It's still death week, by means of Finals, but nevertheless, the Internet is here to tell me that Tropic Thunder thumped The Dark Knight off the box-office record for this year. Since I still cannot see Tropic Thunder, maybe until it is out on DVD, (240 hours to sembreak, so ASA if I can sneak a watch at the cinemas), I'm hanging on to every bit of The Dark Knight. So when Child's Play Meet the Batman and the Joker, it becomes really cute.

Halloween is coming up, and guess what the most overrated costume would be? I guess it helps that Heath Ledger is six-feet under already. Makes it spookier. May his soul rest in peace.

Work went ok this morning, except for finding out they forgot to give me the 3 days I asked for off after my upcoming double marathon next week... Yeesh, I put in for it in July... I was peeved, but the situation is now corrected. I got out of work a little late, and with an achy big toe that had been run over by a wheelchair. When I got home and got my sock off, I realized my toenail had split, and that I was going to have to remove the broken part. Ouchiewawa, that was not fun. I cleaned it and put triple antibac/painkiller ointment on it. I jumped online and did a few things before John came home. I needed to stay up because we were sorting through our movies and CDs for stuff for a gift box for our troops. We ended up donating a bunch of stuff, I hope our soldiers enjoy it! I went to bed for alittle bit and slept fairly well. I was refreshed when I woke up, and ready to go run, until I stepped out of bed. My toe throbbed pretty good... I still put on running gear, knowing I hadn't been out for a couple days, and probably won't run again until Monday. I made it about 10 minutes before I called it a day. My toe was hurting, and I was afraid I might favor it a little and by doing so, could injure myself this close to my race... Instead, I opted for the lap pool. I tried out my earplugs today, and they seem to work, so hopefully no more ear infections. I was so proud of myself, I had my longest swim ever, 72 lengths (a mile!) I alternated between freestyle and using a kickboard, and really enjoyed myself. I've decided I'm definitely going to get the YMCA membership after my freebie ends next week It won't be cheap, but I think I'll get my money's worth out of the pool alone. (If anyone wants to donate to my YMCA membership fund in lieu of any holiday gifticles, message me for my paypal addy!) I've also made a deal with myself: if I am going to spend that much money and have a pool at my disposal, then I need to do my first triathlon sometime in the next year! Anyhow, after I finished my laps, I water walked for 20 minutes, then grabbed a shower and ehaded home. John had already made supper for us, and I ate quickly since we wanted to head over and get a parking place for the symphony before it got too crowded. We walked around alittle (I wore sandals, so my toe wasn't rubbing on anything!) then found some friends to sit with at the concert. This was one of the best symphony concerts I've been to in a long time. They played an excellent suite from "Lord Of The Rings" (note: we need to get this for Circus Band, this would be great for high wire!), a collection of John Williams movie themes, Saint-Saens' "Dance Macabre", Copland's "Hoedown", and then some selections from Ravel's "Mother Goose Tales". John was surprised he actually recognized every piece, and I loved hearing some of my favorites. After that, we headed home, cleaned up a little for Briley, and then relaxed. I'm headed to bed now, and am not sure when I'll be online next, so have a good weekend.

I know that it has been quite a long time since anyone has seen hide nor hair or me, but I'm back everyone! Unfortunately, my first post is anything but exciting or terribly upbeat. It's just going to be a general update about my life and what is going on.

 - I am working at Akron City Hospital as an Express Transporter. All that means is that I move people from room to room, or room to test, etc. I've been there a year now, but I'm feeling the urge to move on to something else. Most of the people I work with can be terribly childish, I'm not particularly fond of my boss (or even how the department is run), and I just really want something less stressful.

 - I am not currently in school. I just don't think that forensic psychology will be a smart area for me to put all of my focus....so I am trying to write a book. It is based on my friends and I and will be a mix between Chronicles of Narnia and X-Men. I'm about 5 chapters into it, and I'm hoping to tighten it up and start sending it out to see if anyone wants to pay me to write it lol

 - As far as a romantic life goes, I have none. There are guys that I am interested in, but I'm not sure if anything will come of any of them:

     - Bachelor #1 is a doctor (well, training to be a doctor) who found me through MySpace. We had been having very nice conversations...except when I would bring up the idea of talking over the phone or meeting up....then he wouldn't respond for a day or two (and even then, he didn't reply to the email, he just started a new conversation). I haven't heard from him for probably a month.

