AHAHAH YOU GUYS THEY WERE JUST PLAYING "KING OF THE FAIRIES" FOR LIKE FIVE SECONDS ON THE NEWS.
I know I just updated, but it makes me ~so happy~ when i can pick out one of my obscure celtic songs somewhere.
Like the time The Blood of Cu Chulainn was played on TOday.
heeeee that made my day.
Looking over stuff for a story project I'm working on building the world to, and I realized two things:
First, I somehow ended up with a version of Barack Obama in here. For the record, this character was in existence before Obama came along, but when I found myself writing in this guy's description that he wants to "lead the people from the ground up" I paused and went "Waiiiittt a minute..." I'd been saying that exact same thing while canvassing for Obama! When I told mom that she suggested that it's because it's an archetypal thing, but it was still pretty funny, like the time I realized that one group of people are a lot like Unitarian Universalists. I swear it's not (consciously) on purpose!
Second, that if I'm not careful I could turn the toughest character into a woobie. I already have a designated woobie, so I don't need to have two or to degrade a naturally tough character. Basically I'll need to balance out the sympathy earning qualities with enough backbone to show that he can take care of himself.
I'm still laughing about the first one, though. Who'd have thought?

In light of my experiences in Japan and the fact that I'm not especially enamored with the Peter Pan buses right now I've made my return trip reservations with Amtrak, leaving from Springfield. This gives me a good amount of time with my parents before I leave and will probably be much more comfortable than a bus, plus it allows me to see if I will want to use Amtrak again for coming home for the holidays.
I can really see why they want to get a high-speed line between Springfield and Boston off the ground, but it's been bogged down in the usual legislative bullshit for years. I know from Friday that plenty of people would use it, and with fuel costs the way they are I'm sure people would jump at the opportunity to get to and from without dealing with auto traffic. Plus the trains in Japan were really nice, especially the bullet trains. They were clean, fast, and really handy. I don't get it, America used to use lots of trains, what happened? Maybe they'll make a comeback.
And plus, the ticket only cost me $34. That's only a few dollars more than the bus fair, and if I had been able to use my Student Advantage card it would have been even less. Plus, I like trains. Must be genetic (my Great Uncle Doug is a train enthusiast).
I'm glad I decided to come back home for Columbus Day. Yesterday was good after we sorted out the computer thing (the computer is now working fine so I think we managed to fix whatever was wrong) and today was pretty nice.
I went to church this morning, updated several people on my status (and ended up wishing for a sandwich board with my answers on it since I kept getting asked the same questions) and then Mom and I went off to do a few errands, since I discovered that one of my bras was wearing out (as in it had a gigantic hole in the side -- yeah). ( Cut in case you don't want to read about my jubblies )
While I was down there I also got some supplies for my plants back at Suffolk, mainly the cuttings I made that are just about ready to plant. I'll see about potting soil once I get down there, and even though I haven't found a place that sells it yet I'm sure there's a place somewhere. I ended up getting four small pots and a tray to hold them. I think that by the holiday season they should be ready to give away as gifts to whomever I feel like giving them to.
On my way back I decided to take the scenic route and went up through Sunderland and Leverett to get a good view of the trees. It was quite lovely, and there's just something about the smell of the leaves around here that's indescribably wonderful. This truly is a beautiful area, and I didn't realize how much I was staring to miss it in Boston.

