| When, my parents visited last year and met Alice, teaotter came up with the idea of going with sub rosa descriptions of our relationship on the theory that my parents might freak out about new (to them) terms like "polyamory" and open discussion of triads and suchlike, but more subtle discussions of how "Alice is very important to us" & "We expect her to be in our lives for a long time" would convey the appropriate message with far less drama, especially since they most certainly would never ask for clarification, since they have at least learned not to ask for information they don't want to know.
All that worked very well, so well that when we moved out, they asked if Alice would be moving with Becca and I in a way that assumed that they thought she would be. Moreover, they had some concern about us being able to find an apartment that would rent to three people and suggested that we lie and say that Alice with just visiting – which makes absolutely no sense unless they thought that people might freak about three people being involved with each other.
In any case, I talked with my parents yesterday, and they mentioned that they were going to see the new Woody Allen movie Vicky Cristina Barcelona because it had gotten good reviews. I'm fairly certain that they have no clue as to what the film is about. However, being mildly curious (and having no interest in ever seeing the film, since Woody Allen is generally not at all to my tastes) I read the wikipedia entry that I linked to and discovered that it was a film about poly relationships, or more specifically (and unsurprisingly) about an impressively disastrous and broken poly relationship. In addition to being curious if this film might be the first sign of increasing visibility of polyamory in mass media, much as films involving various impressively dysfunctional queer relationships (which often ended in the death of one or more people involved) in the 1970s and early 1980s were the first step in greater mass media visibility of queer romance.
Also, and more important personally, I'm wondering if there will be any questions or comments from them about the film. I'm very curious to know if this film will stir any ideas in their heads. If it does, I definitely plan to be as non-committal and possible in response to any questions. | comments: Leave a comment |

| Bored... I would like to be home organizing!!! 0_o Sometime this weekend Rody and I are going to have to break into our own shed so we can get in there. LOL! I need to put a bunch of stuff in there, which means that I'm going to have to spend some time in there re-organizing. We're really not using the space effectively. Alot of the things are heavy though, so I'm going to have to get some help doing it. Cleaning with Michelle yesterday really got me rolling into wanting to get the house more organized again. I think when I get home today, I'm going to tackle the linen closet in the hall by the bathroom. It's so disorganized! I gotta rack my brain to figure out how to keep it from getting like it is. Maybe individual boxes or something? Hmm. I'm definitely going to clean the bathroom though. I don't have to cook tonight b/c we have to eat on the leftovers.
In other news, I miss my IPod! I miss being able to listen to my ebooks! I need to remember to get a new IPod mini charger. It's so quiet on the ride home without it too. (I has no radio in my ghetto car) I really should post pictures of the Green Hornet for your viewing pleasure.
Hrm... I'll be leaving work in an hour and half. Yet, it seems so far away. I'm trying to get up the energy to go to Tai Chi tonight. I want to go, but I'm finding it hard to motivate myself. I really do need a gym buddy! :(
Also, I'm still impatiently waiting for the pics from the Fetish Factory show to be put up. I can't wait to see them... :bounce bounce bounce: | comments: Leave a comment |

I seriously could not stop laughing at this, and not because I was disagreeing... I've definitely had these thoughts with men in the past. LOL!

| | Here's an example of a new and seriously impressive type of computer animation. For the last 15 or so years I've been wondering when CGI tech will get to the point of photorealism and we'll have new films with long-dead actors. We're now 98% there. I'm betting it will take a year or two (likely 2) to get the last bugs worked out and 2-3 years to get the costs down. So, in 3-5 years I'm guess that this will start being used by movie studies, and a few years after tat we'll perhaps start seeing "new" James Dean or Audrey Hepburn films. | comments: 10 comments or Leave a comment |

