Moving again! My seniority at my company is paying off in that I have the opportunity to relocate to Dulles. Spending quality time Home Depot trying to get the house up to snuff. Missing every con and concert going on this summer much to my regret. Will keep all of you posted as events unfold. |

i wouldn't like to get to know me I don't care, I want a boob job. I would rather have boobs that are ugly when I am naked and look good in dresses and shirts than these boobs which are also ugly when I am naked and do not look good in dresses or shirts. I hate them I hate them I hate them and I want a boob job. I don't want silicone inserts to make them size JJJJ or whatever, I just want a boob...lift... Whatever, I want it! I have developed a really unfortunate addiction to tattoo shows, but I just have to say Miami > LA. Kat is annoying and her tattoos are so ugly. I hate portrait tattoos. I have begun reading The Watchmen because I am a poser and the trailer for the movie made me pee my pants, for some reason. Current Mood: stupid |

Obama kicking butt in Old Europe My roomate and I were sitting on the backpoarch and talking about Obama, again. We both really like him. We have our doubts, chiefly that whole lack of experience thing, but are willing to forgive because it is just plain exciting.
In the conversation I realized why it (partially) is so exciting. The President is the last first. Meaning the first back astronaut, the first black baseball player, the first black whatever; or at the least the last “first black” that matters much, You know what I mean, by matter I mean first black Supreme Court judge, first black senator, first CEO, first black Chair of the Fed (oh, wait that one is left), first black golfer, first black heard of U.N.
Except for President.
It’s the last first and I get to see it. I never really realized I wanted to see the first anything that mattered, but now that I am, I am excited. |

Whlie out with Eva, we found the most amazing abandoned house. Came back recently with Jhayne to explore the insides and found this beautiful light. I'll have to come back before they tear it down... I've been living an unhealthy lifestyle these past year or so...as a result, I've gotten soft. Been documenting the changes as I try to get back into shape again...not looking to be ripped or even gain any muscle mass, just lose approximately 10 lbs of fat. In order to do it safely and stably, I'll need to do it over a period of 4-6 months instead of the 4-6 weeks that I initially planned. As a result, I've actually gained 5 lbs, but that's mostly muscle since I was recommended to gain a little before losing fat. Still quite chubby, but I think I'll be where I want to be by the end of the year. Photo of me by Jhayne Holmes. |

LA Chiva Hey everyone, Akiva Peñaloza who some of you may know from the butch femme community as well as her work as a filmmaker has a short film screening on-line that I really enjoyed. Usually I hate shorts because I never understand what's going on (("wait, is that a picture frame or a symbol of a picture frame. Is that a real whale or a symbol of the injustice to cartoon characters") but this one was different. Also, as a special treat, watch for the smart ass body positive comment about halfway through the film. There's also some voting thing going on too, so if you like the film vote for it so it can, I guess, shown on teevee (You guys know how much I know about pop culture). Anyway, the film is La Chiva and the link is

а куда делся пост про то, что типа это рассказ про всем нам знакомого человека? хотя догадываюсь - ибо гонево. с некоторыми из зафренженных у меня подобных общих знакомых просто нет. а графоманствовать можно и в стол. |

