Hi, and welcome to the African Diaspora Community at LiveJournal. This is a community for all LJers who are descendants in any way of the TransAtlantic Slave Trade, a trade in which, from c. 1500, over 10-24 million people from West and Central Africa were sold by their own royalty to European traders to be taken to the Americas to serve as free agricultural labor (slaves).
Today we are present as minorities or majorities in most countries throughout the Americas, and i will list them all:

We may be divided by language, geography, history, cultural influence, and many other factors. But we are united by the fact that we, knowing our history and our origin, have that common bond of the TransAtlantic Slave Trade which brought our forefathers and foremothers to these shores.
Henceforth, we have this community at LJ, the African Diaspora Community, which serves to remind us of that fact, lest we forget.
No, this community isnt a place to promote bling-bling or other such BS which the media promotes in the name of the African Diaspora's name. No, we dont serve to "keep it real", and no, we WONT let this group be subject to stereotypical BS of any kind.
So, if you are an intelligent Afro-Diasporian, and you want to post on this community, we now hereby disclaim ourselves of any pressure on you to "sound", "look" or "act black" in your posts, so feel free to post your post in however fashion or form you choose.
Also, feel free to post in your native language, be it portuguese, english, french, spanish, dutch, Kweyol, sranan tongo, or jamaican/british westindies creole. No pressure on you to post exclusively in English.