Clannad ~After Story~ - продолжение Clannad'a.
ef - a tale of melodies - ЗА-МЕ-ЧА-ТЕЛЬ-НО!!
whoa, I forgot to mention it:
some months ago, the zone around my home has been chosen for some kind of fireworks-sightseeing place.
I had a lot lovely fireworks sights lately, like yesterday night, and that's good
Beside the fact of having an heart attack everytime it starts >>
I hate you Kyio. I was suppose to apply for Yuri...but noo..instead you make me apply for Kyle as well...=\ now if I didn't have so much trouble writing the 3rd person.
Anyway, I found out that the con. for my college thing is in Washington DC...don't know if I'm going to go...heard that it's freezing there during winter. But then again...isn't anywhere else cold in the winter? Plus, I need the money =\
So...my next research paper in English is Juno. 8D Makes me happy since I don't have to do a crap load of research now.
It turns out that I won't have to replace my laptop, not immediately, at least. When I took it into Best Buy it didn't act up, and me and the tech guy think it may have been a combination of an overworked CPU (which I've corrected) and the fact that it ended up in the storage compartment of the bus at probably got very hot or very cold (this one was suggested by mom, which I hadn't thought of). It hasn't done any of the errors it was doing since I depowered it for several hours, and I took the opportunity to dump excess files once I rebooted. I'm glad, since this computer is more or less the center of my academic life, so losing it or having to get a new one would really throw a major wrench into what I have to do when I get back.
I also had a surprise when it turned out that a neighbor down the street (who frankly is a bit of a flake) apparently asked about me and found out I was at college, so she sent me a card congratulating me on graduating along with $100! Needless to say my jaw hit the floor, and I bought a card that I'll use to thank her. Flaky slightly-crazy lady or not, she certainly did me a favor until I can find a job in Boston.
Also on the good news side, Connecticut has legalized gay marriage! When I get back to Suffolk I'll have to find down Kris, who is from Connecticut, and make him live up to his promise that if Connecticut legalized it he'd so something ridiculous (the exact thing he said he'd do I can't remember, but it would clearly be hilarious).
We appear to have Murphy's Law in effect. I managed to get back home to Western Mass. after a series of things happening that got me here three hours late (and greatly reduced my opinion of the Peter Pan bus company) and now my computer is having trouble starting up, hence I'm typing this from Dad's.
Although, to be fair, the trip started with some very good luck. I had a class until 3:30 and had to be at South Station at 4, so I asked the professor if it would be okay to cut out about 15 minutes early. It turns out I didn't have to to do that since we ended up ending class at 3:00 out of pure luck. That ended up being very good since it turns out that extra half hour was vital considering that everyone in their mother was trying to get out of Boston at the same time, and hence the T and South Station were a friggin zoo.
Once I'd gotten to South Station and was waiting in line was when things started to go wrong. The board showing the buses didn't mention the bus to UMASS/Amherst that I had to be on, but it did mention one to Springfield. Now I, and several other people, made the logical conclusion that we must have been on the Springfield bus and stood in line for it. It also turns out that the tickets you get online neglect to tell you what the bus number is, so it's pure guesswork for you. Naturally, me and several other people had the wrong one and missed the express, and wound up not on the one we wanted but on one that would go to several places first and get us there significantly later. And of course we were the ones who wound up getting blamed for it. Pftt.
So after I realized I was on the wrong bus I called home to say that I'd be getting home significantly later, but I didn't realize at the time how much later it would end up being. Past Worcester it was still stop and go traffic, which resulted in what would be an hour and half trip taking the better part of three. And then, just to prove that Murphy's Law was still in effect, about 10 minutes outside of Springfield there was another traffic accident that delayed us another half hour. Perfect.
I did eventually meet up with Dad and get some Chinese food in Amherst, but at this point it was past 9. Once we finally got back home it then became apparent that my computer was fucked up, since it will keep restarting itself for no apparent reason. Dad thinks it has to do with the anti-virus program that Suffolk gave me conflicting with the program I already had, but I think it may be the wireless card, which had been causing me problems at Suffolk beforehand by not being able to connect with their wireless network (the ethernet and other networks were fine, but for some reason it couldn't communicate with Suffolk's network). So even though I had a hope spot last night when I found that I could in fact connect to our home network it looks like I will have to take my computer to the Geek Squad to get it fixed anyway. Lovely.
On the upside it's good to be home and the leaves are pretty, but otherwise this last day has been quite trying.
okay, I shouldn't watch sad stuff early in the morning like the end of Witchblade 'cause I'll be moody for the whole day T_T
since I've also some happy new anime to view I'll try to boost up my mode now (Nodame Cantabile new season!)
anyhow, busy weekend for me. Magazine shit and stuff to do, prepare an interview or two and so on. Also I really want to do some Photoshop's coloring.
Also, my older cousin became a father some days ago. He seems pretty much happy and all so...good for him >> *I'm still in the phase which I really don't understand how much happiness a child occasionally brings in someone lives*

