You can also use the com for a quick "OH GOD!" question when you are in the middle of writing a fic. The name of a place, where Peter went to school, any information that you think will make your fic better. We can't promise we will have the answer, but we can try!
A few minor rules:
If you ask someone to beta
1. Be receptive to thoughtful feedback. Someone is taking time to help you make a better fic.
2. If you are from outside of the UK, be clear about that so someone with knowledge of britslang can help you out.
3. Request help here but send the fic to your beta either over email or over a messaging programme.
4. Mention the pairing of the fic, the rating, and any topic that might make someone uncomfortable. That way a beta knows what they are signing up for.
If you offer to beta
1. Be constructive. Spazz is nice, and feel free to spazz over certain parts, but really look at the fic as a whole. Does it flow well? Did the author make salient word choice? Is the angst over the top? Are the characters believable?
2. If a fic is emailed to you, please beta and return it within 24 hours. This is a rough guide meant for shorter fics. If you want to beta but think it is going to take longer than that to do a proper job, talk to the author to see if you can have longer. Be sure to give a rough date as to when it can be finished by so the author isn't left hanging. If you don't think you can finish the beta in a reasonable amount of time due to real life butting in, let the author know so he or she can find another beta.
