I NEED to go out and draw stuff today, which means I will be sitting in a deserted woods, in the cold and the rain. AUGH. How can it rain so much?! Surely clouds must empty themselves after... 4. 4 days of solid rain.

I am a pit of misery.

Plus I need to go out shopping... So, I don't know if I should shop in the morning and hope the rain stops this afternoon, or, draw first and get it over and done with. I was hoping to draw between 9am - 12pm, then go and get what I need, then draw till dark, 7pm, 8pm.

Let me check the weather forecast.

Apparently the weather will be worse tommorrow. Joy. It is currently 14C (57F), although it feels colder. Then again, I am sitting in the coldest room in the house with a thin tshirt on. The things I do for an internet connection.

I have just spent an entire post talking about the weather. I feel so old.

I AM SO BORED.

I have art homework to do, but I can't do it, because of the rain, so I can't sketch plans, which is what I want to do. I wished I lived somewhere where it didn't rain 300+ days of the year.
So here I am. XP I need to stuff all my h/w and last minute shopping into tomorrow. As long as it doesn't rain.

There was a rumour there might be a school strike on Wed, but it doesn't seem like the Royal High is one of the lucky schools, worst luck. Only 10 schools in Midlothian wil be open, and the RHS, Blackhall and Clermiston (the schools my siblings and I attend) will all be open. >.<

Code Geass 19 was good, as usual. Lulu is truly alone now. D: And Nunnally is confirmed dead, along with Sayoko. DDDD:

Ah, I freed up so much space on my compy. But, I had to delete so much... 24 eps of Clannad, 26 of Samurai Champloo, 26 of Ouran, 25 of Code Geass R1, 14 of Haruhi. And all my episodes of Never Mind the Buzzcocks, series 12-21. All my AnCafe stuff that wasn't music, PVs or pics. All the manga I didn't read.

I feel quite teary.

I was also cleaning out my room. Found some stuff I was gonna throw out, then I thought of you guys...

. Lucky Star A4 sticker sheet. I've used 6 of the stickers, there's about 20 left. Remeiken's into that... genre, I guess, of anime, so if you want it, give me a shout.

"Sometimes I feel like I need something to fall back on. I try my hand in jewellery making.. doll customizing.. baking and cooking.. website designing, you know, the things you see me do occassionally. But I don't seem to have the same knack with it as art.

I like to make art, honestly. It's a great feeling for me when I have a piece that I'm really keen on, and I can work on it for days nonstop just to see it done. But sometimes I hate art as well. My hand just can't seem to process what my brain wants, and whenever I do, I have no time for what I want, only time for what people have paid me to do. It's a bitch when hobby becomes work.

The thing about the internet is that it shoves the very best into your face, making you feel really inferior. Sometimes I think the best way to improve is unplug the computer and work at my own pace with no worries. Idealistically that may work, but not in today's world where you have to know people to advance. I have a friend who does this, she's a great artist but an island. But she's very happy with her work, she has improved alot and I'm sorry that she doesn't share it with her DA gallery anymore. But she's a lawyer so she doesn't have to.

I used to think I want to be a very great artist and count proudly among the best. But these days, I just want a decent job that pays, a cozy apartment with my favorite things and I have a suspicion that my hobby will be anything but art-related" - Luciole Loong

My mother was talking to a friend today, who is an art teacher. My mother was talking about my experiences a few weeks ago at the art college, and how I was told 'realism' and such artwork is going out of style, and contemporary, conceptual, abstract art is much more 'in' these days. The art teacher told my mother how much that scared her. The teacher recently had a guy in her class who had a degree in Sculpture. She asked the guy to mix up some plaster, but he didn't know how. The teacher asked him how he could have specialised in Sculpture and not know, to which the man replied his Sculpture was mostly conceptual.
I then told me mother a story I read a few months ago in the paper. A guy at the art college had gone around stealing people's doormats. This was not vandalism, but an exercise to get the neighborhood talking. That was his sculpture.

This just so isn't what I want to do. All my life, I've focused on artwork. I've improved to the degree where I'm certain I can get into art college in a few years. But I know longer know if this is what I want to do. The current times are so not for the artist at all. I'm no longer happy with what I'm producing - I'm rarely drawing for fun, due to lack of time and lack of inspiration. I may go as far as to say I'm bored with art as a whole. But it's got to the point that there is nothing else left for me, unless I plan to spend my life stacking shelves at a supermarket. I don't have the qualifications to do anything other than art.

I feel so dissappointed at myself for feeling this way.