For some reason I keep coming out Lawful Neutral on these tests...
I Am A: Lawful Neutral Human Sorcerer (3rd Level)
Ability Scores:
Strength-13
Dexterity-14
Constitution-13
Intelligence-14
Wisdom-14
Charisma-13
Alignment:
Lawful Neutral A lawful neutral character acts as law, tradition, or a personal code directs him. Order and organization are paramount to him. He may believe in personal order and live by a code or standard, or he may believe in order for all and favor a strong, organized government. Lawful neutral is the best alignment you can be because it means you are reliable and honorable without being a zealot. However, lawful neutral can be a dangerous alignment because it seeks to eliminate all freedom, choice, and diversity in society.
Race:
Humans are the most adaptable of the common races. Short generations and a penchant for migration and conquest have made them physically diverse as well. Humans are often unorthodox in their dress, sporting unusual hairstyles, fanciful clothes, tattoos, and the like.
Class:
Sorcerers are arcane spellcasters who manipulate magic energy with imagination and talent rather than studious discipline. They have no books, no mentors, no theories just raw power that they direct at will. Sorcerers know fewer spells than wizards do and acquire them more slowly, but they can cast individual spells more often and have no need to prepare their incantations ahead of time. Also unlike wizards, sorcerers cannot specialize in a school of magic. Since sorcerers gain their powers without undergoing the years of rigorous study that wizards go through, they have more time to learn fighting skills and are proficient with simple weapons. Charisma is very important for sorcerers; the higher their value in this ability, the higher the spell level they can cast.

the probably good: my jobplace-thingie isn't going to close up and go bankrupcy. For the time beinga at least.
the mostly bad: I have lot of stuff to do...but I didn't a single thing during the whole day. Urgh >>
the sure suck: the Witchblade torrent I'm downloading (the anime version that probably have like...5 viewer other than me) is stuck at 96%...argh
That screwed up my plan of going bed early after a Witchblade marathon-like...meh DX
For the second time, Ro has managed to fix the dorm's cable box. The first time the culprit was a loose screw, and this time it was a loose cable.
Being the resident techie has its advantages. :3

Houston, Houston, Orb here. It's 21:34 right now. Flight normal, air pressure within limits.
Upgraded notebook's RAM to 2 GB. Should have done it long ago, I guess.
I hope you're happy now, WoW and Opera. XD
Liked the clockwork inside the notebook :)
As of other things.. Haven't watched anime for quite long now. Should finish watching anime of the old season and begin with the new one.. -_-;
Ugh. For some reason I've been really exhausted today and actually went home to take a nap after class. I did however manage to wake up in time for the drag workshop, which is a post for another day.
I also just bought tickets to go home for Columbus Day weekend, leaving on Friday after class. I think I could use a break and some time with the family.
I did manage to "ploosh" as the professor calls it, in my philosophy class. She defines that as the moment when things come together. The exact metaphor she uses is that you have a bunch of sugar on top of the ice in iced tea, and though little pieces get through and sink down at some point they all come down. That's a "ploosh". She is a very interesting professor.
And speaking of Aristotle, turns out that he and I agree in several areas when it comes to balance between feeling and thinking. I wonder if Aristotle was an INTJ...

current mood: pleased
I must say that Amtrak will have a repeat customer, since I'm back in Boston and very pleased with their service. Not only were they courteous, but I not get carsick on the way, the train was pretty clean, the seats were nice, they had power jacks for my laptop so I could watch a movie, and the icing on the cake is the fact that we arrived half an hour ahead of schedule to the station!
So yeah, they'll definitely see me again come the holiday season. And since I'd be able to use my student advantage card then if I book the tickets early enough I could also save even more!
Oh, and because of the aforementioned lack of carsickness I was able to finish up my math homework, so I'm off the hook until tomorrow! Whoo!