| "If you ever do this to me again, I swear I'll wrap your feet around your head and use you as a racquetball."
August 19 [Aberrant] Bartolomew, one of Mark Anthony Green's Secret Service detail, sends an encrypted communique to his supervisor Steve, complaining about the difficulties in working for Green. "First, he has more privacy issues than ViaSoft.... Second, honest as Saint Pete is tall, he's nuts."
"Not irrational for a minute, mind. But he's a sick bastard." The mask slipped for a moment the other day in New York, when they were driving him to a fundraising dinner and saw a little girl lying in the gutter. Green's wife Lois called out "Oh my God! Stop!"
Bartolomew had to think about the candidate's safety. But the candidate... for a moment, seemed to be fighting the impulse to say "No &mdash: I don't want to be late". | comments: Leave a comment |

| Scorecard for Today:
teaotter bad migraine
amberite especially bad migraine in a series of migraines that she's been having lately.
- DJ (my 14-year old cat) a trip to the vet because it seemed that he seemed to be eating even less than usual. In the past 9 months, he's lost almost a pound. The kidney tests & etc from this visit resulted in a bill over $300 + a later bill for the high blood pressure medicine he was prescribed.
Needless to say, today was not one of our better days. | comments: 5 comments or Leave a comment |

| | I didn't think to post last night when I got back in, but I did get home safely, with flights as more or less smooth as the ones that took me to Indy. I'll post more about the con later, once I've had time to unpack and upload some pictures. | comments: Leave a comment |

| | Hey, anyone in the Sacramento/Davis area know anyone good for babysitting, or willing to help out some themselves? Looking for long term possibilities, as well as, well, RIGHT NOW (or very soon) as I am sick and have both kids at the moment. Extra points for people willing to barter for cooking or tutoring. :) | comments: Leave a comment |

| Friday night boxing was AWESOME! Our seats were super close, like 2 back from the ring. Gawd it was awesome. There is seriously nothing sexier than watching two men in top shape beat the crap out of each other. Rawr! I don't know how crazy that makes me... but I don't care! We also sat next to this really nice old Spanish man and his son. He was really funny and SUPER into boxing. He also gave me a really nice compliment too. He asked if I was a ballerina b/c I was dressed like a lady and moved like one. ::blush:: Nice little old Spanish man! :) The fights were REALLY good. They were all matched up pretty well and I even got to see a knockout! Rody and I definitely want to go to more of the Starfight Production fights because they definitely know what they're doing. :) We headed home and Lee, Michelle, Aaron, Ashley, and Jerry and Jerry's new GF all ended up coming over. Michelle bleached my hair, and Rody's, and Lee's and Aaron's. It was funny b/c we were just trying to go ahead and get everyone else to do it at that point b/c then we could seem like a crazy platinum blonde cult! And if you go by Cthulu Munchkin rules you get more powerful the more cultists there are! ^.^ lol. Well, we all had a great time and stayed up entirely too late drinking and laughing. I was soooooo hung over the next day!
Saturday, I awoke to being in immense amounts of pain. But! I had to get up so that I could start getting EVERYTHING ready for the Fetish Factory event at Czar. It's a good thing too, b/c I ended up changing my mind as to what I was going to wear! I wore my new red corset and it looked awesome with my new thigh high 5" heel boots and the skirt with the laces in the front. I'm waiting to be able to get the pictures from the website since they PROHIBITED cameras. :sigh: We had a great time until the end where there was some relationship drama with a couple who's friends of ours there at the end. But, that's getting resolved and I hope they can talk it out. <3 I have to say I REALLY like Czar as far as an event venue goes, but I normally don't go there b/c the music normally sucks. Top 40 hip hop type stuff. I thought the event was done really well and everyone looked great! I have to make Rody get back in his outfit so I can take pictures of him. Rawr! He did this awesome thing with his gasmask too!
Sunday, everyone was feeling tired and sick. We were going to play the game, but Rody's throat hurt too much. I cleaned and took care of some things around the house while everyone napped.
That's all I feel like typing for now and I think you've gotten the gist of my weekend. I'm soooo tired today! | comments: Leave a comment |
