alanna/jon

Jon and Alanna are from a series of books by Tamora Pierce – one of the leading fantasy authors for young adult – titled the “Song of the Lioness” quartet. Although they’re both featured in subsequent books by the author, this quartet is the one where they, along with several other characters, take center stage.

The quartet is first and foremost about Alanna of Trebond, and her quest to become a knight. In her country, Tortall, females are forbidden to become knights – so she disguises herself as a boy, Alan, for eight years so she can earn her shield.

Her close friend, knight-master, and eventual lover is Jonathan of Conte, one of the few to learn, though events beyond anyone’s control in “Alanna: The First Adventure”, that Alanna is actually female. Their friendship slowly progresses from there, and four years later, when Alanna is going through tests to become a knight, he’s already her lover.

Various other things, of course, happen from there. But chances are if you’re here, you don’t need a summary, right?

i. NO ship wars! This is a community for Alanna/Jon shippers – so why would you want to be here if you support a different couple? And if you DO want to join, for some reason, we request that there be no flaming. There’s no point to it, and all that it will do is get you banned. Okay? Okay! “

ii. NO spam. If you want to advertise your community, it has to be directly related to Jon or Alanna, and you need to email either idealfacade or snowfire first to get permission. Any entries that don’t comply with this will automatically be deleted.

iii. Stay on topic. Any posts not having to do with this community, Jon/Alanna, or Tortall in general will be deleted. A post asking for recommendations for Jon/Alanna songs or a post detailing a new Tamora Pierce book about Tortall are acceptable; a post about your dog or your new favourite show is NOT.

iv. Do NOT wRiTE lIkE THiS. It’s obnoxious.

v. If posting images, make sure they’re under a cut-tag. The only exception to this is icon posts, where you can preview up to four icons. The rest, of course, also have to be under a cut-tag.



This group is the brainchild of idealfacade and snowfire, both of who were lamenting the lack of Jon/Alanna-ness in general one night. idealfacade came up with the brilliant idea to create a LJ community for like-minded people, snowfire thought it was a wonderful idea - hence the group!