     - Bachelor #2 is a coworker who is absolutely gorgeous. I finally got the courage up to ask him out for coffee.....and I find out that he has a boyfriend...of 4 years. The worst part is that he even told me that I'm his type.

     - Bachelor #3 just moved to Akron and is a great guy. The last time we hung out, I even shared a lovely kiss with him. Unfortunately, he works days and I nights, so we rarely have the time to hang out. I'm really hoping that we are able to work something out. He's terrible at responding to texts and phone calls though -.-

So, that's really the jist of things. I am heading out to LA for Halloween, but that's for another post. Have a good night :)

I can't believe I stayed up that long to watch the new Britney video and I can't believe so many people are loving it. Sure, in comparison with 'Gimme More' it's a masterpiece but in comparison with all her old videos it's not. It's a decent video but it's definitely not the best video ever.

I am not getting the concept of the whole video. It looks a little bit like Toxic Part 2 and the 'naked' scenes are hot but pretty useless. Ugh. I don't know. The dancing stuff was awkward too. They could have done so much more. I guess I'll never get my old Britney back.

Off to watch 'I'm a slave for you' =/

So today, I didn't rly accomplish much. I watched Kamina kick ass and then I went to class, but staying up past 4am rly shot me for the rest of the day. So I left early. But stopped by the bookstore to buy chocolate and caffeine or I would have passed out before I made it home.
And then when I got home Jackie was still in bed so I went upstairs and passed out for a good two hours. Only to be woken up to DAD JUST WON 100K IN MONOPOLY. Only not rly though. It would have been bad ass though. Then I wouldn't have to spend my own money on plane tickets. And I could continue to blow it.

Like I am now. I commissioned [info]usakochan for a Ruby Carbuncle hoodie. I've also been shopping around DA for a decent plush maker. I need a Johan plush, to hug and love. And maybe a Jack plushie someday. So I can have all my bishies. And one day I'll fix YnYuugi's hair so it wont fall off when I hug him.

AFTER THIS I'M REALLY DONE. I SWEAR. well actually, after next Friday, I can't go to the Mall of America and not spend money. I MEAN YES I AM DONE. FOREVER.

Oh, It's been a bad day for McFailin'...

I am greatly enjoying this post

May I also ask why we're expected to bow down to McCain for "defending" Obama? He didn't let a bunch of voters believe that he was an arab, terrorist, danger to the United States... etc etc. The more I think about it, the more it pisses me off. We're supposed to be touched by the fact that he said something truthful and honest? The fact that this is a departure for the McCain campaign says a lot, and frankly his supporters singing his praises on this is a great big own goal. He kept his mouth shut and let people believe complete and utter bullshit until now - when it's emerged that Palin has essentially been found guilty of abuse of power and McCain is still arguably suffering from the fallout of "That One" - so they need to do some serious damage control. Praising him being "honest" now is all but admitting that he has been dishonest for the weeks leading up to this. It's contrived and desperate and I see no real honor in this at all.

I hope the whole gang has a GREAT time while in Las Vegas for Carol's birthday! Bye, guys! Have a blast!!!

I'm sorry we (Marilyn and I) can't go (sigh), but with $$$ the way it is -- and so many things we need to buy right now (including a new dishwasher, TV and heating oil, to name a few) -- it's for the best.

I did manage to CANCEL the hotel today (!!!), so we didn't have an issue with potentially being expected to pay it, there or not. We hunted and hunted for the confirmation info, but never did find it. Anyway, that's done now.

Today was Jessica's last day at the festival office. She'll be missed!

I figure we'll still see a TON of her, whether we work with her or not, so I'm not letting myself be bummed out. I hope she finds a PERFECT job and is really happy with whatever happens in the future. (She belongs in Special Events -- I've always believed that. So I do believe the right job will come along...)

(Intern) Amy is officially moving away today. Amy's last day was this past Wednesday. I hope she keeps her promise and stays in touch...

Yes, I do feel better today, thankfully.

I'm looking forward to a QUIET weekend (!!!), with no obligations away from home. (We have a lot we need to do around here, however. But that's going to depend on how we're feeling, I guess, having both been sick this week. Maybe we just need to have a lazy weekend...)

Subject:TWO STATES IN ONE YEAR. OMG.
Time:3:47 pm.

BOSTON (Reuters) - The Connecticut Supreme Court overturned a ban on same-sex marriage on Friday in a victory for gay-rights advocates that will allow couples to marry in the New England state.

