Back to NJ in the am! Can't wait to see my east coast lovies! It's been a good trip; I'm definitely going to come back here. I promise there will be many pictures posted. Now, it's off to the rooftop bar to spend my last night here in style!

Tuesday Tuesday Tuesday [20 Aug 2008|12:16am]

Today was long, I just realized. I got up early, went running, updated my iPod and gathered my money together, had an appointment up on the north side, got a diet Dr. Pepper- "Big Gulp" size, drove to Castleton Mall and went into like 6000 stores (no shopping sprees, though, don't worry), went to the bank up there, dropped books off at the library up there, and went to a Target up there. I came back to the west side and had some "breakfast" (you know, at 3:00 pm, the usual, right?). I then spent a lot of time bemoaning the amount of money I spent on books this semester while I ordered the last 7 ones. Now I think I'll have them all before classes start in a week. We then went to pick up my sister from work downtown, which took forever due to traffic and construction. When we came back, I went for a bike ride, then headed out to On the Border to drop off some break for a co-worker. I went to Walmart and bought earrings- size 16g. I don't think I'm actually going to gauge my ears but I love those hook earrings, so I got the smallest size gauge available. They didn't have the guinea pig litter I needed, so I headed to Meijer next. I then went home. I spent the next couple hours sorting through all of my school stuff that I brought out of the shed last night. I consolidated stuff and figured out that I didn't need to bring it all out tomorrow. Now I'm obviously spending a little bit o' time online.

I just had a piece of Chuckie Cheese Light String Cheese. Why Chuckie? I don't know. I'm 20 years old. I should eat like a grown-up. I never even went there as a kid, except once in 4th grade with my friend Brooke's family. It was weird. I will not take my children there. Too many creepy perverts hangin' around.

Tomorrow I'm moving a lot of stuff out to my house at DePauw. Move-in day isn't until Sunday, but since Kati wanted to help me before she goes to the DNC on Saturday, we're going tomorrow with one of her friends, hopefully. That way my dad doesn't have a heart or panic attack on Sunday and my mom can spend less time being annoying about moving. It's kind of a nightmare. I'm sure I'm no better. It's best to just get it done over the course of a few days.

Well I'm off to take a bath and read or something horribly exciting.

Still can't find a coat. I think it's too early. I've been everywhere except Burlington Coat Factory. That will happen this week.
Today was my last shift at OTB. I worked from 1-10 and made about $127 after tip-out. I had a $21 tip-out, wow. It went well and I handled a drunken party of 12, which was quite interesting.
This week, I need to get everything together to move in on Sunday. I hope to get some stuff up there before that, though.
That is all, nothing too exciting.

Friday Five on Saturday, technically. [16 Aug 2008|02:20am]

1. What is your favorite song right now? Why?
Right now, perhaps Touch of Gray by Grateful Dead.
2. What genre of music makes you the happiest?
Rock, in many forms.
3. What would you name your band and what kind of music would you play?
No idea, but we'd play good music, I can tell you that. Lotsa guitars and drums.
4. What is your favorite lyric of all time? Why?
"I'm looking to the sky to save me, looking for a sign of life. Looking for something to help me burn out bright." Foo Fighters, Learn to Fly. I freaking love this song. It's been my favorite for years.
5. What band/artist could you never live without? Why?
Foo Fighters, Incubus, The Beatles. I've grown up on them and love them. There are of course many more, but these three top it out.

Thank God for the Speed Limit [16 Aug 2008|01:51am]

shiningstar55
For once I was going the speed limit- under, actually- for the entire way back from Bloomington. All of a sudden I saw a possum on SR 37, just chillin' in the middle of the highway. I slowed way down, hoping it would move, but knowing I couldn't brake without completely killing my truck, myself, other cars, and probably the possum, anyway. The thing didn't move. I had to keep going. Somehow, I drove right over it- and I don't mean like my tires hit it- I mean, I drove right OVER it. I looked in my mirror and it was walking away. I was so relieved. I would have hated myself forever if I had killed that possum.

I need to buy a coat this year. However, I can't find one anywhere yet, except Hollister and that stupid thing was a) UGLY, and b) a hundred dollars.
Anyone know where I could find a nice, pretty, warm, and less expensive coat? I wouldn't mind getting it online, either.
Also, if I save enough money on the coat, I can buy these boots-

Fair's Fair. [14 Aug 2008|01:20am]

shiningstar55
[ mood | unnecessarily tired ]

I went to the State Fair today with 6 friends. This group of friends were from high school, except one of them who did go to Ben Davis but I didn't know him. So, technically, he's from high school, but I didn't meet him until college. ANYWAY, we had a good ol' time, as usual at the Fair. It was not as hokey this year, sadly. Maybe I just didn't go on the right night. We did see the typical nasty fair food, complete with this year's fried cookie dough and fried Pepsi. AJ ate everything in sight and was happy. The guys looked at cars for awhile, too, which was quite boring for me. I didn't get to the Exhibition Hall in time to get any free samples- in fact, they were closing just as we got there. Oh well, maybe Sunday, or just next year.

Question of the Day: (Remember when I used to do these everyday?) How do you break up boredom? And no "nasty" answers... well, if that's how you do it, though, go ahead.

My answer: Get online, read (I read about 10 good books this summer, I'm proud. I probably won't read another one that I choose until winter break or even next summer... gotta love school!), work on the someday-to-be-finished paid blog, clean stuff in my room, connect with friends, drive places, go shopping, go running, go for a bike ride or walk, listen to music, take a bath, go somewhere random, or chat it up with Kati.

As I said before, next summer, I want to live on campus and do research or work in the Bonner Scholars office. I'd like to housesit for a professor for the whole summer if possible to cut down on costs for housing. If anyone knows anyone who needs a housesitter all summer or any tips on how to get my name out there, please let me know!

This might be a little long and ramble-y.
Cut for length and if you don't want to read my bitching. In that case, a good option is to not click here. )
In other news, I've been working a lot and will only work for another week until I'm done for the summer. I worked straight through both shifts today and forced a lot of energy even when I was tired and my tips reflected my efforts well. I was pleased.
I've been down to B-town twice this week and was happy to do so. I had a nice time both times.
I turned 20 but don't feel any older.
I got winter term basically arranged and just need to fill out some paperwork on Wednesday. I'm going to be working at Sanders, a special-needs school for students who are severely mentally handicapped and emotionally handicapped. The paperwork isn't due until October 28th, so I'm ahead of the game. One less thing to worry about once classes start.
I've failed to watch the Olympics every night. Whoops. I should probably do that.
It was a beautiful day today. I went running before work and didn't even feel hot at all. It was actually legitimately cold tonight when I went out to Kroger for yogurt.
School starts tomorrow for my old high school. Ha, ha.
That's all for now, I think. I hope everyone is enjoying August.

If you were the sort of cartoon or video game character that always wears a costume, what would you wear? Why?

So today I got called into work, so I worked 10-6. I left my house 9:26, pulled into the parking lot at 9:58! How's that for no traffic! I still have so much stuff to do before I leave on Sunday, and tomorrow I won't get a chance to do it because I work 10-6 again. Saturday I'm going to have so much to do, I'll be running around like a chicken without a head. At least I got all my sweatshirts/long pants out. I don't want to write anymore, so I'm going to go relax!