hi guys, my last entry was a little negative - sorry about that. I'm feeling much better today. I'm again in the library... my face and associated weird stuff has cleared up now - I decided to have some acupuncture, so I'm not sure to what extent that fixed the problem, but things seemed to improve very fast after I had it. I think I will go back to her for some 'general wellbeing motivational boosty' stuff. Man, this library is cold! It's winter and now that most of the pilgrims have gone home and World Youth Day/Week is officially over, the temperature has dropped. I think the Pope and his followers were blessed by gorgeous weather and no rain for their worshipping week. My sisters's little baby is now almost two weeks old. Wow that went quickly! Her labour lasted for half an hour (not sure whether I mentioned this before). Good for her! I am attempting to make a little pink and white blanket - with mixed results - attempt no. 1 with slippery synthetic wool fell off the needles and I had to demolish it and start again. I decided to buy a natural fibre - wool - for attempt no. 2. I am making some small squares in different colors and I will sew them up at the end. I'm not completely confident that this will work as the stitches don't all seem even, but I don't know how to fix it so they are more even - it's times like these when I wish I lived in the same city as my mum because she's good with knitting. An any case, mum and dad are coming to Sydney tomorrow evening for a couple of weeks. They will be staying with my sister, and mainly hanging out with her and the new baby, and little Zack, but I hope to catch up with them at some point, if only for some knitting advice. I'm still obsessed with the Twilight books and hanging out for the final in the saga (book 4) which comes out in Australia on August 4th (in US, comes out on 2nd August). Am contemplating taking a day off work so I can buy the book in the morning and spend the day reading. I know, I can't believe I'm even thinking of doing that. I've read quite a bit online about the books and followers, and it would seem that i'm not the only one who has become unexpectedly completely obsessed by the series. phew. Edward below, is the hero of the saga - a 'good'vampire, and played by Robert Pattison (Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, which I rewatched last weekend ;-) James is the baddie vampire (but he looks pretty hot here!) I'm off to see Sex and the city with Lucy my hairdresser (previously referred to as Lucy Hairdresser). I am hoping that we will be lucky enough to see a Twilight movie trailer as a work buddy who saw Sex and the city at the same cinema a couple of weeks ago saw the trailer). I think thats all from me for now - hugs and love to all ;-) xxxx |

From Leuven to Amsterdam My second PET talk went really well. Many people said it was the best talk during the feedback session. I was really surprised by such a claim! The entire PET event was really nice and I've decided to put some time into helping with PET 2009. It's a good community of people. I'm sad that it only gathers once a year in meat space. Next year it will probably take place in Seattle.
Right before leaving Leuven, Tom pushed some mentholated eye drops from Japan on me. Awesome! Thanks to Benessa for sending them from Tokyo! I convinced Alex and Mike this was a seriously strange sensation, well worth the initial agony. Alex looked like he really enjoyed it. Mike freaked out when I half heartedly joked that it was liquid of a different sort.
After the eye drops, we hit the road. It was a pretty quick drive from Belgium, we told stories about our lives for the drive back. It was intense and good at the very same time. Now we're back in Amsterdam at Alex's apartment, spinning old records and deciding on how to spend tomorrow before the Bal du Masque. I think I'll show Mike some of my old favorite places around Amsterdam. I'm going to try to convince him that he's a hot when he plays a leather daddy for a costume ball. I'll probably fail but whatever he decides on will be great.
After the party, Mike has a heroic effort to undertake. He has to make it from Amsterdam to Brussels to make a 10:10 AM flight to New York. The first train from Amsterdam on Sunday morning is 06:56 AM and arrives at Brussels central at 9:41 AM. I think he's probably going to rent a car with those odds. He's trying to convince me that the Right Answer is to rent a car and drive with him to the airport. I think this is a terrible idea and he should clearly take the train. If he misses his flight, he'll get an extra week in Europe.
I've been missing Audrey a great deal and I hope she'll come to the next PET... |

Is it possible that the internets is just superficial? Oh, by the way I am on facebook. I don't really understand why people like it. It seems to be filled with uselessness. Does this mean I am just an old man? |