The court found that the state's law limiting marriage to heterosexual couples discriminates on the basis of sexual orientation.

Connecticut is now the third state in the country to allow gay marriage, following neighboring Massachusetts, the first state to allow it, and California. Connecticut already permitted same-sex civil unions that grant largely the same state rights as to married couples, but lack the full, federal legal protections of marriage.

From the decision:

Gay persons have been subjected to and stigmatized by a long history of purposeful and invidious discrimination that continues to manifest itself in society. The characteristic that defines the members of this group—attraction to persons of the same sex—bears no logical relationship to their ability to perform in society, either in familial relations or otherwise as productive citizens. Because sexual orientation is such an essential component of personhood, even if there is some possibility that a person’s sexual preference can be altered, it would be wholly unacceptable for the state to require anyone to do so. Gay persons also represent a distinct minority of the population. It is true, of course, that gay persons recently have made significant advances in obtaining equal treatment under the law. Nonetheless, we conclude that, as a minority group that continues to suffer the enduring effects of centuries of legally sanctioned discrimination, laws singling them out for disparate treatment are subject to heightened judicial scrutiny to ensure that those laws are not the product of such historical prejudice and stereotyping.

OSLO — The Norwegian Nobel Committee awarded its 2008 peace prize on Friday to Martti Ahtisaari, the former Finnish president who has been associated over decades with peace efforts and quiet, cautious diplomacy from Asia to Africa and Europe.

Out of 197 people nominated for the annual prize, the committee said, Mr. Ahtisaari had been chosen “for his important efforts in several continents and over three decades to resolve international conflicts.”

Subject:Still Sick -- Plus A Record! (of a sort)
Time:11:15 pm.
Mood: sick.

Yeah, I'm still sick. Not as bad as yesterday (TMI), but I spent most of the day in bed. Hell, considering I worked more than half the day Wednesday (yesterday), I guess in some ways I'm worse off. (heh) It's all about how you look at things, I guess.

As for the RECORD! (grin)

I did the garbage and recycling in 20 minutes flat last night. I believe that's my personal best!

It just shows how motivated you can be to get something done and over with when you don't feel well, really.

In Other News . . .

I've been working on my LiveJournal tags again.

For any of you who don't know, I've been struggling with the tags here ever since they changed the limit (which was back at the end of November, 2007). At one point in time I was up to almost 2,000 tags (!!!), so when it was cut to 1,000, I had a serious issue on my hands.

Those interested can read my various entries about LJ tags HERE.

So, here are some TAG stats for my blog:

Nov 2007: 1,980+
Dec 2007:  950+
Jul 2008:  873
Oct 2008:  900

(I have six entries that I know of -- that are TAGGED, anyway -- that deal with tags... heh...)

It's clearly not great that I'm now up to 900, considering I was under 880 back in July. (sigh) But to tell the truth (grin), I had to cut quite a few tags to make that the current number!

Part of it is that I've been going back and tagging entries from years ago that never had tags. So just adding the DATE tags I like to use takes up tag space. I am trying to force myself to dump really random or repetitive tags, though.

Some of the problem comes from not being able to remember what a tag is named -- so I GUESS, which is a bad idea. (sigh) I wish I could think of an easy way to keep track of my various tags, but so far all my ideas have been a pain. When you post to LJ from more than one computer, there doesn't seem to be an easy method for this...

Well, my goal is to continue to manage my tags well enough that I'll stay well below the limit (which for Permanent Accounts is 1,200). I'm doing just fine with that goal!

My eye started hurting Monday morning, that means i probably got the eye infection on Sunday night.  That means that I got the eye infection at Miley's birthday party.  LAME!!

So, we were wondering which celebraty gave me the eye infection.  hmmm, who kept rubbing their ye all night?  LoL!

It was probably some dumb kid, but it's more fun to speculate which celebraty gave it to me.

I know everyone is expecting a review, but my eye still hurts.  I went to the doctor today and she said it was an eye infection and gave me some eye drops.  BLEH!!

But, I don't care if I have to go to the J Camp concert wearing an eye patch, I will go there looking like a pirate.

But, quick erview.  There were a lot of celebs, it was fun, and it was packed.  She sang on Rivers of America, on the floats where monkey's and princesses dance.  It was fun.

Anywways, eye still hurts, so best get going.
