearing Only Lonely Glory. (Asgard is an instrumental track.)