my heart is in raleigh or at least 3 miles of intestinal track is I've been back from NC for a couple days but I really liked having minimal access to the internet (well, minimal compared to the usual) and the thought of getting back to full-time internet use was extremely depressing so I put off LJ-writing. North Carolina was really fun! It was so good to be with Trent again and to have someone to put my arms around at night and sing David Bowie with and argue with about how my musical taste is girly and awful. I missed him so much. I got there on Thursday night after a loooong, long bus ride, 2 hours of which I spent talking to an extremely chatty Honduran woman who spoke no English. She was really sweet. Her son had just died and I had to go through the awkward process of comforting someone I didn't know in a language I didn't speak, but she was so kind and shared her fruit with me. She is giving her daughter my phone number and I don't anticipate that being a weird conversation at all! Trent met me at the bus station and he brought me a bag of fruit candy slices, my favorite ever candy! What a good boyfriend! The rest of the night was spent just playing MarioKart Wii (a game in which I come in 12th/12th place 98% of the time, a fact made excruciatingly pathetic because the CPUs in that game are made to have their asses kicked by 8-year-olds) with Trent's family. Friday we went to check out Cary (Concentrated Area of Relocated Yankees!) and had delicious savory crepes at Coffee and Crepes. After that we went to Grand Asia Market so I could have a hissy fit about being asked to cook curry by myself, followed by running around and buying sweets for Trent's siblings (youkan, some weird flan thing, lotus seed paste moon cakes). I got a papaya smoothie and realized papaya is probably the most disgusting food ever. Trent very sweetly let me drink most of his milk tea though. I love milk tea! What a good boyfriend! He drove us downtown to Raleigh so we could pick up tickets to The Dark Knight I-Max for Monday. We walked around a bit but everything was already closed, for the most part. We did stop at a fancy chocolate shop where Trent got a pistachio paste truffle and I got a chocolate-covered apricot. On Saturday we did more of downtown Raleigh. We went to the Raleigh Flea Market and I went to Thyme for tea (every tea place has the same name!!) and bought mom the most heavenly-smelling Russian Caravan tea for her birthday. Then we went to Hillsborough St. which is basically a 3 miles of every kind of food you would want to eat. Unless you are a whiny-pants like Mary who thinks she is too good to eat at a "Japanese" place that only had a huge wall-menu, 3 different kinds of sushi, and lots of varieties of an unappetizing dish that they referred to as "hibachi". I am a snob. :( Then we walked to Irregardless Cafe, and it was little too precious for us with its $27 Tillapia lightly coated in lamb vomit or whatever so we finally settled at iHop. We are white trash! Then I got a Locopop which I thought was fantastic and Trent hated the whole concept. When we got home we played Marco Polo in his pool with his siblings and then we cooked a romantic dinner of curry together and had grapefruit Italian soda. It was lovely! Sunday we went to the mall in Raleigh and Trent was all patient and making me try things on. We spent a lot of time in Wet Seal so that I could make him buy me hoochie clothes that don't really fit me to wear to the Dark Knight. I need to point out this store in the mall there that has the most bizarre website ever: Poppypia. I guess it is an economical decision to take fashion photography that doesn't belong to you and then paste over animu heads that also don't belong to you in order to avoid getting sued OR having to take your own damn pictures. We went to an urban store and I almost fulfilled my dream of trying on a denim jumpsuit but it would not go over my thighs, which I expected, as they only had one size left and I hadn't been that size since I was 13. What I didn't expect was that a pair of shorts by the exact same brand fit me perfectly only a size up, and it is really not my usual size. I am going to dress in only Apple Bottoms for the rest of my life. This store also had a pair of metallic silver leggings, something I have wanted a long time but could not find in my own size. I hate leggings unless they are really tacky on purpose, because then it comes full circle to being awesome ugly instead of just boring ugly. They had these leggings in my size, though! In size fat! I can't wait to wear them with EVERYTHING. I still want a denim jumpsuit. We also ate pizza that had pears and walnuts and gorgonzola and caramelized onions and I MISS that pizza. We went swimming again, with his parents too, and it was really good to be able to interact with his whole family. We saw The Dark Knight and it was really entertaining but I wouldn't necessarily classify it as a "good" movie. So many plotholes (Where did X go after X caught X? Why did X go after X when X told X that X was in Place X?) and Christian Bale's Batman voice is insufferable. Aaron Eckhardt was great for 85% of the movie. The ending was SO bad, though. I want to see it again, though! After the movie we went to the Museum of Natural Science with Trent's family and then we ate Irish food. On my last day we had Sunni Sky's ice cream (he had butterscotch and pistachio and I had sugar cookie with banana pudding) and then I was sad. Here are some pictures! To sum: -I snuggled with my good boyfriend -All I ever do is eat -Raleigh closes at 4 PM -HELP ME -The goddamn Batman had a goddamn horrible voice -I suck at being a hoochie Current Mood: nostalgicCurrent Music: Jorge Ben Jor- A Minha Menina |

Rather than do anything useful, EVER, I am reading my own archives. I found this, dated 09/06/04: I now feel armed to face the world of university. However, considering the fact that warm weather seems to help my mood so, maybe I should be moving to Africa, or somewhere where it's always baking and sunny. (...So naturally I choose Edinburgh to go to university? Yeah, there was logic there. Watch this space for me getting SAD syndrome over the next 4 years...)Prophetic, no? Current Mood: amused |
